Before: Fight is piped into the FCBA Arena from warm sands of an island resort hotel in the Bahamas. Press events are held in a large tent as oceans breeses take the edge off the heat. Shay Mitchell, the Canadian actress/model is taking on Argentine actress/model Luisana Lopilato. Both are in good humor, but both make one thing clear:
“I like Luisana,” Shay Mitchell puts it, “but I am here—as always—to win. Lui has built up a decent record in her first two years, but it’s time she stepped up and took on a better grade of competition. I don’t mean to brag, but I am a former (and I hope to soon be again) Bantam Champ, I think I will be giving her a big test. We’ll see how well a ‘nice girl” like her see does against me.”

Luisana starting to frown at this: “You think because I am a ‘nice girl’ I cannot beat you?”

“I didn’t say that!” Shay says quickly.

“Sounded like it to me,” says Luisana, “you have lost nearly half your fights, Shay Mitchell. You are not invincible. I have beaten girls who thought they were. You will be the next to fall.”

Shay now the one frowning: “I lost a lot of times, but I think you are mistaken if you think you can beat me.”

“You have—have—a ‘big head’ Shay Mitchell, I am disappointed in that. I will have to beat the arrogance out of you!” Luisana retorts.

“Sounds to me like you are the arrogant one!” returns Shay. “So I will be the one beating the arrogance out of you! I am disappointed in you, too!”

Two of them exchange hurt looks and turn their backs on each other. Then sudden chill in the tent sure isn’t from the ocean breeze now! Unexpected tension between the two “nice girls” getting some attention from fans of grudge matches as the spat goes viral over social media.

The afternoon of the fight finds a traditional “beach and bleachers” set up (though the bleachers are well supplied with comfy cushions. Shay appears in a a white one piece with a tropical green fern print. Green gloves with white laces. Shay’s hair in ponytail. Luisana in a classic black bikini. Black gloves. Hair loose, but wet down. Two looking at each other with hurt, but determined expressions. Both seem intent on proving a point about themselves. Referee does a good job keeping order before dispatching them to their corners. Timekeeper (at a table with the judges) sounds the bell. (PLP General Manager Danielle Harris has accompanied Shay to the resort and will act as her trainer).

R1: Shay moving deftly across the sand and goes right to Luisana’s midsection with her opening shots. Luisana knocked back a few steps before she can return fire with a right bouncing off Shay’s skull to bring her to a stunned halt. Two circle and then Luisana moves in with some quick shots into Shay’s chest. Shay bangs Luisana’s chest in return, but gives her a taste of uppercut to the chin with a quick right uppie. Luisana coming at Shay again, but gets hooked hard to the belly and then hard rights and lefts to the cheekbones. Lui falling back as Shay circles and works her back to the ropes. Luisana fighting back with the jab to keep from being pinned, but Shay churning her elbows like piston rods to use body punching to drive Lui into the strands. Lui wraps Shay up in a clinch they sort of dance back to mid ring until referee can pry them apart. Shay giving Luisana a look of contempt that makes Lui angry and she charges. Not a good idea as she gets driven back by Shay’s jabbing to the face and breasts. Lui resorts to her own jab to try to hold Shay off to the bell. Round goes wide to Shay as she and Luisana exchange hostile looks.

R2: Shay and Luisiana quickly clash as the new round gets started. They are both moving well on the sand as they fire away at each other. Even back and forth to start, but then Luisana brings that right in over Shay’s high guard and strikes her hard between the eyes. Shay recoiling from this then gets clipped across the chin by a quick one-two combo and she is now stumbling backwards. Lui moves swiftly to herd Shay into the ropes. Shay not having time to clinch, just goes back in gloves as she huddles against the ropes while Luisana does a number on her exposed flank, especially smiting her hard in the ribs. Shay tries to slide along the ropes but Luisana not letting her prey escape swings away freely to the bell. Shay is still standing, but she looks shaken as she peels herself off the ropes. Luisana stands there, gloved hands on hips just letting Shay know who was boss this round. Shay ignores the pose as she heads for her corner. Lui then breaks into a happy smile and strolls off to her own corner.

R3: Shay making an effort to take back the momentum of the fight, but Luisana is continuing the pressure tactics she employed in the previous round. Shay quickly gets stuffed in her aching side ribs and then Lui goes after her torso will belly and jugg work. Shay managing the attack better this round, she is protect her jaw and trying to jab back. Luisana going again and again to the belly and she’s driving Shay up on her toes with each fresh impact. Finally Luisana able to get an overhand right that smacks Shay in the right eye. Shay retreating, but able to avoid getting trapped against ropes. Luisana pays some attention to Shay’s breasts and Shay is not looking happy. Then a hook to the belly late nearly drapes Shay over Luisana as she lunges in. Lui pushes Shay back just as the bell rings. Shay has her right arm across her stomach as Luisana gives her another triumphant look. This time Shay glares back letting Lui show she’s far from finished. Huffy pivot away from each other as they march to their corners, but both sneak a quick look back at the other.

