CELEBRITY BOXING AFTER DARK - "BAREFOOT SUMMER" MINI-CARD

Results: Lookout Writing: Archer

Danielle: 21 YO, 5’3 (1.60 m), 4-4-0 since 2014, Pretty Little Punchers

Zoey: 21 YO, 5’4 (1.63 m), 0-1-0 since 2016, The Wannabees.

Before: Two eager young flyweights ready to have-at one another. This will be Zoey Deutch’s debut under management of The Wannabees. Naturally, she wants to show her new bosses they signed the right girl.

“They took a chance on me,” Zoey says, “all I had on my record was getting knocked out by Sophia Bush. They told me not to worry, that Sophia had a lot more experience and losing to her my first time out was not a big deal. Well, it was a big deal to me! I learned that I hate losing and I while I know Danielle has had 7 more fights than I have—she’s only fighting at .500. In other words she’s not unbeatable and if I fight my fight, I’ll beat her, too!”

Danielle Campbell seems tenser than usual and gives Zoey increasingly cold looks as the rookie chatters on about how beatable she is. Once at the podium the tension she feels is evident.

“How nice of Zoey to remind me I’m 4-4. I would like to remind her that HER average is .000. That is to say nothing and she’s not going to improve that against me! Do I feel pressured by my management? No, not directly, but the Punchers have at least 3 fighters at flyweight—Janel Parrish, Lucy Hale (Flyweight Champion!) and me. It’s 4 is you count Ashley Benson. So nobody has to say anything to me. I can look at the situation and know every fight counts. Losing a fight to a winless rookie is not something I want on my record!”

Zoey Deutch’s turn to look icy daggers at Danielle. Apparently the .000 winless crack not going down too well with Ms. Deutch. The hostility still strong as they stand opposite each other in the ring on fight night. Danielle in a faux leopard prints on white bra and panties. Zoey in black bra and panties. White gloves for DC Black gloves for Zoey. Both ladies are barefoot. Zoey’s hair pulled back in a tight ponytail. DC in similay ponytail but with white bowed ribbon securing the top. Both young women tense and shifting their feet during the instructions. Hard swipe of the glove leads to more glaring looks, then they go to their respective corners. The bell rings.

R1: Zoey and Danielle move swiftly to the attack with Zoey hammering the more abundant chest of her rival. Danielle growling at the early jugg attack gives Zoey’s belly her full attention. Zoey backing up with a gurgle of pain, but shifts her feet and comes back in, this time going after Danielle’s tummy. Danielle getting her guts clouted now aims at breaking through Zoey’s guard up top to keep her preoccupied. DC rewarded with a bonus shot to Zoey’s mouth that draws a startled recoil from the rookie. Zoey and Danielle continuing to circle and punch. Heads getting more attention, but mostly shots bouncing off heads hunching behind gloves. Then DC flicks a deep hook into Zoey midsection and she retreats gasping for air. Danielle tries to follow, but Zoey has the jab up to slow the PLP flyweight down. Round ends and judges give it—close—to Danielle Campbell.

R2: Zoey and Danielle just pick up where they left off in the opening round. Circling, punching away, but with more evasive bobbing and weaving thrown in. More head shots early, but then they start hammering each other to the body. Zoey just loves banging DC’s boobs and smiles very time she sees DC wince as a bra cup is crushed. Danielle finally goaded into pounding Zoey’s more modest chest. Zoey not liking it, but she’s finding opening that allow to bang DC;s cheekbones and forehead. Little gash forms on DC’s forehead late. Though Danielle firing back with her jab. Rounds ends with another close one—but this time it is Zoey Deutch who is awarded the stanza.

R3: Danielle strikes back quickly as this round goes underway. Nice opening feint to the belly pulls down Zoey’s guard and POW! Strong uppercut catches Zoey flush under the chin and she stumbles back before landing hard on her black panties. Zoey blinking in shock and pain as DC gleefully looks down on her fallen rival until referee shoos her to the neutral corner. Zoey breathing hard as she struggles to rise, but she does—just barely—beats the count. Referee orders the fight resumed. Danielle swarms in, just trying to overwhelm Zoey with punching, but the shaken ZD proves she can be an evasive target. Running chase ensues with Zoey making quick counters to discourage Danielle. Danielle keeps up the hunt, but can’t corner Zoey by the time the round ends. Still, thanks to that knockdown, there is no doubt Danielle Campbell won this one wide.

