Before: “I hear Sarah finally beat somebody this year,” Ashley Benson says in the pre-fight. “I’m really glad of that because I wouldn’t want anyone to think I’m trying to balance my record by taking on a ‘cupcake’ with no wins on her record. Of course, I’m no Miranda Cosgrove. Beating me is going to be a lot tougher. She is smaller than me, but my stablemate Lucy Hale has proved small girls can beat bigger ones. Trouble is: I don’t see Sarah as a ‘Lucy Hale’ either. I just hope don’t hurt her. Nobody likes seeing a big girl work over a smaller girl.”


Sarah Hyland fuming as she takes the podium, eyes flashing at Ashley: “First of all, I seem to remember Lucy Hale was once 0-9 and she turned it around. Now that I have The Wannabees in my corner, I’m going to follow in Hale’s footsteps and work my way all the way up to Flyweight Champion!”


Ashley Benson has been sipping a glass of water now sprays it out as she bursts out in a laughter.


“Oh, sorry,” Ashley said, “the thought of you wearing the Flyweight belt was just too much.”


Sarah stomps her foot: “You are so stuck up, Ashley Benson! I’m going make you SO sorry you dissed me!”


Ashley shrugs: “You can try, but I don’t see you beating me. That’s no brag—that’s going to be the fact of it—get used to it!”


Sarah has heard enough she grabs a water pitcher and pours it over Ashley’s head ruining her hair and make-up. Shrieking with fury, Ashley jumps up and tries to tackle Sarah, but the smaller young woman pulls a chair in front of the lunging Ashley. Ashley trips and lands on her face. Sarah steps onto Ashley’s back and poses for the wildly clicking cameras. Then as she sees Janel Parrish and Danielle Campbell come rushing towards the stage, Sarah darts back stage where she can be seen high-fiving Zoey Deutch and Sammi Hanratty before all three of vanish just ahead of a PLP posse.


Not surprising that hard feelings still clearly present when Ashley and Sarah meet in the ring for the first bout of the mini-PPV. Ashley in a sexily cut red one piece swimsuit. Sarah in a sexily cut leopard print one piece. Red gloves and boots for Ashley. Black glove and boots (white laces) for Sarah. Both letting their bobbed hair hang loose. Very tense instructions as Sarah keeps moving forward against the taller Ashley until Ashley pushes back, Stern words and a waving finger by referee finally restores enough order to get through instruction. Loud SMACK as the two “touch” gloves and go to their respective corners with hot glares. The bell rings.


R1: Sarah Hyland is a dynamo as she comes flying out of her corner and starts firing leather into Ashley Benson. Ashley driven back by the sheer volume of Sarah’s punching, but the blonde digs in and uses her jab to fight her way back into the round. Both fighters taking a lot of punishment to body and head, but Sarah’s sheer ferocity is giving Ashley’s chest a heavily shelling late. Ashley trying to bring punches down onto Sarah’s head face, but Sarah’s punching up letting the leather bounce off the top of her head. Two have to be pried apart after the bell. Two stand chest to heaving chest eyes blazing at each other until referee sends them to their corners.


R2: Sarah again swarming in on Ashley and hammers the blonde’s waistline early. Ashley twisting as she doubles over, then gets the side of her head swatted by heaving Sarah rights. Ashley staggered, trying to find a way to escape the torment, but Sarah just dancing around the blonde firing away, keeping Ashley confused. Then Ashley bangs into the ropes, but this causes her to finally clinch to break up the brunette’s momentum. Referee’s break allows Ashley time to get her jab working and make Sarah pay for her aggression. Sarah back to dancing around and striking hard at Ashley. Ashley is managing to keep up with Sarah and countering to end of the round. This avoids Sarah Hyland sweeping the round, but she still wins it wide on points.


R3: Ashley ready when Sarah comes charging back at her and this sets off a blistering battle at toe to toe range. Ashley smashes her leather hard into Sarah’s face to bring her offensive to a sudden halt. Then, as Sarah falls back with her guard up protecting her face, Ashley goes into Sarah’s exposed midsection. Sarah driven back, but then swings around and comes back in close. This time Sarah is pumping shots into Ashley’s torso and bringing uppercuts to catch Ashley’s breasts on the tender underside. Ashley then hammers back at Sarah’s breast line and the smaller brunette is forced back. Ashley then drives straights rights lefts, trying to get between Sarah’s gloves. Late in the round she finally puts hard leather into Sarah’s mouth and nose leaving trickles of crimson from a split lip and leaking nostril. Sarah stubbornly jabbing back makes it close on the cards, but Ashley Benson wins her first round.


