Before: Olivia Wilde is all smiles at the prefight press conference: “I’ve been in this fed since 2009 and this is only my second title shot. I got stopped by Claire Holt back in 2015, but I’m determined that’s not going to happen again. This time I will win and bring the Bantam title home to the BFC! No disrespect Troi, I appreciate your giving me this shot, but I don;’t want to go home empty-handed again.”

“I have no problem with Olivia wanting to win,” Troian tells the reporters when her turn at the podium comes. “I wouldn’t be interested in fighting someone who didn’t. I am proud to be a fighting champion and I mean to go on being champion as long as I can. I expecting a real challenge from Olivia, but that will bring out my best to ensure I keep the belts for the PLP.”

Both fighters are in good spirits, eager to go and looking great as they enter the ring. Troian ins in a gold bikini with black. Black gloves and boots with gold lacings. Her hair in a battle braid interwoven with gold ribbon. Olivia in sky blue bikini with dark blue gloves and boots (light blue lacings). Olivia hair in a simple ponytail. Fight instructions go smoothly. Nice swipe of the gloves and champ and challenger are back in their corners. The bell rings. The fight is on!

R1: Dukes up and cautiously circling each other, Troian and Olivia exchange jabs as they size each other up. Then Troian makes a move left, but reverses and brings a smashing right to the side of Liv’s head. Liv’s head flattened against opposite shoulder and she stumbles away. Troian moving to cut the challenger off, but Olivia’s covering up while the ringing stops in her head. Troian obliged to bang away at Olivia’s flanks without getting much response. Late in the round, Olivia pops up and shows her jab. Troian smacked up some to face and chest, but counters back to Olivia’s body. Troian trying to move Olivia back, but the Bazz fighter is digging behind the jab and she’s not budging. However round goes to the champ wide on the judges’ cards.

R2: Olivia much more aggressive at the start of this round. She works Troian hard to the belly with her opening shot then adds some stinging shots to the ribs. Troian retrying to adjust and get her counters in, but Olivia’s more elusive this round. Steady working around the ring as the two trade punches from a distance. Then Olivia tests the waters inside with a drive forward that shakes the champ with some hard hooks to the ribs and then Olivia slips in a right uppercut to the chin. Troian jabbing back trying to keep Olivia off and she is getting some hard smacks to Olivia’s face. Olivia circling, looking for openings, but not finding much. Troian following, keeping up the jab an is able to make the round close by the bell. However it is still Olivia’s round.

R3: Troian comes charging out hard this round. It appears Olivia’s offense in R2 has made the champion feel challenged and she’s more than ready to take it up. Olivia eats hard swiping rights and lefts to the guts, then Troian brings uppercuts in to smack the undersides of Olivia’s breasts. Olivia seems startled at the jugg attack and the confusion allows Troian to bring left and left uppies in under Olivia’s chin. Olivia’s head knocked back and she totters back to the ropes as Troian scrambles to take advantage. Troian gets in a good flurry of body punching before Olivia clinches and buys herself some time. Troian eager to get back to pounding the challenger, but Olivia has moved to midring and is covering face in gloves. Troian looks frustrated as the defensive tactic works to keep Olivia on her feet, but Troian wins the round in a shutout.

R4: Olivia a bit slow to start this round, but quick to take advantage when Troian comes in close with her defenses loose. Olivia gives Troian’s jaw a couple of solid rights and then stuffs a left into her belly. Troian struggling for air as she backs up and Olivia is smacking more punches to Troian’s jaw before the champ can get her guard up. Then Olivia works Troian’s midsection and slowly driving her back, but then Troian manages to rally late with a flurry of jabs and counters. Olivia blocked, tries working her way around the champ, but Troian able to maintain her defenses as the round ends. Nevertheless, the round is Olivia’s by a wide margin,.

R5: Troian comes battling back in this round, but Olivia is ready for her and this quickly turns into a blazing slugfest at close range. Troian working Olivia body, but Olvia giving it right back to the champ’s body. Leather is smacking hard into straining bodies as Olivia and Troian struggle for domination. Troian seems to be ahead at one point as her body attack is doubling Olivia forward, but then Olivia comes snarling back with hard shots to the chin that send Troian backwards. Troian somehow staying up and using her jab, but she’s slowing down. Olivia upping the pressure just enough to ensure she wins a close round.

R6: The fight for control of the fight continues as Troian and Olivia come out fighting hard. They clash first at midring and then start moving as they seem to be circling each for to gain advantage. Then they come together for a flurry of head swiveling punch exchanges that only briefly slows them down. After a few moments to regroup they close back in. Olivia trying for the head while Troian is pumped leather into Olivia’s midsection. Olivia finally gets Troian ducking, but she maintains the body punches that have Olivia trying to move evasively. Then they get in even closer bringing hooks up into breast and ribs. Loud, moist smacking noises can be heard but neither fighter will back down. In fact, the referee is obliged to jump in when they ignore the bell to keep punching. Now they stand there blinking wearily at each other before turning away. Judges decide to call this round a draw.

R7: Looks like the fighters want to settle this up close and personal. Bell rings and they are right back in toe to toe action trying to break each other down to the body. You can see the grimacing and hear the gasps as the punches strike home, but every punch seems to be answered by another. Then Troian starts to find ways to strike at Olivia’s chin. They aren’t heavy blows, but they keep coming and Olivia is starting to get sluggish late in the round. Round ends and Troian steps back. Olivia looks around like she’s not sure where she’s at, but then seems recognize her corner. Troian watches quietly and then turns away.

R8: Lot of work done on Olivia during break, but she does not look good coming of her stool. She had her gloves up defensively but is moving slowly as a wary Troian closes in on her. Troian makes a couple of quick flicks at Olivia’s head to draw her attention and then unleashes a powerful stream of hooks into Olivia’s belly. Olivia hunching up and then Troian puts a hard right into Olivia’s solar plexus. Olivia just freezes with a look of agony on her face and seconds later Troian’s blockbuster right crunches into her jaw. Olivia spins away and crashes forward onto her face, arms at her sides. OLIVIA WILDE IS OUT! Referee takes one look and calls for bell. It’s OVER!

THE WINNER AND STILL BANTAMWEIGHT CHAMPION: TROIAN BELLISARIO KO8!

After: Bazz corner crew swarms to the fallen Olivia Wilde. Troian Bellisario watching worriedly from her own corner as Olivia is brought around and then assisted back to her stool as crowd cheers her valiant effort. Troian goes over to hug Olivia and tell her: “You will get this belt one of these days—just not tonight.”

“She was everything I expected her to be,” Troian tells the press later, “I don’t want to second guess her management but I don’t think she should have come back after the 7th. It would have been no shame to throw in the towel, but I respect from not wanting to do that. She really pushed me and it was a satisfying win. Who is next? I have no idea. I fight one girl at a time. I have no plans for my next defense.”

Olivia speaks the press: “I have to disagree with Troian—I was not that hurt after R7. Pointy asked me if I wanted to go on and I sure did. If I had to go out on my shield—well that’s better than throwing in the towel. I am disappointed I couldn’t beat her, but I’m going to stay in contention and hope I won’t have to wait two years for my next title shot.”

Plenty of back and forth action kept this bantam title fight exciting to the end. Fighters very even until Troian was able to rock Olivia in R7 and then finish her off in the 8th. Troian having a very nice title run, but history shows the title defenses seldom get easier as their number increases. Meanwhile, Olivia Wilde seems likely to remain in serious bantam title contention as the year goes on. A good night for bantamweight fans.
