MELISSA BENOIST VS ELIZABETH OLSEN
Results: Lookout Writing: Archer
Melissa: 28 YO, 5’8 (1.73 m), 3-3-0 (3 KO) since 2015, Pretty Little Punchers
Elizabeth: 28 YO, 5’7 (1.70), 15-13-0 (11 KO) since 2012, Free Agent

Before: “I consider myself still a rookie,” said Melissa Benoist at the pre-fight press conference. “I am learning more with every fight. Now that I am with the Punchers I think I have reached a stage where I can take on someone of Elizabeth Olsen’s caliber and make it a good fight. I want to be a contender and being able to beat someone like Elizabeth would go a long way in establishing my credibility.”

Elizabeth Olsen wants to make one thing clear: “I was released by the Academy a year ago, though they have been helpful in allowing me to use their gym and handle fight arrangements like this one. Since I am a ‘Free Agent’ this is an important fight for me. Melissa is one of those ‘rookies with potential’—I should know, I was one myself. Beating her will get me some needed attention. Free agents can’t be choosy. I understand certain promoters want this to be ‘The Scarlet Witch’ vs ‘Supergirl’. I think it’s cheesy, but, hey, if it gets me a fight, I’m not complaining, See you in the ring—Supergirl.”

Melissa blushes: “I wasn’t going to bring that up, but, yeah, comic book and movie fans love a ‘gimmick fight’ like that. You know I did beat Laura Vandervoort in a ‘War of the Supergirls’—so don’t go underestimating me, Miss Scarlet.”

Elizabeth smiles: “Oh, I would never do that—and, for the record, I beat Laura myself. I expect to do that to you, too, Miss Supergirl.”

“Supergirl”vs “The Scarlet Witch” making for some nice publicity angles going into the fight. The theme is carried on in their ring costumes with Elizabeth in a scarlet red bandeau top bikini and with Melissa in a red bikini bottom and blue bandeau top with the customary “S” logo in a yellow and white in the center. Brown leather gloves and boots for Elizabeth. Blue boots and gloves with red laces. Both ladies wearing their hair pulled back in elaborate battle braids down their backs. No nonsense ring instructions, though both fighters looking eager to get this going and soon enough the bell rings to start the action…

R1: Liz and Melissa out of their corners quickly and clash at midring. Liz showing a lot of aggression early, striking hard with the right to bang up Melissa’s jaw and chin. Melissa trying to make herself less of a target with upper body movement and countering back with rights and lefts straight into Liz’s body. Liz trying to circle, then reverse to throw Melissa off balance, but Melissa quickly able to strike back with some nice hits to the chin. Elizabeth then tries to move in close and work the Puncher fighter’s body, but Melissa meeting the attack with a solid flurry of accurate jabbing to chest and then into the head. Elizabeth falls back to regroup, but Melissa goes after her and they have a brisk exchange of body punching to the bell. Close round, but judges give it to Melissa Benoist narrow.

R2: Elizabeth has some experience in JMD and she knows how that can shake up a rookie. She goes “full jugg” with this round as she puts a whirlwind of leather into Melissa’s bikini top. Melissa looking confused as her rack comes under determined attack and she is weak in countering the barrage. Melissa getting herself back into the ropes, but the feel of the strands against her back and butt seem to snap her out of her daze, She hunches up and clinches again and again to break up Liz’s momentum. Then she gets her jab going and tries to stay out of the ropes. Liz maintaining pressure, adding some belly punches and head shots just to keep Melissa from concentrating on boob defense. Rounds ends with Melissa breathing hard (she kept getting the air knocked out of her lungs) and looking more than a little shell shocked. Liz smiling as she watches Melissa go slowly towards her corner.

R3: Elizabeth trying to keep Melissa confused as she only feints to the chest, but actually tries to bang her hard to the head and hook the belly. Melissa takes some hard ones early, but then counters effectively with the jab. Elizabeth smacked in the mouth and nose as the jabs distract her attack. Fighters circling and firing away. Melissa tries advancing with some vengeful punching of Liz’s puppies. Liz not liking the breast banging, but she is able to drive Melissa back with some counters to the chin. Liz now counterattacks and this sets off some close-in, toe to toe, look-her-in-the-eye-and-see-who-blinks-first action. Crowd loves the two young women getting all hot and sweaty while the smack of leather on wet, straining bodies can be clearly heard. Liz putting on a late belly attack to force Melissa back. Bell sounds. Another close round, but the judges decide in favor of Elizabeth Olsen this time.

R4: Melissa getting some instructions during the break from trainer Nia Peeples. She comes out to greet Elizabeth with quick punches to the face and then drops down to hook the belly with power. Elizabeth doubling up and scooting backwards to recover herself. Melissa moving to cut her off and punch her to the body with the evident intention to driving her to the ropes. Liz not about to go quietly, tries to bang back to the body with Melissa’s chest coming under renewed pounding, Melissa scowling with displeasure at the juggmugging and fires back with some strong puppy pounding of her own. JMD fans loving the blazing bra banging and cheering the fighters on. Melissa smiling as she sees Liz starting to back off the jugg attack, then quickly strikes with straight over hand blows to the chin. Liz throwing up a screen of defensive jabbing to make Melissa more cautious. Melissa now circling, but Liz keeping up with her as they exchange probing punches to the bell. Melissa emerges as the close winner of the round on the cards.

R5: Melissa is off her stool and back to putting full pressure on Elizabeth as the round opens. She goes first to the jugg, smashing Liz’s mounds against her ribcage and making her gasp for air. Then hooks deep to the belly thrust Liz’s upper body forward with a groan. Melissa then puts some muscular uppercuts into Liz’s chin sending her lurching backwards. Then Melissa smashes crisp rights and lefts to the opposite sides of Liz’s jaw and finally, a right uppercut to the middle. Elizabeth Olsen’s knees fold and her gloves drop to her sides as her eyes go blank. Melissa steps back to let Liz sink to her knees and then pitch forward on her face. Melissa to the neutral corner as the referee moves in. Elizabeth lying there moaning. She raises her head at one point, but then puts her cheek on the canvas and resumes sleeping as she is counted out.
THE WINNER: MELISSA BENOIST DEFEATS ELIZABETH OLSEN KO5!

After: “She was a handful,” Melissa tells press afterwards, “and I really didn’t like getting my boobies banged around, but I think I gave as good as I got. She’ll be packing ice into her bra longer than I will. So I feel I accomplished my objective: I beat someone about my age with plenty more experience. I feel ready for the next step. Who? Oh, that would be premature, but I am eager for more. My PLP career has just begun!”

“It hurts and not just from Benoist punching,” a crestfallen Elizabeth says later after she has been revived and pronounced all right. “I could have beaten her, but she rang my bell in R4 and I couldn’t get the cobwebs out of brain in time. I will give her credit for having the ‘killer instinct’ to finish me off when she had the chance, but I will always think this is one I let slip away.”

Good win for Melissa Benoist. Elizabeth Olsen was no jobber, but Melissa able to take her out in 5 after taking some heavy shelling herself. Setback for Elizabeth and, being unmanaged, that makes it even more serious. She’s going to need a comeback win, but winnable matches not easy to come by when you’re free agent. Meanwhile, fans are looking forward to seeing what happens when Melissa takes the next step upward.