R4: Sarah doesn’t have the fire she did in earlier rounds and Ashley is more than happy to put on her own vigorous attack. Sarah more defensive this round and trying to keep Ashley off keep Sarah off balance while slipping in disorienting shots to the head. Sarah trying to put some distance between Ashley and herself to buy some time. Ashley keeping up a steady, but quick punching pursuit and Sarah increasingly on the defensive as the seconds tick off. Rounds ends with Sarah looking frazzled and Ashley smiling grimly.


R5: Ashley eager to get at Sarah again gets careless in the early going and pays for it. Ashley comes closing in and swinging big, looking for a spectacular finishing punch. Not a good idea as Sarah is able to duck under the blockbuster right and counter with a quick right that catches Ashley on the side of the chin. Ashley’s head whipping around, wet hair slapping against her face and then she takes a left that sends the head whipping around the other way. Ashley staggering back, gloves instinctively up to protect her face, but this just gives Sarah full access to pounding the blonde’s belly, ribs and breasts. Ashley doubled up and trying to escape. Sarah banging away at Ashley’s flanks scoring points but Ashley is recovering. Ashley able to get her jab working in the final minute and stabilizes herself as Sarah’s attacks are blunted. Still, Sarah wins the round wide and looks pleased with herself at the comeback. Ashley just scowling.


R6: Round starts more cautiously as the fighters circle and try to get position to launch fresh attacks. Again, Ashley is able to show superior footwork and feinting skills to draw Sarah into unfavorable positions. Sarah trying to compete but she is being steadily banged up to the head. This soon produces a sluggishness in Sarah’s responses as Ashley starts breaking through her smaller brunette’s defenses. Sarah’s cheekbones are swollen, there is a hairline cut sending a crimson trickle down her forehead and her lip is bleeding again. Sarah hangs in but she can’t keep Ashley from scoring a wide win on the cards. Sleepy look on Sarah’s face as she makes her way to her stool. Ashley looking grim and determined as she goes to her own corner.


R7: Sarah trying to be more active this round launches an early body attack on Ashley, but the blonde takes the punches and lashes back hard to Sarah’s body. Sarah hit hard to belly and lungs, stumbles back as she gasps for air. Ashley skillfully guides her quarry to the ropes and pounds her to the belly to loosen Sarah up. Sarah pressed back against the ropes, seems to lunge forward, perhaps trying to clinch, but Ashley neatly steps aside and brings a right uppercut crashing into the point of Sarah’s jaw. Sarah HURLED back against the ropes and then BOUNCES FORWARD. Sarah sinks to her knees and then pitches forward. She lies the with the side of her cheek pressed against the canvas, but her rear end now pointed at the arena lights. Ashley just can’t resist giving the vulnerable posterior a little poke. Sarah shoots forward onto her face, but then rolls over onto her back, her right arm thrown across her eyes. Meanwhile. Referee is waging his finger at Ashley who shrugs and strolls off to the corner. There are cases where such antics have delayed the ref’s count and allowed a fallen opponent extra time to recover. Not this time. Sarah Hyland is able to pull herself into a sitting position but she can do no better. As she hears the official reach “…TEN!” Tears are rolling down her cheeks./

The Winner: Ashley Benson KO7!


After: Sammi Hanratty and Zoey Deutch able to rush into the ring with the corner crew and help escort their comrade to her stool. Sarah coming around hangs her head in shame, but her stablemates hug her and give her words of support.


“Stand aside. Time for this loser to take a walk with me.”


The three girls look up to see Ashley Benson, now shed of her gloves, standing there with hands on hips, a big winner’s grin on her face. Sarah glumly rises and lets Ashley slide an arm around her waist.


“You aren’t bad,” Ashley said, “just not as good as me.”


“Get this over with,” Sarah mutters.


Ashley then guides Sarah around the ring, waving to the crowd like a beauty pageant winner, she even pauses and makes sure Sarah shows off her bruised and swollen face.
“I hate you!” Sarah cries. “I swear I’ll pay you back for this!”


“Don’t make threats you can’t carry out,” Ashley says confidently. Then she finishes the walk by tripping Sarah so that she falls on her face again. Ashley puts a foot on Sarah’s behind and poses for the cameras doing a bicep pump. Then she leaves before Sammi and Zoey can intervene.

No surprise that the post-fight saw such mean-spirited action. The pre-fight conflict meant it was bound to end this way. However this was actually a decent fight for Sarah Hyland even though the more experienced Ashley Benson was eventually able to beat her. If Sarah’s progress is a measure of what The Wannabees management has done for her, she could be following the hard path of Lucy Hale to ring success. Meanwhile Ashley Benson returns to .500 for her lifetime record and should be ready to show she’s as much a flyweight contender as Lucy Hale.
