Results: Lookout     Words" The Wiz

BEFORE:

"I always like coming to Philadelphia," says Rosamund with a lovely smile. "I've done pretty well for myself here. And, that's not going to change tonight."

"She's definitely dangerous," says Daniela with a nod. "We've all seen that. But, I'm dangerous, too, as she's about to find out."

ROUND ONE:

O'Dell: "Back at ringside and that's 'Die Another Day' by Madonna, and here comes the Bond girl herself, Rosamund Pike!"

Cassie: "Pike's been to Asylum before. Lost a decision to Serinda Swan. Couldn't handle Torv..."

McCarthy: "Of COURSE not, because, Torv is the only REAL fighter Weirdo HAS!"

Cassie: "But, last time out, she upset Kesha. So, this girl is far from in over her head."

O'Dell: "Rosamund into the ring and helped off with the robe to reveal that eggshell bikini she likes. And, the crowd definitely appreciates it as well. And, that's 'Nothing Else Matters' by Metallica, and here comes 'The Portuguese Princess', Daniela Ruah..."

Tess: "And, we say this all the time with Front Street lightweights. Light is a VERY crowded division here and girls need to perform to avoid getting buried. Dani's probably near the bottom of the pecking order right now, so she needs this one tonight."

O'Dell: "Ruah into the ring and helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve. She's wearing that baby blue number we've come to know well, and the crowd likes that as well..."

McCarthy: "Again. Philly. Low standards."

O'Dell: "Aaaannnd, the ladies are about ready to go. Time for some picks. Tess likes Daniela. Mac

McCarthy: "Pike HAS an FCBA win. She's the pick."

O'Dell: "Cassie?"

Cassie: "I agree with Tess

O'Dell: "We have a split panel. Let's see who's right. Ladies get to range right away, no surprise, as they're both plenty long and they both like to box. Ruah working that heavy Front Street jab very well in the early going, getting it on Pike and following with hard right hands..."

McCarthy: "IT. IS. A. JAB. ALL. FIGHTERS. HAVE. A. JAB!"

O'Dell: "But, not quite like this one. Ruah stopping Rosamund cold with it and ROCKING HER WITH A FOLLOW ON RIGHT HAND! Pike stumbles backward and covers up as Ruah lets the hands go just a minute and a half into the fight! Pike backed immediately to the ropes and she's taking a TON of leather..."

Tess: "Referee's noticed, Jenny! He's looking at this very carefully."

O'Dell: "Indeed he is. Ruah swinging for glory here as Pike rolls with, jabs back in spots, just trying to hang on here. Daniela a GOOD left hook that shook Pike again. Referee not going to watch much more of this. Ruah hooking a little body now, trying to bring the guard down. Pike keeping it high, lands a good right hand counter and there's the bell. Rosamund survives, but it's Ruah wide in the first."

Cassie: "Pretty good defensive stuff from Pike, there. She was in real trouble and got out of it."

ROUND TWO:

O'Dell: "Second begins with an aggressive Ruah working forward behind that heavy left. Pike using a drop step to give a little ground and turn right, away from the brunette's power. Blonde showing that good footwork and the nice head, shoulder, and hand movement we've seen from her before."

Cassie: "No question, Pike is slick. And, as we've seen, she has power, too. All this girl would have needed to succeed in the FCBA was consistent work."

O'Dell: "And, even without it, we've seen how effective she can be, and we're seeing it now. She's managing Ruah's offense very, very well and scoring in counter. A round after getting taken to the woodshed, she's fighting Daniela on even terms, and that's pretty good stuff in itself."

McCarthy: "I do like the boxing ability. No doubt about that. If this girl had just had a great trainer like J-Mac..."

O'Dell: "Coming down the stretch in the second. Good, two-way stuff from the beginning of this one. Pike scoring with a hard right hand counter. Ruah a nice combination and Rosamund fires right back! Best exchange of the fight so far and it takes us to the bell! Close one. Pike."

Tess: "And, we're even at 19."

ROUND THREE:

O'Dell: "Back to work in the third, and, again, it's Ruah the more offensive-minded of the two, with the blonde looking to work in counter. Dani wants to bring that power to bear, working the left hand to try and set it up. Pike all about fouling the sights, gumming up the offensive works and then scoring in counter..."

Cassie: "BIG RIGHT HAND, PIKE!"

O'Dell: "And it staggers Ruah! Rosamund a BRILLIANT right-hand counter and Ruah's hurt! Pike now backing up the brunette with fields of fire, driving Daniela to the ropes and having at her. Ruah in the high guard, head being banged from side to side as Pike bounces punches off that tight earmuff!"

