BEFORE:

"I've been in a bit of a slump lately," says Brenda with a shake of the head. "But, the one thing about slumps is, eventually they end. And, mine ends tonight."

"I'm not going to lie," says Jane with a nod. "It took me awhile to shake what happened last time. But. I HAVE shaken it, and I'm ready to take the next step. And, that involves beating Brenda."

ROUND ONE:

O'Dell: "Back at ringside and that's 'Hungarian Rhapsody #2' by Liszt, and here comes one half of the Bazz flyweight division, the lovely Brenda Song!"

Cassie: "Brenda's right about slumps ending, and, believe me, she's ready to end this one."

O'Dell: "Song into the ring and helped off with the robe. She's wearing that black bikini we've seen before, and she's clearly got the body you get from the ridiculously difficult training regimen enforced at Bazz..."

Cassie: "Oh, it's plenty tough. But, it pays off in the ring."

O'Dell: "And, that's 'Pleasant Nightmare' by Alih Jey you hear behind us, and that means 'The Marin County Marauder', Jane Levy, is on her way to the ring."

McCarthy: "Almost surprised to see this girl back here. Weirdo's flavor of the month, as everyone knows, and when she got herself upset right before he began sweeping out some of the trash, I was SURE she was gone."

Tess: "Jane definitely has added incentive tonight coming off that loss. As we've been talking about the last couple of months, she has less competition in the stable now, but there's still plenty. She's trying to take a step forward this year before she gets passed up by Ariel Winter, who's been charging hard ever since she got to Philly..."

McCarthy: "The only thing less talented than Weirdo's flyweight division might be...I can't think of a single thing!"

Tess: "Shocker!"

McCarthy: "SHUT UP, WALMART!"

O'Dell: "Drink up, boys as Jane is helped off with the robe to reveal that peach number we've seen before, and the ladies are about ready. Time for some picks. Tess favors Jane. Mac?"

McCarthy: "I hate to pick Scabbo's running buddy, but Weirdo's flyweights suck. Song."

O'Dell: "Cassie?"

Cassie: "You know I'm going with Brenda!"

O'Dell: "And, we're underway. Song has that unorthodox style, which can be tough to crack. She's all about timing and angles and boxing and creating problems. Levy, though, doesn't seem to be bothered by it. Instead, the former college soccer player wants to step to and get physical."

Tess: "This is actually a pretty good strategy against Brenda, because, she's not easy to box, that's for sure."

O'Dell: "Song holding her own at short range. She's slick and quick, hard to land good shots on because of her excellent defense and always looking to find openings in yours. Jane working a little body in there, levering Brenda with the shoulder. This is good stuff from the redhead, Mac..."

McCarthy: "Blind squirrel stuff. Again, Weirdo's flyweights suck."

O'Dell: "Final thirty seconds of round one. Good, two-way stuff with both girls scoring in spots and neither able to get rolling or get into a rhythm. Again, Levy levers Song with that shoulder, opens up the body, gets a couple of licks in. Brenda responds with a solid combination to the head and that's the bell. Close. Levy."

Cassie: "Good start for both fighters. Jane's up 10-9, but there's a long way to go."

ROUND TWO:

O'Dell: "Second underway and Levy right back in Song's grill. Jane's strategy pretty clear now. She's going to bring the physical against the slick veteran boxer, and, at the moment, it's working pretty well. Brenda getting backed up some now. Jane again levering with the shoulder, unbalancing Song, opening her up..."

McCarthy: "When is this BOUGHT AND PAID FOR ref going to do something about that?"

O'Dell: "Good right hook, Jane and that got Brenda's attention. Levy getting rolling now. First time in the fight either girl has been able to do that. Song not hurt, but she's getting touched pretty solidly at the moment, as Jane's finding spots for short hooks and uppercuts that are moving Brenda backward."

Cassie: "Brenda's OK. Just needs to get off square here."

O'Dell: "And, at the moment, she can't do it. Levy lining her up pretty well and bringing the heavy leather to the party. She backs the brunette up again with a solid flurry to the head. Song covering up down the stretch. Ten seconds to go. Jane digs body, goes back to the head, and there's the bell. Levy. And pretty comfortably, too."

