Ch Serinda Swan vs. Gisele Bundchen (Queen of the Ice Hotel)

(Words: Front Street / Results: Lookout!)

BEFORE:

Plenty of history here, no doubt about that. And it all leads here, to the Ice Hotel. It was just last year that Swan was near the front of the line for a lightweight title shot. And, then Gisele sent everything sideways. Bundchen beat Swan via a shocking TKO3, prompting an immediate rematch...which Bundchen also won, this time by TKO8. Those two fights sent Swan crashing down the rankings and earned Bundchen a shot at Ice Hotel Queen Miranda Kerr, which a red hot Gisele cashed to become Queen and reach what has, so far at least, been the pinnacle of her career. Bundchen then lost her title to Kelly Rohrbach and it's been all downhill since. For Serinda, on the other hand, it's been an uphill climb since Bundchen, an 18 month effort to regain her standing in the lightweight division, one that finally culminated, again, here at the Ice Hotel with a victory over the same Kelly Rohrbach for the title of Queen. And, nearly two years since their first meeting, here we are again. At the Ice Hotel. Where Gisele will try to recapture the crown and Serinda will try to slay her personal dragon.

"I must admit," says Gisele with a smile, "I was very surprised to receive this opportunity. After all, Front Street, especially Decker, has done nothing but duck me since my wins over Swan, and, obviously, Serinda knows she can't beat me. Somehow, she's convinced herself she can. But, deep inside, she knows the truth. She knows I'm going to beat her again and reclaim MY Ice Hotel."

"As I've told you all before," says a hard-eyed Swan. "I'm SICK of hearing about Gisele Bundchen. And, apparently, the only way I can put a stop to that is to put a stop to HER. Right here. Tonight. And, that's exactly what I'm going to do."

ROUND ONE:

Gisele aggressive early. She's got the guard high, she's working past Swan's jab to get to middle distances, angling, looking to bang some body and then work upstairs. Bundchen remembering well the lessons of the first two fights and the dangers of being out on the end of Serinda's punches and boxing with her. Even though Swan's the more physical girl, Gisele's shown she can hold her own on these terms, and these are the terms she wants early. For her part, Serinda willing to play this game, just as she has been in their previous encounters. She's confident she can outlast the supermodel in a battle of attrition and can box with her at middle distances. And, on the latter point at least, she's right. Swan holds her own, looking plenty comfortable. It's good, two way stuff the entire round, with more and more body work taking place as time goes on. By the bell, plenty of body is being tenderized, and, neither fighter is much interested in stopping when it rings, forcing the ref to jump between them. It's close to Gisele, who leads 10-9.

ROUND TWO:

Swan gets rolling. Serinda's had enough of the mid-range stuff. She's banging home the heavy left jab, keeping Gisele at range, setting her up for right hands. Bundchen's guard still high, and she's still moving the feet, but she's unable to work past her rival's defenses. Queen getting the range down now, and getting heavy artillery on. She's landing some very hard shot by the middle of the second, backing Bundchen up with right hands that snap back the head and send sweat flying. Swan stepping forward, taking the canvas her rival's giving up. Gisele trying to hold ground and fire back, but Swan's weight of shot carrying the day now. Gisele continues to be forced out of her defenses, giving more and more ground as the round goes on. Bundchen's getting almost nothing done offensively by the bell, just taking a pounding. When it mercifully rings, Serinda's pitched a shutout to tie things at 19.

ROUND THREE:

Third begins with more aggression from Swan. Serinda's got her hated rival on the run and she's determined to keep her that way. Bundchen trying to counter-punch now, looking to fill holes the offensive is creating in Swan's defenses with crafty right hands. It works, to a point. Gisele's scoring some in spots. What she's not doing is slowing down Serinda. Swan's on the march, driving all before her. Gisele in retreat, again taking tons of heavy leather, getting the head snapped back and, on occasion, the legs shaken. Bundchen begins trying to tie up, wrestle around with her rival, anything to gum up her offensive. Swan, however, simply shoves off, backs Gisele up, and gets rolling again. It's grim stuff for the former Queen. And, then, it gets grimmer. A BOOMING overhand right from Serinda finds the mark and swivels Bundchen's head and DOWN GOES GISELE! Supermodel ragdolls to the canvas, bouncing once before landing with her arms and legs at odd angles, down and almost certainly out. Referee counts, but it's a formality. Gisele unmoving at it passes her by. It's OVER! And your winner by KO3 and STILL Queen of the Ice Hotel is Serinda Swan!

AFTER:

Formalities dealt with quickly. Bundchen and her handlers hustled out the revolving door by security as Swan stares holes in her rival's back. When the dragon is gone out into the snow, Serinda's ready for the post-fight interview. "Eighteen months," she says with a shake of the head. "Eighteen months, I've been waiting to do that. And, now that it's done, I never want to hear her name again. Understand? It's over. She's over. She's history. And, I'm still the Queen."
