BEFORE: Elisabetta Gregoraci has made a flying start to her BBU career notching up three VERY impressive wins and displaying plenty of brute power in the proccess. However she's never faced such an experienced opponent like Holly Valance before and even Georgie Thompson thinks that only the blonde's lack of recent activity prevents this match-up from being called a landslide ACB advantage. Valance has a positive record in America for starters and allthough she hasn't fought since September 2014 and hasn't won since December 2013, she's still only 32 years old and very much in her prime. She left the Downunder Boxing to become head trainer for The Metermaids but the burning desire to get back in the ring and deliver some punishment has prevailed which makes her Surfers Paradise comeback a worthy co-main event tonight.
Meanwhile Elisabetta pretends to understand little English - or the Australian accent rather - during the introductions and looks as cool & composed as a hot-blooded Italian firecracker can given the circusmatnces. Georgie Thompson thinks that's just a poker face from the 36 year old showgirl but she refuses to touch gloves with Holly which immediately triggers scathing jeers from the ultra-loyal audience.
Holly Valance wears a black bikini set and golden gloves. Long blonde hair tied with a green ribbon in a sleek ponytail. Elisabetta Gregoraci wears a red bikini top, black knickers and white gloves. Raven-black hair straight, tucked behind the ears. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the lightweight division.
Round 1:
Holly wants to dominate the home beach but she hasn't anticipated the Italian wrath carefully enough before the fight because Elisabetta storms into immediate jabbing assault and picks the blonde off surprisingly often in the opening minute reeling the younger woman back and trapping her along the ropes in the proccess. The crowd urges the blonde veteran to escape the brunette's efforts but Holly truly needs some time to find her stride after such a lenghty spell on the sidelines and her lack of aggression only fuels Gregoraci's determination to upset the odds. The TV showgirl digs her mitts deep into the Aussie cleavage come the final minute and confirms her nasty demeanour which keeps Valance totally off the boil and wincing quietly at the bell when Elisabetta nails her on the solar plexus to secure a pillar-to-post advantage.
Round 2:
Holly moves a lot quicker across the sand and ducks underneath the Italian's aerial attacks before clattering into her chest with a vicious left-right combo that finally makes the Gold Coast crowd roar in visible delight. More hooks crash into the brunette's body thereafter but since Gregoraci hasn't shown much defensive skills thus far in her short BBU career even Georgie Thompson can't predict what will happen if - or when - Valance really puts her under heavy pressure. The brief clinch stalls the Aussie progress but Elisabetta still looks to outright dominate her foe through sheer aggression rather than tactical manouvers and jumps into more jabbing frenzy that meets a staunch high guard and results in another clinching stalemate along the ropes. That actually satisfies the local crowd and Holly herself gives the older woman a long stare at the bell.
Round 3:
Gregoraci looks a bit upset during the interval but things only get worse for her when Valance connects with a quick left/right combo seconds into the third before wading into the brunette's stomach with a swift change of targets moments later. Elisabetta bends forward with a quiet groan but as she lifts her head there's Holly blasting her across the mouth and adding a left hook on the ear that staggers the Italian firecracker and enables the blonde to pound her back to the ropes thereafter. Gregoraci's unable to fend off the heat and has to bellow out behind a tight earmuff while Valance sends more accurate shots on the midriff and keeps her foe trapped in the corner for remainder of the round. That's as impressive as anyone's been against the Italian thus far but the BBU TV crew doesn't really have to remind everyone about the Aussie girl's past endeavours whatsoever.
Round 4:
Elisabetta's really annoyed now and swings plenty of hooks simply trying to take Holly's head off with a trademark haymaker but the local veteran easily ducks underneath the aerial show and slams her gloves into the exposed cleavage making the brunette groan in pain again before wobbling her on the heels with a quick uppercut on the chin. Gregoraci's feet get stuck in the sand and she's unable to jump to the side before Valance thunders a right cross on the eye and half-spins the girl around - another hook soon finds the solar plexus and bends the Italian veteran forward into a brutal uppercut on the jaw THAT SENDS ELISABETTA CRASHING INTO THE SAND amid a rampant applause from the crowd! Holly barks in delight and shakes her glove straight at the brunette's face however Gregoraci quickly dusts herself off and leaps into immediate response. She wasn't that hurt after all despite Valance's entourage hoping otherwise and suddenly a flurry of Italian jabs leaves a couple of nasty bruises on the blonde's cheeks as both women brawl in classic grudge fashion kicking sand all over their shins for remainder of the round. They have to be separated at the bell but Gregoraci still shouts plenty of abuse in her native Italalian before turning back to inspect her clearly swollen lips that took quite a punishment so far in this bout.
