Intro:
The first of the two semi final bouts in the New Blood bantamweight semi final bout sees Naomi Scott fight Odeya Rush.
Naomi is of course famous for being in the latest Power Rangers movie, but she was also in a TV show named Terra Nova, she is from Hounslow, London.
Odeya has been in movies like The Giver and Goosebumps, she is from Haifa, Is real; though she now resides in Los Angeles.
The girls meet at the press conference, both going to the centre of the stage, no real anger between them, just two women who know that they have to beat the other to get what they want in their careers, their faces showing how serious this fight is going to be.
The girls nod at the organisers as they are told that they have to go to their seats, after sitting down; it's Naomi who is giving the chance to speak first.
"I am in heaven career wise, so when I was offered the chance to take part in this tournament, I couldn't agree quick enough because this is the tournament that will get me the step up in my career" smiling as she says it.
Adding "The FCBA is the place to help advance your career in and out the ring, so if I can prove I belong in a stable" as she nods to the press.
Now it's Odeya's turn to speak, she has a much more serious look as she looks over the journalists, before taking a breath and speaking.
"Naomi is correct on all points, but she seems to be forgetting one thing, no offence but you seem to think you are already in the final, so when you are beaten and sitting on a chair at home with your mom taking care of you, see how much you forget me" she says.
Naomi not happy of course to hear that but Odeya looks her in the eye and adds "we are both in the same boat right now, I can honestly see us both seeing each other a lot over our careers, so this is where we set the starting mark and when we retire, only one of us will look back at our careers with a smile, I won't let that be you"
Naomi stands up and tells Odeya "do you think I'll let you walk by me?" As both girls move to stand nose to nose, Odeya not showing any fear of her opponent, Odeya maybe is right about these two seeing each other a lot as the pundits feel the intensity radiating off both girls.
They separate before they attack each other, though their faces are full of rage, clearly they were prepared to slap the other if it came to it, sadly for the journalists that they didn't go down that route.
Fight night, Naomi is out first wearing a neon pink one piece swimsuit, maybe wanting to channel her pink power ranger character as she also has white gloves and her hair tied into a short ponytail.
Pumping her right fist to the crowd as she jogs down to the ring, trying to get the fans behind her she certainly has fans in the crowd.
Climbing into the ring, she looks utterly focused on the task as she heads to her corner, doing stretches to get ready for the test in front of her.
Said test is heading out now, Odeya is wearing a white one piece swimsuit and matching gloves, her hair is also in a ponytail as she bangs her gloves together.
Before she walks down to the ring at a deliberate pace, not wanting to get worked up by the situation, blowing a kiss to her fans as she gets to the bottom of the ramp.
Then after climbing into the ring, she heads to the ring centre and bows to each side of the ring, till both girls eyes meet and there's a hard stare between the girls, before she heads to her corner to do her own warm up routine.
Halle Berry is the special referee for this tournament, she signals for both fighters to head to the ring centre for the final instructions.
Both fighters just staring the other down till they are asked to touch gloves, both bump gloves but quickly jog back to their corners, wanting to get started quickly to prove they are the better woman.
Halle looks at her watch before signaling to the time keeper to ring the bell to begin 10 rounds of bantamweight action.
Round 1:
Out come the girls with similar looking styles, gloves up high and circling, Naomi looks the quicker on her feet, moving to the side of Odeya, jabbing away towards her cheeks.
Odeya to her credit shows good hands to protect herself, but she's already on the back foot as Naomi looking to show the crowd why she was picked in the tournament.
The English fighter though finding it hard to break down the guard of her opponent though to do any real damage, till she changes up her target to work the body of Rush.
Odeya grunting with each shot that lands, but now she has a slight opening to strike back and swings a right cross that connects to the cheek of Naomi and gives her the chance she was looking for to attack.
Naomi though shows that good footwork again to slip back out the way of a follow up left, Odeya finally opening up and the English fighter snaps in a double jab to the top of her head.
But as she tries to drive forwards, Odeya shows her toughness, taking a good right hand to her cheek and landing her own right and adds a left cross to knock Naomi's head around.
Odeya looks to have the power of the two, starting to land punches through the guard of Naomi, letting her hands go as she knows she needs to show her own class.
Soon the girls square up as the seconds tick away, Naomi nearly catching Odeya with her head under her chin as she moves forwards to back her up.
Odeya though shoves Naomi back and lands a right hook just before the bell to rock Scott back a step and lands a left just under the jug of Naomi to force her to gasp.
The round ends with both girls looking each other up and down to see what damage they've done, Naomi looking on with a slight smirk as the fighters turn around back to their corners, knowing she's started well, can she keep the momentum?
Round 2:
Naomi looking to start quickly as she bolts out her corner, bashing Odeya with a right and left hook to the body, forcing more grunts from the Israeli fighter.
But Odeya lands a hard straight punch up the center of Naomi's guard, knocking her head back and quickly steps in to land another two punches up the centre.
The English fighter covering up as Odeya powers forwards, digging her shots up top and bouncing her punches off the arms of Naomi, grunting with effort as she tries to break the guard.
Naomi slips past a straight to land a right hook that shoves Odeya back, but she misses a follow up left as Odeya leans back and counters with a right of her own.
Odeya forcing Naomi around the ring, her opponent stuck on the retreat as she headhunts, using her jab to keep Scott behind her guard.
