Olivia Munn vs. Danielle Fishel

(Words: FS / Results: Lookout!)

BEFORE:

"We've been through some changes at Sceej, but that's over now and I'll be getting regular work," says Olivia with a smile. "Which means this is a great time for me to get back into the title picture. And, beating Danielle Fishel is the next step in doing that."

"Munn's only got two things wrong," says a hard-eyed Dani. "Who's going to win and who's going to get back into the title picture."

ROUND ONE:

Things go according to script in the first. Both of these girls like to get physical, and that's exactly what happens right off the opening bell. The much-shorter Fishel works her way inside and begins fighting off Olivia's shoulder. And, Munn's OK with that. The result is a grinding round fought in a phone booth and featuring a TON of body work. And, while Olivia's very good at this kind of thing, there's nobody better at digging body than Hall of Famer Danielle Fishel. Nobody. And, that becomes evident as the round goes on. Oh, Olivia holds her own. She does plenty of damage. She works up and back down and scores points. But, it's the sustained barrage of leather, almost all of it landing between the belt and the bustline, from Fishel that wins the day. By the bell, Dani's put enough distance between herself and the younger woman to claim the round and the 10-9 lead.

ROUND TWO:

Fishel right back in Munn's grill to start the second. Again, Olivia happy to fight this way, confident she can win a battle of attrition to the body, even against the legendary "Tank". The confidence, however, looks awfully misplaced about 45 seconds in, when Fishel digs a left hook to the body that bunches up Munn and follows with a short right uppercut that sends Oliva staggering backward. MUNN IS HURT! And ON COMES DANI! Fishel looking to finish this thing in early and shocking fashion, making with the heavy guns, winging away with both hands, driving a wobbly Olivia into the ropes and absolutely laying waste to both head and body. Munn reeling. Referee looking in. Fishel seemingly one punch away from ending this thing for over a minute. But, the punch never comes. Olivia survives the round, but, it's Dani wide and with a 20-18 lead.

ROUND THREE:

Munn has learned the error of her ways. Or, perhaps, with her legs still balky, she's forced to change plans. Either way, she comes out jabbing in the third, looking to create space, keep Dani off. Fishel troubled early, as Livvy's plenty accurate with the left, able to keep the shorter woman out on the end of it and set her up for hard right hands. Looks like quite the turnabout for the first half of the round. Munn's gone from getting battered to taking control. All that noise quickly ends, however, as Dani begins to find holes in Livvy's defenses. With her legs still not all the way back, Munn can't maintain the range she wants and Fishel's able to get inside where she goes right back to work in the phone booth. Second half of the round belongs to Dani, who tenderizes body and lands solid shot to the head. By the bell, it's close, but, Olivia's done enough early to gain her first points of the night and cut Fishel's lead to 29-28.

ROUND FOUR:

Munn moving better now, and that's making all the difference. She's again accurate with the jab, slowing down Dani as Fishel tries to close. And, now that she's got those athletic legs working, she's able to use a drop step to circle and create space even when Fishel gets past her glove. Result is a Munn romp in the fourth. Dani can't get to her spots, and she's taking heavy fire trying to do so. She's not hurt, but she's getting more than a little touched up, and things just get worse as the round goes on. Fishel's stopped in her tracks several times by hard rights from Olivia. To her credit, she shakes off every one of them and gets right back to work trying to close. But, those efforts are in vain. Munn's at range for three solid minutes, and she does plenty of damage there. At the bell, it's Olivia wide and, after four, we're even at 38.

ROUND FIVE:

Fishel slowly solving Munn again. She's cutting the ring now, then working in, where she can bang body and generally make life miserable for the taller brunette. Munn fires back in kind when they're in close, holding her own to a point, but, this is Dani's element, and she's getting the better of things in it for two minutes. For the last minute, she gets MUCH the better of things. Again, it comes off a hook to the body that bunches up Munn. Fishel follows with a short right hook and OLIVIA'S HURT AGAIN! Munn staggers, stumbles, nearly goes down. And, Fishel's instantly all in, driving all before her, trapping her rival against the ropes, and absolutely abusing her. Again, it looks like Dani's one punch away, but, again, that punch never lands. Munn's great legs hold her up, but, at the bell, Fishel's won it wide and gotten back on the lead 48-47.

ROUND SIX:

Fishel looking to finish now. She's got Munn on the run and wants to take full advantage. Tank boring forward, letting both hands go. Livvy being forced to give ground, cover up, play defense. Fishel working upstairs more now, but still paying plenty of attention to the body. She's THUMPING Olivia, who's quickly in full retreat. Within 30 seconds, Munn is rope bound, covering up, taking heavy fire. Referee looking in closely and DOWN GOES DANI! Munn lands a perfectly-timed right hook and Fishel crumples to the mat at Olivia's feet! Crowd going nuts as Munn steps over Fishel to get to a neutral corner. Dani puddled as the count begins. Munn wobbly in the corner as she watches it progress. And, Dani's STILL puddled when the referee reaches ten. She's OUT! And it's OVER! And your winner by KO6 in shocking fashion is Olivia Munn!

AFTER:

Munn bruised, battered, but still jubilant in the aftermath. "That was a war," she says with a shake of the head, "But, that's exactly what I expected. This is the best division in the FCBA, and, if you want to get back to the top, you've got to go through girls like Dani Fishel. It isn't easy. But, I did it once. And, I'm going to do it again."
