BEFORE:

"Bazz is in a little slump here at Asylum," says Brenda with a smile. "It always seems to go that way. We win three or four in a row, then Front Street does. Well. Just call Brenda Song 'The Slump Buster', because, after tonight, it's Bazz that will be on the winning streak!"

"The last time was maybe the worst night of my career," says Leighton with a shake of the head. "I HAD her. I HAD the big win I'd been looking for. And, then it all slipped away. Well, not tonight. Tonight, is going to be a different story."

ROUND ONE:

O'Dell: "Back at ringside and that is 'Somebody To Love' by the lovely lady coming down to ringside right now, 'The Marco Island Mauler', Leighton Meester..."

Tess: "And, Meester referenced that first fight against Song, and I'll tell you, Jenny, she was in front in that fight and looking like getting the big win that would have put her on top of the Front Street flyweight division, and Song mounted a furious comeback to blow Meester out of the water. And, now, Leighton's in a position of needing to step up this year. And, beating Brenda would BE that step."

O'Dell: "Meester into the ring and helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve. She's wearing that pink and red number she likes. And, that's 'Hungarian Rhapsody #2 by Liszt, and that can only mean that Brenda Song is on her way to the ring..."

Cassie: "Uncle Wiz giving Brenda the honors tonight, because she won their first fight. And, by the way, last month we talked about Jill Wagner being undefeated at Asylum. Well, Brenda Song is undefeated here, too."

O'Dell: "Brenda tapping glove to fist with Cassie on her way to the ring. Climbs inside and is helped off with the robe to reveal that black number we've seen before, and, we're about ready to go. Time for some picks. Tess favors Brenda. Mac?"

McCarthy: "This is a tough one. You have a typical overrated Dancing Hooker who deserved to be fired years ago, and Scerbo's overrated running buddy..."

Cassie: "WATCH IT..."

McCarthy: "I guess I have to go with Song. But, I'd love it if they knocked one another out!"

O'Dell: "Cassie?"

Cassie: "You KNOW I agree with Tess!"

O'Dell: "And, we are off and running. Brenda with that funky style she has. Just so unorthodox. She's hard to deal with. An that's the last kind of an advantage a girl with her talent needs. But, she's got it. Meester, though, has seen the act before and is concentrating on finding with the left jab here..."

Cassie: "Leighton has the reach and will want to use it. The problem is, Brenda's so good at getting to spots and creating the right geometry that reach usually doesn't play into it."

O'Dell: "Meester working hard to get the left on. As you may remember, the first time this pair fought, Leighton had quite a bit of success at range and was winning the fight until Brenda turned it all around and won going away. And, right now, you're seeing some of what Meester was doing in that fight."

Tess: "No question about it. This is good stuff from Leighton."

O'Dell: "Coming down the stretch in the first. Meester working that left, dropping the rights in behind. Brenda so hard to square up though, angling all over the place and able to get off in combination. Good exchange right there with both girls landing solid shot, and there's the bell. Close one to Meester."

McCarthy: "And an early lead. But, we all remember what she did with the last one."

ROUND TWO:

O'Dell: "Second resumes on the same terms. Leighton wants to box at range, square up Brenda, get ranged punches on her. But, that's the trick with Song. She's all angles, slipping and dipping and getting to great spots to punch. And, she always throwing leather from places you wouldn't expect leather to be coming from..."

Cassie: "And, more importantly, she can SCORE from there, get punches in CLEAN from there."

O'Dell: "Can and is doing exactly that right now, though Meester having plenty of success with the jab and follow routine. Good, two way round for the second consecutive round. Song...not even sure how she slipped that punch, but she did and countered with a solid three-punch combination..."

Tess: "My BFF works with this girl in the ring and it has to be like trying cut water with a cleaver..."

Cassie: "Something like that."

O'Dell: "Coming down the stretch in another close round. Song slippin' and dippin'. Meester working the feet, wants to get the left hand on the screws. Able to do that in spots, but, nowhere nearly as consistently as she'd like. Ten seconds left in this one. Good right from Meester and there's the bell. Close again. Song."

McCarthy: "All even at 19. Still pulling for the double knockout."

ROUND THREE:

O'Dell: "Third begins with more of the same. Song just SO slippery, so unorthodox. Meester working hard to control her with that left hand, but it's not at all an easy thing to do. Brenda a solid right hand that backed Meester up a step, and Song following with a BIG flurry that has Leighton covering up..."

