R1: Busy hands, busy feet, both girls hopping left or right, finding an angle they like, touching the jab quick up top, then tucking hook-to-breadbasket. Selena dukes up at temples as she tries to come forward to break the stalemate. Gomez’ power punching knocking Keegan off balance, touching her all over, head and body. Selena letting her hands go in shoe-shining bursts, hammering away at rack and guard as Michelle fronts up. Gomez swinging beefy, mostly bashing on her shoulders: one solid overhand right does momentarily startle Keegan in a close first.

R2: Selena on the prowl, jabbing Michelle, walking her down. Keegan circling the perimeter at the hop—just trying to get herself together. Michelle bopping to her right, stops, walks Selena into a looping overhand right to stop her in her tracks. Hook to tummy, hook to tummy; Keegan, tucking into the American’s ribs, pouring it on down the stretch. Robust pumping two-gun attack thumps against straining breadbasket, beating Gomez in baby-steps back to ropes. Michelle chugging away, working up a sweat as both fighters are huffin’ & puffin’ on their stools for different reasons after the bell.

R3: Selena spitting stubby jabs, bobbing, moving her head, gets under Michelle's stick and it's a different fight. Keegan backpedaling, palming American shoulders as the Gomez presses forward and RIPS to the rib cage. Bell to bell pressure from Selena, thumping away on Michelle's lungs, both fighters trying to cut away each other’s endurance.

R4: Punches getting more and more serious. Michelle dropping in hard right hands off the stick, steps in close and carrying beefy hands thick amidships, clipping her with the off-hand uppercut. Selena nibbling a little low with body shots, flirting with a foul as Keegan rides a forearm on the upperback to press the bigger girl down. Final minute, Michelle sliding back after a break, running Selena onto the jab, lights her up a GORGEOUS right uppercut. Ringing punch the best Keegan's ever thrown in competition--Gomez straightened, head snapped back, buttocks trembling, arms pinwheeling, Michelle wastes precious follow up time just marveling at the sight.

R5: Selena pressing her attack on Michelle’s ribs, walking her down, forcing her backward. Keegan mouthbreathing, trying to push Gomez off by her shoulders or wrapping up uselessly around her head—her tormentor keeps scrabbling, digging, chugging away to the ribs--moist little gasps of pain escaping through parted lips. Michelle stepping straight back, hands low, getting nailed sweeping right hands as Selena steps-with and slugs.

R6: Selena pounds her way into Michelle early, clubbing her about the temples, bashing her shoulders, swinging melee has Keegan on her heels, backpedaling, scrambling to create room. Michelle gets it together, right hand low, chest out, bytchy snarl in place as she jams her jab into Selena's face, establishes distance as she brings the younger girl to heel. Late the round, Keegan able to come forward behind her jab, hurling right hands wide, spanking loud against ribs and tummy, backing Gomez onto ropes. Michelle squaring away to chug like the JMD champion she’s been, getting up into that black-painted rack with both arms swinging, Selena sitting in ropes, soaking up sock at the bell.

R7: Michelle baits a series of traps, fading away from Selena's aggression; dragging the lead foot; walking her into short left hooks and sneaky, crisp right hands to chin. Gomez finally put wobbly-butt by pinpoint strikes, wobbles out of orbit as Keegan goes over to offence. Michelle flat footed as she walks Selena onto the ropes. Keegan pushing her left palm into Selena’s face, then deploying withering buggywhip rights to waist, flirting with a foul. Tight, tight punching - Keegan's right hand finishing up at her left ear as she scrapes away on Gomez. It's all too much, systematic wallop buckles Selena's knees, sending her sliding down Michelle’s body, ending up rump-high on knees and forearms...grim look of determination on Keegan's face as she stalks to neutral corner. Gomez beats the count, finishes the round face-in-gloves, leaning back on the strands. Both outfits thoroughly smeared, Selena’s slide has left Michelle’s thighs blackened to just above the knees.

R8: Michelle dipping and ripping limber uppercuts to tummy, mining quit in the younger fighter’s guts. Selena still feeling last round’s knockdown, but standing firm and hitting back. Pushy left hand sorts out Keegan's tits, slap-chop right punches the Brit's mouth. Michelle swishes a hook over top as Selena ducks: she comes up out of her crouch, catching Keegan nice n' tight to chin! Michelle rocked onto her heels. Jab-jab-jab forces Keegan ropeside, leans in for a pay-back buggywhip right behind left elbow, then ripping away a left uppercut. Michelle gasping, butt-in-ropes: she's forced to slug or be battered, answering hooks-to-jug while leaning onto right leg at ropes. Selena leans into a right cross to chin, Keegan’s head bobbles forward and DOWN SHE GOES! Gomez cleans up on ropes after Michelle makes it to her feet, Keegan covers up to soak to bell. Little bit of extra insurance as Selena lathers away until the ref pulls her off.

R9: Both fighters come out with a determined look, seeking payback for the last two rounds. Exchange of hard shots: Michelle a right cross that the bobbing Selena is able to take to the shoulder, but the youngster’s uppercut gets in under her foe’s mitts and crunches into Keegan’s chin. Michelle’s legs give a shiver as the impact courses through her small frame and high guard drops slightly. Selena plows an overhand right in over the guard to smack the left eye and a lighting quick follow-up left jab to the other one. Keegan reels back, momentarily unable to see her foe, as Gomez rams a thick left uppercut to tummy. Michelle’s legs become entangled and SHE’S DOWN! Keegan lands on her side, then rolls to her back, and tries pathetically to rise, but her body won’t respond! Tears are in her eyes as the referee reaches 10 and it’s a KO9 Selena Gomez!

After: Six wins in a row for the Lioness “Beta” eyes locking with flyweight champ Kendrick in the stands, making a title belt motion around her waist. It’s becoming harder to justify not giving her a crack at the belts. Could this be the year Selena surpasses Jessica?