Tess: "20-18 in Jane's favor, and her confidence has to be growing by the second."

ROUND THREE:

O'Dell: "Third sees a change in tactics from Brenda. More footwork now, dropping back and circling right, trying to create distance and angles. And, it's working early. She's getting leather on, keeping Levy at range, scoring points while she's got her out there. Jane not able to get to her spots now..."

Cassie: "And, that's changed everything. This is what makes Brenda so tough to fight. She's so slick and smart that she can make it very hard for you to do what you want to do."

O'Dell: "And, that's exactly what she's doing to Levy right now. Jane getting touched up to the head and face. Can't seem to find a way to solve the geometry Song's throwing at her right now. Brenda just calmly executing the plan, picking off Levy again and again, scoring points with both hands."

McCarthy: "It's amazing that, with someone as talented as Britney helping them, Weirdo's flys are still so sucky."

O'Dell: "Coming down the stretch in the third. It's Song who's in control of this thing. She's cruising now, in command, touching up the redhead again and again as Jane tries to get back to where she was last round, in tight where she can get physical. Not going to happen in the third. There's the bell. Song. Wide."

Tess: "And it's now 29-28 in Levy's favor."

ROUND FOUR:

O'Dell: "Fourth underway and Song continuing to flummox Levy. Jane can not square up the brunette and is having trouble getting off. Meanwhile, Song in complete rhythm, putting punches together, scoring with both hands, all while frustrating Levy with that slick defense of hers..."

Cassie: "This is vintage Brenda Song right here. She can wrong-foot an opponent all night long."

O'Dell: "And, that's what she's been doing to Levy in these last two rounds. Jane struggling to get anything done right now. Brenda another nice combination, forces Jane to cover up. Song slipping and dipping, moving the feet, head, and hands very well. Good right hand to the head there..."

Tess: "This is why Song's been in the top ten several times. She's just difficult to deal with in there. Unorthodox and very, very skilled."

O'Dell: "Coming down the stretch in the fourth, and Brenda in complete control now. Levy can't get much done at all. She's landing the odd counter, but that's it. Song just stumping her with the geometry now. Ten seconds to go. Good right hand, Brenda, and there's the bell. Song wide again."

McCarthy: "And, we're even at 38 as another of Weirdo's flyweights falls on her face."

ROUND FIVE:

O'Dell: "Fifth sees a bit of an adjustment from Levy. Jane now setting up behind her left jab and wants to work at range. Not much reach advantage here as both ladies are the same height, so Brenda's willing to play this game. And, I'm going to admit I'm surprised Levy wants to box with..."

McCarthy: "This is typical Front Street stuff. The corner's clueless. Their girl's getting touched up and they're getting desperate."

O'Dell: "Only, it's working. Jane's getting the left hand on, finding Song with it, and able to drop in rights as a result. Brenda, meanwhile, getting to her spots, too, and able to score in return. We're getting two way stuff now, for the first time in several rounds. Good right hand from Jane and a nice right-hand counter from Brenda..."

Tess: "This is actually a nice adjustment from Levy. Getting away from trying to close has allowed her to get square more often."

O'Dell: "Has, indeed. So, adjustment from Song allowed her to take control of the fight and now a counter-adjustment from Jane has her back in it. Just fifteen seconds to go in what's been a competitive fifth. Both ladies popping that jab and dropping rights behind right to the bell. Close. Jane."

Cassie: "And, Levy's back up 48-47."

ROUND SIX:

O'Dell: "Right back to range to start the sixth. Levy all about that left jab right now. She's double-tapping it, using it to locate, then bringing the right hand to bear. Brenda slippin' and dippin', angling, getting her own offense going. This is more good, two-way stuff as both fighters are now on terms they like."

Cassie: "But, let's keep in mind who dictated this, and that's Brenda. She frustrated Levy's fight plan and has forced her to fight on Brenda's terms."

O'Dell: "That she has, Cassie. Good news for Jane is, she's doing it pretty well. Might not be exactly what she wants, but she's making a fight of it. We're about two minutes into the sixth, and things are again nip and tuck. GOOD RIGHT HAND, SONG! Brenda caught Jane and wobbled her and DOWN GOES LEVY!"