Cassie: "She's got Meester hurt!"

O'Dell: "She does indeed! Leighton wobbled with a right hand from nowhere and now Song pouring in from all angles. Leighton backed up, quickly trapped on the ropes and taking a beating. Song just brutally efficient and effective when she has a girl in trouble like this. Clinical stuff, surgical stuff from Brenda!"

McCarthy: "Just like in the last fight. That mystery right hand..."

O'Dell: "And, there's no mystery about what happens after it lands. Meester taking a licking on the ropes. She's still ticking, but she needs to tick for about 20 more seconds to survive the third. Song trying to make sure that doesn't happen. Meester in the high and tight, hanging on, running clock, and she'll run it out, but, at the bell, it's Song wide."

Tess: "And it's Brenda on top 29-28."

ROUND FOUR:

O'Dell: "Fourth begins with Song all about consolidation. She's aggressively forward, slipping punches, working body, getting that solid right hand to the head on consistently. Meester being forced backward by the sheer volume of accurate fire here, and the fact that the legs are probably not all the way back not helping..."

Cassie: "This is such a dangerous place to be against Brenda. When you're vulnerable..."

O'Dell: "THERE'S THAT MYSTERY RIGHT AND DOWN GOES MEESTER! That sneaky right hand of Song's sends Leighton crumpling to her back! Brenda quickly to a neutral corner and the referee begins the count. Meester rolling to her belly at three. Four. Five. Six. Pushing to all fours. Seven. Eight. Meester to her feet at nine..."

McCarthy: "She beat it. And, she's going to be sorry she did."

O'Dell: "Referee gives her the mandatory and waives on Song. And HERE COMES BRENDA! Song all OVER Leighton, driving her immediately to the ropes and giving her a thorough going over. Brenda just on FIRE as she's landing almost everything to both head and body clean. Meester again spending the latter portion of a round hanging on. Referee looking in closely, but the Front Streeter's going to survive. Bell! But, a huge round for Brenda."

Tess: "39-36 now, and this is looking an awful lot like the last time."

ROUND FIVE:

O'Dell: "Song not about consolidating now, but finishing. She's after Leighton from the opening seconds, pouring on that accurate fire from everywhere. Meester again giving canvas in bunches as Brenda is in total command and THERE'S THE RIGHT HAND! Meester wobbled again and nearly goes down a second time!"

McCarthy: "Man, talk about a fighter who has a fighter's number..."

O'Dell: "Meester covering up, keeping the guard high. Brenda going body to try to bring it down, then splitting it with a nice uppercut. Song just so unorthodox, Meester can't figure where the punches are coming from. Add to that how accurate she is, and you can see why Brenda's been a top contender for some time at flyweight."

Tess: "No doubt about it, Jenny. There isn't a flyweight in the FCBA she can't beat, except the one sitting at this table, of course..."

McCarthy: "I'm about to be violently ILL..."

O'Dell: "Coming down the stretch in the fifth, and, for the third round in a row, Leighton Meester taking a beating from Brenda Song. She's wobbly and woozy and looking ready to go, but, somehow, she's hanging on. Just ten seconds left now. Good right from Song and there's the bell. Leighton survives. But, Brenda wins it wide again."

Cassie: "49-45. That's a big lead at the half for Song."

ROUND SIX:

O'Dell: "Second half begins with Song on the attack again. Meester now holding ground and firing back at Brenda and we've got some hot tossing going on early in this one. Leighton not retreating, not looking to use the jab, she wants to stand and slug it out, and Brenda Song is quite willing to fight on those terms..."

Cassie: "She LOVES fighting on those terms."

O'Dell: "And, with as slick and accurate as she is, that's understandable. Leighton, though, holding her own in there. She's working some body, clinching and shouldering. Getting very physical with Song right now. Brenda not bothered by it, but, Leighton getting some work done as a result."

Tess: "Still, a dangerous game to play with the way Song can do damage."

O'Dell: "No doubt about it, but, at the moment, it's working for Meester. She's stabilized her front after three horrible rounds and is back in the fight tactically if not on the scorecards. Brenda dipping and slipping and landing a nice left hook. Meester shoulders her back, hooks the belly, and there's the bell. Close. Meester."

McCarthy: "And, Song's lead is now 58-55."