Before she shows some of her own speed to move to the side of Naomi as the English fighter tries to move out the way of the powerful Odeya.
A left hook puts Naomi onto the ropes, Odeya stepping in to attack the body of Scott, forcing groans from her now as she puts her head on the guard of her opponent.
Naomi pulling Odeya into a clinch, Odeya pressing Naomi onto the ropes, scrubbing her back against the ropes to add to her discomfort.
Halle separating the girls with Naomi moves off the ropes to create space with the round nearing an end.
Naomi throwing two cross punches to get something out of this round as Odeya moves back a step, the bell ringing not long after to end the round.
Odeya looking more relaxed as she heads back to her corner, staring across at Naomi as she sits on her stool, thinking "I'm going to hurt you badly"
Round 3:
Naomi looks surprised as Odeya is the one who gets out of her corner quickly, digging her jab into the face of her opponent.
Forcing Naomi towards the ropes, the crowd roaring both girls on as they pound away at each other, the Power Rangers star is stuck on the ropes and her head is getting turned side to side.
Naomi now surprises Odeya by pushing her off and moving into space to clear her head, though Rush is moving forwards to keep on the attack.
Digging away at the body of Naomi with three shots, before Odeya takes a straight to her nose to slow down her assault.
Odeya continues to come on the attack, throwing two more straight like punches that Naomi covers up from and moves back out the way.
A right misses as Naomi ducks under it and she comes back out of the couch with an uppercut that snaps Odeya's head back.
Again Odeya shows her toughness as she stumbles back but still isn't as badly hurt as expected, getting a look of desperation from her rival.
Odeya tries to get back onto the front foot, but Naomi is on the attack as well, leading to a hard exchange of punches, both trying to set their feet as they strike fast and hard.
The Israeli fighter looking like she's going to get back on top, but her opponent steps back and lands a double jab between her eyes to stun her.
The bell rings though before Naomi can drive her advantage, Odeya looking at her opponent with some respect, but they both know that this is the fight that will set their careers on the path to success or the one that leads to failure.
Both fighters faces reddened up and their hair is coming loose from their ponytails to show you the power they are hitting each other with.
Round 4:
Both come out more methodically in their movements, not rushing to get into each others faces as they start with single punches to try and find an opening.
Naomi digging her jab past the guard of Odeya, but she gets caught up the centre by her younger opponent, who snaps a double jab of her own and then a right cross to shove her onto her heels.
Odeya knocking Naomi towards the ropes with several strikes to her face, the English fighter just escapes as a right hook comes towards her chin and takes a straight onto her own chin.
Back and forth swings the momentum as Naomi gets some good shots in on the move, till she gets caught and then Odeya powers her back towards the ropes.
Finally as the round is heading to into it's final minute, Naomi slips under a left and comes back up with an overhand right that rocks Rush.
Naomi powering forwards with a barrage of punches that Odeya attempts to block but eats several shots to her lips and nose that cause her to yelp.
Odeya pressed onto the ropes and trying her hardest to fight off them, getting clipped to the cheek as the fight becomes scruffy.
The bell rings with Halle having to shove the hot tempered girls apart, both glaring at the other but Naomi knows she finally hurt Odeya as she heads back to her corner and watches her opponent get cleaned up and her whispering to her coach.
Round 5:
Out come the girls with Odeya trying to drive her way up the inside, straight punches bouncing off Naomi's guard, but stopping Scott from landing anything herself.
That is till Naomi sidesteps a wild right, Odeya showing her inexperience and her opponent makes her pay with a left hook that cracks her chin.
Odeya looks rocked again as Naomi comes onto the front foot, landing rights and lefts that turn the head of the Goosebumps star.
A right hook to the chin of Odeya seems to be the off button as down she goes to her side after her head turns to the side and her eyes shut.
The referee waves Naomi back to a neutral corner as Odeya is stirring, but as the count is happening; she isn't making an effort to get up as she rolls to her back and Halle reaches 10 to end the fight!
Winner: Naomi Scott KO Round 5
After:
Screaming "come on!" At the top of her lungs, Naomi raising her fists as she does a lap of honour, knowing she's over one hurdle, just one more win needed to be the next New Blood champion.
Odeya meanwhile is helped by her coach up and over to her stool, she lightly sobs as this isn't what she envisioned when she entered the tournament.
Naomi of course isn't thinking of her anymore as she gets her face cleaned up and her gloves taken off, before both girls are brought to the ring centre for the result announcement.
Halle raising the beaming as her hand is raised and Odeya does give her a respectful applause, but quickly leaves the ring at the first chance she gets.
An interviewer comes into the ring to talk to Naomi, wanting a quick statement from the victor, who looks happy to give one.
"Phew can she hit, as much as I hate to admit it, Odeya can fight but she found out why you don't mess with me" says Naomi as she waves to a few of her supporters in the front row.
She quickly adds "I know whoever I get in the final is going to be tough, but I am going to train as hard as I did to become a Power Ranger in the movies and that trophy is going to be in my cabinet"
Naomi thanks the journalist before she climbs out of the ring, her coach telling her how good a job she did, though she knows she had some tough moments to get past to win.
Now it's onto the PPV for the biggest fight of her young life, as she heads to the back and the second semi final is about to start.