Round 5:
Holly looks to add to her advantage but she looked more comfortable on the counter with Elisabetta losing her temper and focus. The classic war of attrition gives the Italian more chances to punish the local favorite and the lumps on Valance's cheeks are getting bigger in the fifth with both women head hunting each other in pursuit of that haymaker scenario. Georgie Thompson realizes that Gregoraci can soak up plenty of leather heat after all and the knockdown has just unleashed the true Mediterranean beast which takes over the action when more punches stack up against Holly's otherwise pretty face. The Aussie fails to embrace the classic punchfest and it's too late to back off from it when Elisabetta bends her across the ropes late in the going before driving a vicious uppercut on the boobs that takes the air right out of the blonde's lungs at the bell.
Round 6:
Both women stare at each other with utmost disdain now and Holly's footwork begins to fade away now as she almost trips over a hole in the sand which enables the Italian to spike her with a crisp left/right combo on the mouth before a cross hooking follow up finds the ear and staggers the blonde into a yelping struggle. Holly just fails to stay on top of her rival in close range and soaks up more body assault; Elisabetta bumps her jug-to-jug before landing another quick combo up the middle and rocking Valance's head to the point the local favorite has to accept extra punishment along the ropes. Gregoraci freezes her out in the corner in the final minute and sinks her with more ruthless shots to the body, the fatigue also kicks in for Holly who yelps her loudest of the night while the Gold Coast support dwindles on the contrary. Ref has to haul the brunette off her foe before Valance gets chopped in half but it's Europe on top now and Gregoraci wipes the sweat off her swollen lips and yells out at the stunned crowd; the comeback is very much on!
Round 7:
Holly tries to catch some breath here but Elisabetta hassles her across the sand and catches her with another brutal hooking route that shatters the high guard and wobbles the blonde into a jaw-checking combo that whips Valance on her heels with eyes closed. Gregoraci thunders another left cross up the middle to connect with the lips and half-spins the younger woman to the turnbuckle with a piercing hook on the left eye. Holly stumbles forward and yelps one more time but what's worse, she has to wrap her right arm around the ropes in order to stay upright. The Italian can't pass on that kind of opportunity and slams a left hook right into the jaw which simply pulls the plug on the aching Aussie but there's still one more shot to come... AND IT BURSTS HOLLY'S NOSE INTO A BLOODY NIGHTMARE... the blonde's head whips around and her eyes bellow out into the orbit... she slides down on her knees and collapses face down at the brunette's feet... the Surfers Paradise's crowd is silenced on the spot and even the ref is in complete shock when the 32 year old actress remains unresponsive to the count! Epic KO7 Elisabetta Gregoraci!!!
AFTER: Not many people around Gold Coast suspected the buxom Italian can deliver such a devastating series to simply punch their favorite out of her senses and even Holly's past American experience counted for little when crashing against raw power. Georgie Thompson calls it the upset of the card regardless of what happens in the Main Event and points out that the knockdown in the fourth lured the Metermaids/ACB camp into a false sense of secuity. Elisabetta is still a relative newcomer and her age doesn't make her a betting favorite on the long haul but one simply can't underestimate that punching power as Gregoraci has quickly emerged as a power hitter the BBU lightweight division has rarely seen before.
Georgie is convinced this victory will be heard all over the world in days to come but still shakes her head in disbelief when a banged up Valance is lifted onto her feet with her nose bleeding heavily and Elisabetta just staring at her with a devilish smile over at the other side of the ring. Yasmin Verheijen and Amy Willerton couldn't get it done but the BBU visitors avoid a whitewash scenario in the most cruel way possible as Holly has to be carried off the ring - still battling the KO daze even when the Krystal Forscutt vs Jessica Michibata Main Event is announced some five minutes later.
Final result: Elisabetta Gregoraci def. Holly Valance KO7.