R4: Shay and trainer Dani Harris huddle during the break. Shay comes out with some new tactics. She employs some quick moves (not always easy to pull off on the sand) to draw Lui into off-balance traps. Luisana gets smashed hard to the jaw and chin. Shay then moves in to pound Lui to the body with special attention to hooking the belly. Luisana staggered by the offensive and slow to get her jab up. Shay working methodically to cut off the ring and drive the blonde onto the ropes. Late in the round, Luisana finds herself with her butt on the strands and covering up as Shay stands in front of her striking at her sides and midsection. Lui lunging forward to clinch, but Shay skipping back and banging rights and lefts off blonde head to the bell. Luisana looking bleary-eyed as she heads for her corner. Shay turns towards her own corner and waves at a grimly smiling Dani Harris.

R5: Luisana seems to shake off the pounding she suffered in R4 and goes hard at Shay this round. Shay driven back by the rush as Lui punches her to the face and then to the body. However Shay rallies and comes right back at the blonde. Intense firefight at close range ensues with breasts getting a lot of the punching effort. Then Luisana goes down to work Shay belly and these solid blows make Shay shudder and back up gasping for air. Lui follows aiming for the head, but Shay jabs back to Lui’s head and they battle toe to toe right down to the bell. In fact, referee has to jump in. Both fighters breathing hard and covered with sweat that glistens in the hot sun. They stare at each other until referee orders them to their corners. They keep looking back at each other all during their return walk and watch from their respective stools. Meanwhile judges add up the points and decide to give the round to Luisana by a narrow margin.

R6: Both fighters seem full of fired-up energy as they come out for this round. They are both moving smoothly on the sand and circling nicely as they punch away at long range. Then they charge in and fire away at the head before breaking off to circle. Then there is another rush forward and this time bellies, ribs and breasts get the leather pounding. Both seem to be putting their all into punches as the round ticks on. Then Shay goes back to her feinting tactics and gets Luisana to lunge into empty space as Shay brings a crashing right into the side of the blonde’s head. Luisana knocked off sideways into the ropes and grabs onto them to steady herself. Shay in pursuit, but Lui covers up as Shay starts punching. However time runs out on the round and Shay steps back at the sound of the bell. Luisana takes a few moments before she leaves the strands and walks unsteadily to her corner. Shay watching closely during break.

R7: Luisana making a great effort to pull herself together behind a defensive jab. Jabbing touching Shay up to face and breasts, making her circle and look for opportunities. Luisana trying to keep up, but she’s looking sluggish and the jab grows less and less effective in keeping the brunette back. Then Shay makes her move late, she goes first to the ribcage to sting Lui, then deep into the belly to shake up her high guard . Then Shay fires straight up the middle with rights and lefts that burst through Lui’s gloves and smack into her mouth and nose. Luisana reeling as blood spurts from nose and a cut lower lip. Then in comes rapid-fire uppercuts to the chin. Legs seem to fly out from under Luisana AND DOWN LUI GOES! Luisana lands on her butt, looks up at Shay, then topples over on her side. Shay trots to neutral corner as referee moves in. Luisana trying to push herself up off the stand, but her legs buckle leaving her on her side, holding herself up by one hand on the beach. She looks over at Shay and then hangs her head as the referee reaches: “…TEN! YOU ARE OUTTTT!!”

THE WINNER: SHAY MITCHELL DEFEATS LUISANA LOPILATO KO7

After: Luisana looking over at Shay with tears rolling down her cheeks. Shay rushes over and helps Luisana to her feet until the Vixens corner crew can arrive. They hug and Shay bursts into tears herself.

“I’m sorry we quarreled,” Shay says, “you are a tough fighter. I was lucky to beat you.”

“I’m sorry, too, No wonder you were a champion. You took my best stuff and came back to beat me,” says Luisana.

They hug again and then Luisana is led away. Shay goes back to her own corner. Crowd applauds both fighters and seem quite pleased with the post-fight sportsmanship.
Close fight with plenty of back and forth action. The rookie Luisana Lopilato had her chances, but found Shay Mitchell too tough this afternoon. Good win for the veteran Shay and should set her back on course to one day regaining the Bantam belt.
