ROSAMUND PIKE VS JENNIFER CARPENTER

BEFORE: Rosamund Pike's career has never really taken off even though she enjoys the Foxfire Atlantic management to aid her cause. Despite rising to one of the most recognized names in the movie industry - and that's always a difficult task for a former Bond Girl who usually just remains a Bond Girl -  she has to target free agents like Jennifer Carpenter tonight in a stay busy match-up. Carpenter secured plenty of exposure last year and if only the 'Limitless' lead female cast was a few years younger, she'd be poised to make a lot of noise in the 130 lbs division yet. However she can still upset genuine contenders or beat up rusty journeywomen like Pike to earn a gatekeeper salary.

Rosamund Pike wears a black basque top with silver trim, matching black knickers and blue gloves. Long blonde hair straight. Jennifer Carpenter wears a brown basque top with golden trim, golden knickers and red gloves. Dark brown hair straight. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the lightweight division.

Round 1:
Rosamund scores the early punches picking the brunette off in mid distance and thriving on her visibly superior movements. Jennifer doesn't get any chance to settle in and soaks up a jabbing series up the middle which shut her down for most of the round but she's agile enough to avoid the heavy efforts as Pike slowly but surely walks her back to the ropes before blasting a left cross on the navel and adding a piercing right hook on the temple. Carpenter leans back on the ropes and reverts into single hand response which gets lost in the blonde's leather flurry in the dying seconds; another piercing hook shatters the high guard and connects with the chin - that slumps the brunette on soft knees right at the bell.

Round 2:
Pike looks for more success and buries the slower moving opponent under a high barrage but Carpenter's guard withstands the test this time before a quick swing over the top finds the blonde's nose and wobbles her backwards. Jennifer enforces the close range stance thereafter and pounds away to the body which bends Rosamund forward and removes her counter attack plans on the spot. She clinches the American but eats a series of uppercuts on the boobs and drops back to the ropes where Jennifer lands more clean punches up the middle before Pike can finally clinch her and see out an otherwise mediocre round.

Round 3:
Jennifer's really improved her footwork and she picks the blonde off with more clean strikes to the body as Rosamund's low guard just isn't up to par here. She tries to clinch the raging brunette but eats a left/right combo on the jaw and must brawl it out in close range instead. She fails to stretch her elbows and begins to wince in pain when Carpenter's steady jabbing rush bruises her ribcage and sends her backing into the ropes come the final minute. Another clinching effort is broken up by a left cross on the nose and Rosamund disappears behind a high guard with the brunette romping her to the gut repeatedly and shaking her glove in delight after the bell.

Round 4:
Pike looks a little desperate as she ignites more speed into her movements but lacks the neccessary precision from close range to put Carpenter under any sort of pressure. The American ducks & weaves away from the aerial assault before ripping more shots to the body and crippling the hapless English actress on her knees half way through the round. Rosamund can't stop yelping with every shot piercing her midriff and tails off onto the ropes down the stretch; Jennifer just keeps laying it into the pale skin and lands several half-uppercuts on the rack to make sure Pike has plenty of leather to think about here. The final minute is literally a sanctioned sparring session with the blonde's arms barely able to keep the brunette away from chopping Rosamund in half; Carpenter is so eager to blow her away she accidentally headbutts her in the nose but the ref looks so impressed by the brutal body assault, he doesn't even let the English lass to catch her breath. At the bell Pike is sagging on jelly knees and hugging her aching midsection with Carpenter barking in anger over the unneccessary break.

Round 5:
Rosamund's too slow on her feet to fend off another jabbing rush from the fellow actress and it looks like she got completely fooled by the repeated body attack that tore her figthing spirit apart tonight. Jennifer made little inroads on the blonde's face but just wrecked her guts time after time again so it's no wonder Pike's high guard is nowhere to be seen when the brunette riffles a left/right cross on the temples and drills the navel with a quick switch moments later... Rosamund gets rooted to the spot by that drive but what's worse, she fails to react when Carpenter whacks her on the nose and pierces the solar plexus with a left handed piledriver... BLONDE IS HURT... Pike just wobbles forward with eyes closed and bounces off the top of Jennifer's right shoulder and the American tees off a right cross on the chin THAT PUTS ROSAMUND OUT ON THE SPOT... the ref doesn't even bother with the count when the English babe hits the deck and rolls onto her face before mumbling her demise. KO5 Jennifer Carpenter!!!

AFTER: That was mighty impressive from the 'Limitless' actress who destroyed her opponent's midsection before blasting her out with a classic head hunting move. It's a real shame Jennifer wasn't born like ten years earlier since she's truly has that mean punch about her and thrives on success like very few free agents around her! She skipped few months of PPV action earlier this year but tells Boxing World Online she will make all the time in the gym count really soon again and looks to kick Alana de la Garza's ass next!

On the other hand, this is another brutal loss for Rosamund Pike who is destined to remain with the journeywomen for the rest of her boxing career. Even the BLONDE! Magazine rates her performance below par and indicates a couple of confidence-boosting wins in the BBU might just do wonders for her mental attitude instead. It remains to be seen if Pike admits she's really going nowhere in the States right now.