McCarthy: "This isn't the first time we've seen this kind of thing from Pike. She's pulled one upset here, and she's close to a second!"

O'Dell: "Thirty seconds remaining in the third. Rosamund banging away, looking for the shot that will finish it. Ruah grimly hanging on here, trying to counter when she can, just looking to get to the bell. Pike making that awfully difficult, shaking Dani with another right hand. Just ten seconds left. Ruah going to ride it out. There's the bell. Pike. Wide."

Tess: "And, Rosamund now in the lead, 29-28."

ROUND FOUR:

O'Dell: "Pike very aggressive early. She's obviously looking to follow up on last round. Ruah giving a little canvas, but seems to have a lot of the leg back. Rosamund takes a SOLID right hand counter right there, and that's the end of the offensive. Pike now going to set up at gunnery range and box..."

Tess: "As we've noted in the past, Rosamund has a good head on her shoulders, and it didn't take her long to figure that Dani was stabilizing the front and any further pressing of the issue probably wasn't a good idea."

O'Dell: "Instead, we're seeing more of that slick boxing from the blonde. And, for her part, Dani Ru answering, and pretty well, too. The brunette has always been able to put punches together and, that's exactly what she's doing now, leading with that heavy left jab, as usual."

Cassie: "Pike showing excellent hands here, out and back, everything setting up everything else."

O'Dell: "We're definitely seeing the best technical round of the fight. Thirty seconds to go and nothing in it. Both blonde and brunette scoring well, neither hurt, but both taking good, accurate shot. Ten seconds left. Good left hook from Ruah backed Pike up a step and there's the bell. Razor thin. Ruah."

McCarthy: "And, if you're right, it's 38 all after four."

ROUND FIVE:

O'Dell: "Into the fifth now, and we're back to that ranged boxing we saw in the last round. Not a surprise, since both ladies got plenty of work done on these terms. Pike a quick flurry that forces Ruah to cover up, and then ANOTHER. Blonde getting into a really nice rhythm now but RUAH ROCKS HER WITH A RIGHT HAND!"

Cassie: "Can't believe Pike didn't go down on that one!"

O'Dell: "Rosamund GOBSMACKED! Stumbling around the ring as Dani goes all in, battering her back into the ropes and then calling in artillery strike after artillery strike. Pike again playing the survival game on the cables, rolling with punches, keeping the guard high, putting the body on sale..."

Tess: "And, Ruah not buying at any price right now. She's trying to finish this thing."

O'Dell: "She is at that. Referee looking in closely as Ruah sends the blonde stumbling along the ropes with a solid right hand. Pike with the gloves back up, countering when she can. She's keeping the ship afloat at the final seconds of the round tick away. One more BIG flurry from Ruah and there's the bell. Dani in a shutout."

McCarthy: "And, that puts her up 48-47 at the half."

ROUND SIX:

O'Dell: "Ruah looking to press the advantage now. Rosamund still looking a bit wobbly. Brunette coming forward behind that big left jab. Pike giving ground, but not going straight back. She's turning, working the feet as much as she can, trying to avoid getting trapped on the ropes."

Tess: "You're right about her not having the legs all the way back, Jenny, but she's showing all that slickness we've been talking about."

O'Dell: "Dani trying to line the blonde up. Slowly working her backward, lands a good right hand that forces Pike to cover up. Dani steps to, works some body, getting physical in there. Pike tying up, trying to slow Ruah down. Dani a nice uppercut that got Rosamund's attention and then a BIG RIGHT HAND!"

Cassie: "How is Pike STANDING?"

O'Dell: "Rosamund steppin' in fence post holes. And RUAH BLASTS HER WITH A STRAIGHT RIGHT AND DOWN GOES PIKE! Rosamund blown to her back. Dani quickly to a neutral corner. Count at three. Four. Five. Six..."

McCarthy: "GET UP, PIKE!"

O'Dell: "Eight. Nine. TEN! It's OVER! And your winner by KO6 is 'The Portuguese Princess', Daniela Ruah!"

AFTER:

O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"

Tess: "I have our winner, Daniella Ruah, and, Dani, you said before the fight she was dangerous..."

Daniela (nodding): "No doubt about it. We've seen it in the past, right here in this building. And, we saw it again tonight. She got me in some serious trouble, and that's not easy to do."

Tess: "But, you found a way out and then, when you got the chance, you were able to finish."

Daniela: "That was the key, finishing her right then. Because, it was anybody's fight to that point, and I'm not trying to go another four or five rounds with her. When you get a girl like that on the ropes, you've got to seal the deal, and that's just what I did."
