Kate Upton vs. Robyn Lawley (Unified Welterweight Championship)

BEFORE:

Two of the FCBA's biggest hitters featured in this one, and there's no mystery about where all this is leading. "Look," says Robyn, "It comes down to this. Kate's all about being big and strong and sturdy in there. But, I'm bigger, stronger, and sturdier than she is. There's only one way this can end. With her slobbering on the mat at my feet."

"Oh, somebody's going to be slobbering on the mat, that's for sure," says a hard-eyed Upton. "Only, it's not going to be me."

ROUND ONE:

Lawley gets physical early. Instead of using her reach advantage to fire shell at gunnery range, she steps to, begins shoving the blonde, wrestling with her inside. Good strategy, because, as big and sturdy as Kate is, Robyn is 6'2" and over 160 pounds. Even Upton isn't going to be able to win this kind of contest with the Aussie brunette. Of course, it ISN'T this kind of contest, it's a boxing match, and, after about a minute of getting shoved around, Kate reminds Robyn of that with a short right hand that unlocks Lawley's knees! Robyn stumbles and nearly goes down, and, as Upton goes all in, it's cold comfort to Lawley that 95 percent of the welters in the FCBA would have been left prone on the canvas by that shot. Especially since THOSE girls would have been spared the beating Robyn takes for the remainder of the first, a thorough hammering that sees Upton work both head and body in search of a finisher. She doesn't find that, but she does claim the first wide and grab the early 10-9 lead.

ROUND TWO:

Upton back to work, pushing pace on the Aussie. Robyn still looking like not having the legs all the way back, so Kate takes advantage. But, when you can hit like Robyn Lawley, you don't need ALL your legs to be dangerous. BOOM! The Aussie lands a straight right and now UPTON IS HURT! Kate immediately covers up and now it's the brunette who's all in looking to finish. Blonde battered right back into the ropes as Robyn trains the heavy artillery on the busty blonde and sends shell after shell screaming at her. Kate shaken again and again by heavy leather as the referee looks on. Lawley eventually looks to bring the guard down and begins tenderizing that awesome body of Upton's. Kate ships the shell, keeps the guard high, stays afloat. Final seconds of the round sees Robyn land yet ANOTHER big right hand. Upton wobbles and nearly goes down. Referee seems ready to step in, but, the bell rings before he can do so. It's Lawley wide in the second, and we're even at 19, but there's no question who's now in control of the fight.

ROUND THREE:

Champ not quite a wreck, but there are definitely dents and dings after that last round, and Lawley quickly sets about adding to their number. She's after Kate from the get-go, firing bombs at the still-buzzed blonde. Upton's trying to hold ground, but can't do it, trying to slow the brunette down, but can't do that, either. And, a minute in, things get worse. A straight right from Lawley and it's BLONDE GIRL DOWN! Kate blown to her back and left lying in the middle of the ring as Robyn bounces to a neutral corner ten seconds from the title. Count begins to mount on the champion, but, somehow, Kate The Great is on her feet at nine. Referee gives her the mandatory and, after a second's hesitation, waives on Robyn. Big Aussie determined to finish now. She's winging away at the blonde, throwing everything she has at her. BOOM. DOWN GOES...ROBYN??? It's a keyhole counter from the blonde that shocks the brunette as much as hurts her and drops her to a sitting position. Now, it's Kate to a neutral corner and Lawley watching the count. Aussie shakes it off and is on her feet at six. Again, a mandatory and the referee waives on Kate for the final seconds of the round. No time for an Upton clean up, nor is Robyn buzzed enough to allow one. Each fighter manages a few solid shots before the bell, and, when it comes, the double knockdowns result in an even round on the cards, not like it appears those are going to matter, and it's now 29-29.

ROUND FOUR:

Lawley right to work to start the fourth. Aussie quickly shows she's in the better shape of the two. She's using the long left jab to control Kate, then following on with those heavy right hands to walk her down. Champion definitely coming out second-best here. She's giving up much more reach than she ever has before and dealing with as much power as has ever been arrayed against her. As we've seen before, when Lawley gets everything moving forward, it's almost impossible to stop, and, what we're now finding out is that even Kate Upton isn't capable of stopping it. The champ is game, but she takes a pounding. For three straight minutes, it's all the brunette. Upton's firing back in spots, but off her back foot. It's Robyn doing the damage, adding to the dings and dents, wearing down the blonde, and beating her up. At the bell, the Aussie's pitched a shutout and takes a 39-38 lead.

ROUND FIVE:

Lawley forward again. She's found the terms that work for her and she's going to keep working them until all blonde resistance collapses. BOOM! About thirty seconds in, Kate slips a left jab, takes a quick step forward and LAUNCHES a right hand and LAWLEY'S HURT! The big right catches the brunette right on the chin and sends her staggering backward. Somehow, she stays on her feet, but Kate's determined to remedy that. Blonde all OVER Robyn immediately, banging away with everything in the arsenal, driving the brunette into the ropes and savaging her with salvo after salvo to both face and body. Upton's clearly expecting a total collapse, but it doesn't come. Robyn just too strong and sturdy to go despite an absolute mauling along the ropes. At the bell, brunette is still standing. Upton's claimed the round via shutout, though, and we're even at 48.

ROUND SIX:

Upton determined to end this thing. She's right after Lawley, coming forward hard, taking solid counter shot from the Aussie to do so. Brunette obviously doesn't have all of her leg under her, but she's got enough to land some solid punches on the advancing champion. Those, however, do nothing to slow her. Instead, Upton slowly, inexorably, forces Lawley back, despite the brunette's attempts to hold canvas. For nearly a minute, the effort to impose will by champion on challenger proceeds in this manner. And, then it comes to an end with two punches, the first a solid left jab and the second a scintillating follow on right that BLOWS ROBYN TO HER BACK! Lawley poleaxed, crashing to the canvas and actually bouncing once before coming to rest. Upton raises the hands in victory, before stalking to a neutral corner. Ref begins the count, but Lawley's not moving at all. Challenger is both down and out, and remains so long after the count reaches ten. It's OVER! And you're winner by KO6 and STILL Unified Welterweight Champion is Kate Upton!

AFTER:

Fair to wonder how many more wars like this even a body like Upton's can go through before attrition begins, but, for now, Kate's managed to dig deep yet again and put away another brutally hard-hitting opponent in her efforts to become master of the welterweight division. She's puffed and her chest is still heaving in the post-fight, but the lovely smile is in place. "Like I said," the blonde beauty says with a nod. "Somebody was going to end up slobbering on the mat, and it wasn't going to be me."
