Elizabeth Debicki versus Dami Im (Words & Results: Lookout!)

BEFORE: It's an exciting bout for Elizabeth Debicki tonight as she is competing in her first contest under the Lookout! Atlantic banner and her first match in the BBU! It's a double debut for her, though Elizabeth did have her first official bout earlier this year in the FCBA, losing to Robyn Lawley. But, Debicki looks to get back on track tonight to demonstrate she has the skills to compete at welterweight. Dami Im has also not had her welterweight career get off to the start that she wanted, but is ready to show Debicki's new stable that they made a mistake in signing her as the two of them square off. Regardless of the outcome, it's clear early on that these are two of the tallest fighters in the league, with Demi standing a proud 6'1” and Debicki a confident 6'2 3/4” - the two of them staring into one another's eyes as the two of them try to push each other back – literally all big girl here tonight!

Debicki in a black sports bra and shorts – matching gloves with hair in a fighting ponytail; Dami has black hair around her face, in a blue bikini top and shorts with matching gloves. It's more than likely than one or both of them will probably be black and blue to match their attire here tonight, judging by the way these two are gazing at each other across the ring as the ref – wisely – keeps them apart as they kept pushing at each other in prefight.

The fight is set for ten rounds in the welterweight division.

R1:Elizabeth bouncing off of the ropes, closing up her stance as she looks to rock her foe and sliding supple forward as she extends those long arms in stunning right and left shots. Dami able to come forward, able to touch her foe up top with the jab, then slamming away down low with a thudding right hand. Immediately,she's on to Debicki, working hard, as Im moves her hands in short,clubbing swats anywhere she can. Dami hammering away at her arms,back, ribs, tummy, breasts – anything she can get a hand on – as Elizabeth struggles to ride it out. Debicki blocking a lot and slipping to the side, using those long legs of hers to pivot away and then answering with quick hooks to Dami's body and jaw –occasionally slipping in a right uppercut from the closed stance. It's a pretty brisk two-way until Elizabeth shakes things up with aright uppercut that finally manages to cleanly connect. Dami stops punching and absorbs a series of walloping hooks to her body and face, beaten to the ropes. Elizabeth steals the round in the final minute as she sends Dami buzzed back to her corner and Debicki skipping to hers with excitement!

R2: Dami comes out jabbing and bouncing to her left early, then fading to set up in the ropes as she invites Debicki to come in –which Elizabeth is all too happy to accept. But, Im showing off some gorgeous counter punching off of the ropes with some sneaky,supple shots, fitting in short right hands to Elizabeth's breadbasket and chin, cuffing her some hooks to her face before closing her stance. Elizabeth dazed and furious as Dami seemingly safe in the pocket, absorbing the wild offense from Debicki but not getting hit clean as Dami tees off on her aggressive foe. Elizabeth wobbly but at the bell, managing to slip a few clean shots late –impressing her new stable with the ability to absorb punishment and still keep Dami pinned against the ropes. Not backing down can be a recipe for disaster, but also a very important trait in the welterweight division!

R3: Elizabeth going back to what works, patiently chopping her foe down like a tall tree. Dami coming in crouching, hands up, hacking away with short rights and lefts, bludgeoning at her foe's breadbasket but Elizabeth bending and parrying, preventing herself from getting hit clean as she keeps rolling and twisting. Elizabeth picking her spots, tearing up Dami's midsection with short right hooks and swatting lefts,occasionally clouting her across her cheek and chest, using a shoulder bump to back Im out of position. Nudging her foe off balance as she keeps chopping away, but Dami soaking up the punishment as she pays the price in order to keep up the pressure.

R4: Here in the fourth, it appears the strategy might pay dividends as Dami pushes her foe back against the ropes, forcing Elizabeth to roll and block, bumping her foe off balance again with the left shoulder but unable to get the power in place that she has been able to in previous rounds. Dami hacking away and out hustling her as she digs in with short shots at the tummy, mean-spirited rights and lefts to her abs and behind the elbow, then switching up top as she clubs away around Debicki's head and shoulders. Debicki groaning out, slumping back against the ropes, hugging her tummy and protecting her head as she gives up a clear round to Dami.

R5: Debicki no longer interested in negotiating along the ropes, just charging to the middle of the ring to change things up as she shows her foe a stunning jab, then backing up to bounce backwards. Elizabeth repeats the maneuver a few times, getting Dami to move forward, hands extended to pounce when a booming right uppercut lights Dami up and sends her reeling backwards. Elizabeth's eyes harden as she moves forward with cold fury, stepping to the right and slams that left shoulder into Dami's chest, then as she's off balance, licks a right uppercut to the chin again and then clouts a left hook as she sends her staggering backwards towards the ropes. Dami dazed, trying to crowd her foe backwards, but getting dissected in the process as a series of shots – a sneaky right uppercut, a quick left hook and a follow up brutal uppercut – has Dami swooning. Elizabeth connecting aggressively – landing loud and flush to Dami's drowsy face – finally slamming in a hard right hand to drill her backwards as the lumberjack strategy seems to payoff with Dami crashing to the canvas – TIMBER – as Debicki cuts her down in her BBU debut via KO5 for the winner – ElizabethDebicki!

AFTER: Debicki obviously exciting as she jumps around, using those long legs of hers to bound over the nearest turnbuckle as she mounts it and raises her fists up into the air with excitement. Fellow welterweights and stablemates Gal Gadot and Karen Gillan come over to celebrate with her as they all hug in the middle of the ring. Elizabeth beaming as she listens to the cheers of the crowd after her first win, pumping her fist into the air as the three of them head out of the ring – though not before Elizabeth checks on Dami Im. The two of them exchanging a few words, with some of them encouraging but not all of them pleasant, but the two of them seem to separate on good terms, although in different trajectories at the moment in terms of their careers. However, both are still young and will no doubt meet again. Until then, though, Elizabeth declares to anybody who will listen, over the cheers of the crowd,that although this was her first win for Lookout! Atlantic – it certainly isn't going to be her last!
