Alexis Ren vs Cindy Mello (Lightweight)

Before: First question directed at Alexis during the press conference is the last: foolhardy reporter asks about how Ren feels to be defeated by her hated rival, Alyssa Lynch, in the previous PPV. Immediately, Alexis’ face screws up like a nuclear explosion as she literally lunges herself at the reporter with a shrill scream, both claws out, intending to scratch his eyes out. Officials have to rush in to restrain the screaming banshee, who’s cursing and screaming, “THIS IS HOW I FEEL, B****TCCCHHH!!!”

Cindy Mello, the newest Brazilian model to grace the FCBA and a fellow SI-hopeful in the 2017 auditions, is obviously genuinely shocked at her opponent’s behaviour, but re-composes herself almost immediately, making a mental note never to mention those words within Ren’s earshot, ever.

The Brazilian model takes her time making her way to her corner, removing bits of her clothing at every step to the ring, drawing hoots and cheers from the crowd, marvelling at her pink bikini top and briefs, black gloves. At the other corner, only person able to calm Alexis down it seems is her Head Trainer, Steve Boyd, who’s whispering encouragement face to face with the model.

The referee finally calls for the start of the match, regardless of the mental state of some of the combatants in this Lightweight contest.

Round 1: Alexis is quick and merciless in the opening round, punishing the new rookie with her long jab from afar. The Vixen is bouncing and bobbing and weaving like a wild dervish on hot coals, frequently moving out of the way of Cindy’s counter-blows, which never land. Cindy instead on the receiving end of one-too-many jabs to her guard, then her head, as Alexis bullies her in exponential fashion. The Vixen looks to put her foe away early, looking for a first-round knockout blow with a wild haymaker, but Mello has wits about her to jump backwards, avoiding a fight-ending punch to her face. Cindy retaliates towards the end of the round with some resurgent jabbing of her own, but the Brazilian babe is simply unable to make up for the huge loss of lead from Ren in the first round.

Round 2: Cindy makes up for her inexperience in the second round with her observant nature, predicting Ren’s incoming wild fists, then deflecting them deftly, before shocking the Vixen with sharp, short and sweet punches to her chin and cheek. Ren making the mistake of getting in too close and predictable, pays for it with more than one fist crashing into her face. Cindy now looking confident, knocking her opponent backwards with stronger and stronger blows to the body, drawing outraged squeals from Alexis, who can’t believe the tables have turned on her so quickly. Cindys turn to walk away at the bell with one hand raised high to the crowds, beginning to enjoy the roar of the crowds in her ears as a signal of her excellent performance against someone as experienced as Alexis.

Round 3: sees Ren returning to basics early and effectively, doing away with that wild side of hers at the urging from her corner, now cautiously approaching Cindy with gloves in front of face, probing at Cindy’s own defenses then periodically throwing hard hooks that throw the Brazilian off-guard. Cindy not able to rely on Ren’s predictable punching any longer, her strategy once again thrown into shambles as she’s forced backwards to the ropes with errant right hands from Ren penetrating her guard that land on her body and chin. Ren goes to town now with payback right fists that bunch up Brazilian belly, giving Cindy a taste of brawling boxing action for first time in her long career ahead. Cindy however been training in clinch-work, knows how to keep herself alive in such situations - wraps arms around Alexis’ chest and hugs her close. Now both girls struggling against the ropes for control - Ren gritting teeth and growling in frustration - not used to being controlled in a clinch so easily. Cindy takes advantage of this, slams her fists into side of Ren’s head multiple times, giving her some points for originality. However, Alexis still comes out in the lead overall at the bell.

Round 4: Crowd cheers as both girls dash forward at the bell, eager to get back in the fight now that they’ve gotten a taste of brawling action. They literally crash back into each other’s arms, looping arms around waists and punching wildly with their other hand. Alexis wants to show her dominance in close-quarters fighting, refusing to let a simple rookie steal her thunder - Ren resorts to hair-pulling to achieve this, however, tugging on strands of brunette hair and drawing loud yelps of pain from Cindy, who retaliates with legal but hard punches to the middle of Ren’s gut, doubling the blonde over and drawing dull gasps of her own. Ren unable to subdue the wild stallion that is Cindy Mello, indeed, eats more fists than she dishes out. Cindy’s body bruised in spots with red welts all over at the end of the round, but the model’s smiling at the damage inflicted on Ren, who’s bent over on the ropes, holding onto tummy and gasping for air.

Round 5: Cindy rushes in at the bell, eager to claim first victory over such a worthy opponent. Genuine fear now showing in Ren’s eyes as she sees the brunette charging at her. Cindy shoots blow after blow into Alexis’ close guard, hoping to break the wall and punish body again, but Ren’s defenses are known to be able to take a beating - denying Mello the satisfaction and instead expertly landing shot after shot into the rushing girl’s chin. Cindy doesn’t realise her foolhardy mistake until it’s too late - third such uppercut to her chin completely disorients her and throws her backwards! Alexis now letting out a cry of rage as she rushes in, batters tummy with a left-right-left-right combination, then blasting right hand into side of brunette’s face - beautiful hook simply FLOORS CINDY WHERE SHE’S STANDING - Mello is down on her back, blinking up at the blinding lights!!

Alexis curses down at her with pure spite, throwing in a ‘Marshmallow’ insult in there somewhere, but the ref quickly herds her back to corner and begins the count:

3...4… Cindy is still blinking up at the ceiling, trying to roll over to her side at least.

5...6… Commentators still floored (no pun intended) by Ren’s beauty of a right-hook that nearly took Cindy’s head off at the neck - the moment replayed over and over on the large LCD screens in the crowd, whilst Cindy is in difficult position of trying to find ropes for support but unable to do so, being right in the middle of the ring.

Valiant Brazilian girl attempts to rise up from one knee at the count of 8, but collapses back down to all fours in a daze - referee counts her out at 10!! It’s over!!


Official Decision: Alexis Ren defeats Cindy Mello via KO5!


After: Alexis Ren looks like she barely broke a sweat here, mounting the four corners of the ring-posts and bellowing out both insults and celebrations to the crowd. Perhaps last month’s shock defeat to arch-rival Alyssa Lynch was merely a blip in her otherwise flawless career thus far. If anything, Ren has clearly proved her dominance here once again.

Cindy Mello taken a hard lesson in her debut match - perhaps not a good idea after all to face someone as enraged and seeking payback like Ren. Nonetheless, pundits liking what they’ve seen tonight in Mello’s spunk and of course impressive physique - Cindy still cheered on by the crowds as she makes a brave exit from the ring.