McCarthy: "Great follow on that right hand from Song! It was a short left hook that put Levy on her back!"

O'Dell: "Was, indeed, Mac. Brenda quickly to a neutral corner. Referee's count at three. Four. Five. Six. Jane rolls to her hands and knees. Seven. Eight. Levy to her feet. Referee going to give her the mandatory and waive Brenda forward. Song now all in on Levy, banging away with both hands. Jane backed to the ropes and taking in the tight earmuff. Twenty seconds to go in the round. All about survival now for the redhead. Brenda digging body, then back to the head, looking for the 'off' switch, but not going to find it. There's the bell. Jane still on her feet, but a huge round for Song."

Tess: "And, Brenda's got the lead 57-56 with four to go."

ROUND SEVEN:

O'Dell: "Seventh begins with Song looking to push the action now. She's after a still-buzzed Levy looking to finish this thing. Brenda measured in her approach, very sound, but also very aggressive. She's getting solid shot on with both hands while Jane is reduced to the odd counter."

McCarthy: "You know, this is how Spears went out the door at Front Street. Lost a fight she shouldn't have, got booked against a girl much her better the next time and lost that, and she was gone..."

Tess: "That's not exactly how it went down, but, either way, it worked out for Jamie Lynn, since she's now your BOSS..."

McCarthy: "She is NOT my BOSS!"

Cassie: "Yes, she is, and so is UNCLE WIZ..."

McCarthy: "HE. IS. NOT!"

O'Dell (sighing): "Half way through the seventh, and Song in control here. She's piled up a nice lead, even if she hasn't been able to finish the redhead. Jane still fighting defensively, countering here and there, but keeping the guard high and giving ground and DROPPING SONG WITH A RIGHT HAND!"

Tess: "What a counter!"

O'Dell: "A perfectly-placed right and Brenda dropped to a sitting position! Levy quickly to a neutral corner. Count at three. Four. Five. Six. Brenda to her feet at seven and clearly not happy. Referee's going to give her the mandatory and ON COMES JANE! Levy going all in, backing up the brunette with a flurry of heavy leather. Song to the ropes with ten seconds to go, and she'll run out the round. But, Levy steals points late with that right hand..."

Cassie: "And, she's now up 66-65 with three left."

ROUND EIGHT:

O'Dell: "In a complete 180, it's now Levy pressing the action as we start the eighth. Redhead getting physical again and it's working with Song still unsure of the legs after that knockdown in the last round. Jane squaring up Brenda, backing her up, making her take a lot of leather right now..."

Cassie: "Brenda will be fine as soon as those legs start working. Then, she can start angling again."

O'Dell: "But, until then, Jane's going to bring the power to bear. She's right in Brenda's grill, thumping some body, going up to the head, then back to the body. Song tying up, trying to slow Levy down, but Jane shoves off, hooks the body and HURTS BRENDA WITH A RIGHT UPPIE!"

Tess: "Song nearly went down!"

O'Dell: "And Levy now WINGING AWAY AND DOWN GOES BRENDA! Oh, Jane caught her with a right hand and Song spilled to her back! Levy quickly to a neutral corner again. Count at three. Four. Five. Six. Song rolling to her belly. Seven. Eight. Nine. TEN! It's OVER! Brenda can't get off her belly and your winner by KO8 is 'The Marin County Marauder', Jane Levy!"

McCarthy: "Lucky punch!"

AFTER:

O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"

Tess: "I have our winner, Jane Levy, and Jane, that was some kind of fight..."

Jane (smiling and shaking her head): "Yeah it was. She's something in there. Really hard to deal with. Very slick. Very smart. Caused me all kinds of problems."

Tess: "Looked like she might have you there for awhile."

Jane (nodding): "Yeah, she was a tough nut to crack, that's for sure, but, eventually, I cracked her."

Tess: "Huge win for you?"

Jane (nodding): "Biggest of my career so far. She's a contender. Beating a girl like that? Well, it's a step up for me, no doubt about that."