ROUND SEVEN:

O'Dell: "And it's Leighton now coming forward to start the seventh. Meester going to go ahead and gamble here and take the fight to Song. She's getting physical, using her advantage in size to move Song backward, banging body tying up, leveraging Brenda with that shoulder. Song managing, slipping punches and landing counters..."

Tess: "But, this change in tactics has done wonders for Meester, who seems to be more effective doing this than trying to box."

O'Dell: "Looks that way. Good combination from Song there and RIGHT HAND, MEESTER! Leighton CLOBBERS Brenda with that right hand and Song is hurt! Brenda in full retreat now as Leighton pours forward trying to end this thing in the seventh..."

Cassie: "Brenda's OK here. Only about 40 seconds left. She'll get to the ropes and play defense."

O'Dell: "And, that's exactly what Song is doing. She has that guard up. She's slipping punches and rolling with, blocking hard shot on her gloves. Some of it's getting through, of course, but Brenda stopping a lot of it. We're down to just ten seconds to go and a GOOD right hand Leighton shakes Brenda at the bell! Meester wide, ladies..."

McCarthy: "And, the lead is now 67-65. Meester's back in the fight. And, the double knockout is still possible."

ROUND EIGHT:

O'Dell: "Meester right off the stool on a seek and destroy mission. She's walking right in on Song, swarming her, backing her up, sitting down on every punch now. She's bringing all the physical she can find and is looking to borrow some if possible. Brenda trying to manage this with the jab, with sneaky counters, but, it's not happening at the moment..."

McCarthy: "She can't keep Meester off right now. Doesn't have enough in the legs to stop her with hard punches."

O'Dell: "And, that's allowing Leighton to bull forward, force Song back, punish her with both hands. As ugly as this got for Leighton earlier in this fight, that's how ugly it's getting for Brenda now. She's taking some serious punishment here to both head and body..."

Cassie: "She'll be OK. Just needs to run some clock here."

O'Dell: "And, while Brenda's been able to do that, she's paying a price for it. Meester absolutely dominating this round and giving Song a thorough beating. Brenda pinned to the ropes down the stretch, taking it to the ribs and belly while she keeps the guard high. Song trying to clinch, but Meester stacks her and WHACKS her with a solid right hand at the bell. Shutout for Leighton Meester."

Tess: "76-75. Four rounds apiece with Song's knockdown the difference. Two to go. This should be interesting."

ROUND NINE:

O'Dell: "Meester off the stool like a shot and after Song. Brenda trying to plant the feet and fight back here. Leighton again able to move her, but slowly this time. Brenda fighting for every inch of canvas as we're back to the hot tossing we saw earlier. Song a good right hand that stopped Meester's advance for a moment, but Leighton right back forward..."

Cassie: "Brenda just looking for that opening to turn this around with that right hand."

O'Dell: "AND THERE'S THE RIGHT HAND BUT IT'S MEESTER WHO LANDS IT! Song staggers and nearly goes down and Meester throwing everything but the kitchen sink at Brenda now. Leighton winging away with both hands. Brenda staggered backward under the weight of shell and DOWN GOES SONG!"

Tess: "That might be it..."

Cassie: "Get UP, Bren! Get UP!"

O'Dell: "Song nosed in at Meester's feet. Leighton wasting no time getting to a neutral corner. She wants that count underway and it it. Three. Four. Five. Song shoving to hands and knees now. Six. Song swaying, trying to get to her feet. Seven. Eight. Nine. Not going to happen! TEN! It's OVER! And your winner by KO9 in comeback fashion is 'The Marco Island Mauler', Leighton Meester!"

McCarthy: "Let's check the replay on...what do you MEAN we don't HAVE a replay, truck?"

Cassie: "There are plenty of smart people in the truck."

AFTER:

O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"

Tess: "I have our winner, Leighton Meester, and, Leighton, things did not start well..."

Leighton: "She's just so tricky, Tess. She gets leather on you from places leather shouldn't be coming. She's hard to deal with..."

Tess: "But, later in the fight, you turned it around."

Leighton (nodding): "Neve said, 'get physical with her. Get in her grill and take her out of there.' We'd talked about that some in the run-up, but she's so dangerous. But, as far behind as I was, what did I have to lose?"

Tess: "Big win for you..."

Leighton (smiling): "Front Street doesn't have ONE contending flyweight. It has TWO."
