Bar Rafaeli versus Erica Durance

(Words: O & E / Results: Lookout!)

Before: “I’m excited about it,” says a grinning Erica about her first fight this year. “Bar’s a dangerous fighter, but I’ve got some ideas about that chin of hers. This fight is all about durability, and I don’t think she can last when we both start landing.”

Bar has to be looking over her shoulder at up-and-coming O&E big gals like Tahnee Atkinson and Eiza Gonzalez as well as the sudden flood of young models entering this year, but puts on a brave face. “Even Tractorpull admits I’m better than my record this year. But that doesn’t change the facts. Looking good was never good enough, and it certainly isn’t now. Poor Erica is just going to be on the receiving end of things when my record starts matching my abilities!”

Blue demi-cup bra and Daisy dukes for Erica, wavy dark hair tossed around her shoulders, black gloves. Bar in pink triangle-cut bikini with zipper-front bottoms, blonde hair straight down her back, white gloves

R1: Good hammer and tongs back and forth - both beauties mixing it up midring in power-punching distance. Slight counterclockwise rotation as both girls look to get right hands. Good body work back and forth - both girls snatching up chunks of belly with robust hooks and wide rights. Good blocking defence - neither girl wants to leg out and look like a quitter early - they're standing in the pocket, covering up, keeping chins tucked and looking to answer strong everything the opponent offers.

R2: Tight, elbows-in guard for Erica at midring, calm in the pocket, parrying Bar's thumping jab. Short hooks taking Refaeli in her breasts & mouth in receipt; knocking her off stance, forced to regroup. Durrance steps-to and encounters FEROCIOUS rapid-fire one-twos to the body. Erica digs in, returns fire in kind - splendid spanking back and forth beats both women breathless once again. Closing out the second minute, Bar’s form a little loose, Durrance able to dip inside, counter short n' vicious to body, then bobbing up top to hook Refaeli's chin and DOWN SHE GOES! Perfectly timed, crisp left hook sends Bar scooting to her rear: she's up quick, but looking startled as she legs out the round to get to the bell.

R3: Little more circumspect action, Bar keeping her distance, stepping smartly clockwise, left hand pumping out stiff jabs to negotiate terms. Erica’s head movement a little better—both girls throwing about the same, but Durrance landing at a higher percentage, routinely catching either side of the guard to catch jaw. Both women still digging hooks to offending tummies off the front foot—good thumping spank issued back and forth in close, up tempo action as Bar cedes the round to shake off the knockdown.

R4: Bar ready to try the trenches again, pounds out a close, muscular round as the girls jab to close, then hup-it-up mouth on shoulder. Both bumping with the left shoulder, often drawing warnings, looking to step into the gap and hook righty tummy, chop left hands to chin. Refaeli finding a nice little right uppercut off her right foot, just picking Durance up in the slot. Erica bunching up slightly, getting outworked & jostled as Bar works her way back into this fight. Warnings for both women after the bell—too much tousle-rubbing, shouldering going on for the ref’s liking. Much too rough in there.

R5: Shutout Refaeli, Durrance trying to come forward and be the boss, but she’s getting banged up in the attempt. Bar’s jab heavy, crisp an fast, banging Durance to a standstill with it, beating Erica to punches. Now she’s leaning in, getting her body behind short, very powerful right hands—bludgeoning blows partially blocked, but strong enough to bump Erica off balance: it’s Durance backing up, unable to hold canvas. Steady diet of hook the belly, hook the belly has Erica breathing hard, regrouping with her back to ropes. Rugged beatdown issued: Bar short n’sharp with her punches, rotating her shoulders and chugging away at Durance’s ribs, chest, chin. Erica riding it out stiff legged at the ropes: she ships a sobering beating and as she’s walking away, Bar scoots behind and gives her rump a glute-rippling SWAT to cement her fight-reversing round!

R6: Bar initiates - stepping in the left jab to knock Erica’s chin back, then another to her mouth before pivoting left. Durance turning, keeping elbows high, Refaeli targets the midsection with spearing right hands - leaning in off the jab to pound home hard single shots to breadbasket. Erica grunting in pain, backing away, Bar stalking, brunette pawing don't-hurt-me jabs while keeping right cocked at her chest. Refaeli feints; jabs jug; pivots right instead of left and bends in a vicious right hand! Crashing chin-check turns Durance's chin hard to starboard, knees give a great bend, then straighten up locked as she's stumbling forward in a fog, trying a looping right hand on instinct. Bar sidesteps left, ducks under the big right while dragging her own right deep to tender underbelly, Erica pitching forward to the canvas on her belly! Durance groaning, hopelessly gut-shot, unable to get off her tummy. KO6 Bar Refaeli in picturesque fashion!

After: Usually stoic Bar crying freely, hugging her trainer, shuddering with relief and joy, one of boxing's long suffering beauties breaks through to winner's circle after a long drought. "I'm just so thrilled," says a choked-up victor, "It's been a tough year for me, but this is starting to make up for everything!”
