Before: Lane playing spoiler, most expecting Bo Derek to be defending against Liu tonight, but Di proved a giant killer in upsetting the blonde slugger, Lucy a different proposition altogether, but Lane has closed the credibility gap considerably. Questions about Lucy’s physical and mental condition abound following a draining stint at the hands of big hitting lanky bodies like Kiana Tom and Jaime Pressly, Di enters a confident champ, not a respectful underdog--Liu has a live body in front of her tonight. Black push up. leopard boy cut trunks, slick ponytail Lucy--Lane in red cotton two-piece jockeys, messy ponytail.

During r1: Lane out with the right hand under her chin guarding the uppercut, left at her temples, and right away the champ starts to work. Dropping the jab onto Lucy’s face, hooking off the jab, and stepping in with straight right hands, Di hustles Lucy to the corners, works the body, clinches before Liu can get set. Frustrating shutout for the challenger as Di finishes with a 6 punch fusillade to the waist, then chests up at the bell in a show of courage as Liu pushes back--prompting referee intervention.

R2: Lucy getting her feet under her, bouncing to her right, clipping to the come-along hook under Di’s chin--Lane advancing, cutting off the ring and spanking the body with widfe left hands, both girls getting things done, Liu steps it up down the stretch, jumping in with lead right hands t the face, then pivoting to the side to steal the round.

R3: Liu starting to showboat, hands at her side, bending to the side as she dances away, making Di miss badly. Liu bringing either fist up off her thigh, clouting Lane hard across the face as the challenger dazzles while retreating--Lane with both fists up at her temples, trying to close distance, but she’s getting bewildered. Midway though, Liu feints, freezes Di, jumps in with the lead left uppercut between the gloves, falling off to the left and swinging a straight right arm from the oblique angle that claps eye with a savage crack--Lane badly hurt, staggers away, allowing Liu to slip BEHIND her, Lucy with running right hands, bouncing her fists off the back off Di’s head drives he champ face first o a corner before the ref can restore order. Rest of the way is lucy at her taunting, maddening best, showing di her chin, drawing the punch, slipping it and countering with blistering force to the belly or face from either side. Lane stumbling badly at the bell as Liu walks her down, Siamese eyes flat and vicious as they take in the sight.

R4: Liu jumping to her right, uses that little twirling hook, then reverses field to ram a hard right hand into Di’s eye. Lane leg-locked, swaying badly forward--Liu jumps right to drag a hook into Lane’s face, then jumps left to sling in a blistering right hand through the chin. Lane can’t take it--she toppled straight back and lies in a picturesque stretch as Liu lifts her mitts in triumph. KO4 Lucy Liu.

After:  Reign of Terror is back--Liu talking a dazed and still-wobbling Diane Lane for her walk of shame, more because of Lane’s tough talk in pre-fight than what she did in the ring. Liu showing no ill effects of bantam damage--she had outclassed head to toe, and once those bombs started landing--Di just couldn’t stand.