R4: Danielle Campbell attacks with fresh vigor in this round. Again she is able to keep Zoey Deutch on the run, but again, the rookie avoids being cornered. Zoey defiant with her jagging, but not reckless. She’s clearly in a regrouping mode this round and willing to let DC pile up the points as long as she’s able to avoid being hurt. DC can see what is happening, but is vexed that she can’t seem to cut off the ring and corner Zoey. Rounds end in a wide win for Danielle, but she doesn’t look pleased to see ZD giving her a “I’m-still-here-bytch” smirk before turning away.

R5: Danielle resumes the attack by moving in close to strike at Zoey’s body. Too late, she discovers she’s been sucked into a Zoey Deutch counterattack. Danielle getting hit hard to belly and breast, but refuses to back off and keeps trying to get at her hard pressuring opponent. The exchange is very exciting to watch as both fighters strain to get all their power into those body shots. It is very hard hitting and slowly Zoey is forcing DC to give ground! DC desperate to counterattack lunges forward with a heaving right aimed at Zoey’s head, but ZD ducks so that punch whistles over her shoulder and Zoey’s answering right crunches hard into Danielle’s jaw. Danielle’s head swivels, white ribbon goes fluttering out of her fraying ponytail and DC GOES FACE-FIRST INTO THE CANVAS. Zoey just can’t resist drinking in the sight of the fallen Danielle until referee orders her away. DC has reached her knees, but she’s swaying, trying to shake the cobwebs out of ringing skull as the referee starts to count. Danielle manages to rise at “…NINE!” but has to beg the referee to allow this to continue. Danielle sluggish on her defense as Zoey comes back in, but round ends before ZD can set her up for a finish.

R6: Desperate work in the PLP corner to try to get Danielle Campbell ready for the next round. Danielle looks shaken and woozy, but won’t hear of throwing in the towel. She makes a great effort to get out and counterattack as the new round begins. Zoey seems wary. Trainer must have warned her to watch out for DC to be feigning how bad she’s hurt. However after about a minute of regular exchanges in which DC’s timing is plainly wrecked, Zoey realizes Danielle isn’t faking and goes on the attack with a furious barrage aimed at Danielle’s chest. DC struggling to cope with this leads herself open for ZD to ram a hook deep into her stomach. DC doubled, staggers back against the ropes and confusedly tries to hold herself up by grasping the top rope. Zoey now free to go after Danielle’s head like it was a speed bag, knocking left right, up and down with a finishing blow to the bridge of the nose. Danielle’s knees collapsing, but she’s still gripping the ropes! AND THE REFEREE JUMPS IN! The official thrusts himself between Zoey and her trapped quarry. “No! No!” Danielle can be heard protesting the stoppage, but as she is sagging into the referee;s arms, it is clear the right decision was made.

The Winner: ZOEY DEUTCH TKO6!

After: Zoey mobbed by teammates Sammi Hanratty and Sarah Hyland as they all get to take in the thrilling (for them) sight of a weeping Danielle Campbell being helped to recover on her stool. Sarah and Sammi whisper in Zoey’s ear, then they all march over to the PLP corner to confront Zoey who is being guarded by Ashley Benson and Lucy Hale.

“I want to walk her,” Zoey announces, then adds in a whisper, “—if she’s OK enough for it.”

“Yes, I am OK for it,” comes the shaky, but still defiant voice of Danielle.

“Just give her a break!” Ashley Benson urges.

“No! NO! I lost! I can take what Zoey earned,” Danielle says her voice groing firm.

“You watch her, anything goes wrong you get her back here,” Lucy Hale orders.

“Yes ma’am,” Zoey says, clearly not wanting to get on the wrong side of the Flyweight Champion. “Come on, Danielle,on your feet, I’ll hold you up.”

DC totters to her feet and Zoey gets a firm arm around her waist. Then they are off, stopping now and then to pose. Danielle getting better as they go, not fighting the Walk, but she can be heard whispering:

“Enjoy this while you can, we haven’t seen the last of each other. Next time I’ll win.”

“Yes, you just keep telling yourself that,” Zoey says, ”but tonight I’m the winner for the first time and that’s a feeling I’ll never forget!”

Very competitive young flyweight belt. Zoey Deutch proving she does know how to win and giving her hopes as she fights the many other young flyweights who have popped up in the FCBA this year. Not a happy night for Danielle Campbell, She had her opponent down, but couldn’t finish her. She was never the same after her own R5 knockdown and probably should not have tried to continue in R6. As we noted, there are a lot of new flyweights out there and it’s going to be hard to establish yourself even with management. Next fight could be a crucial one for Danielle Campbell.
