ROBYN LAWLEY VS MANDY MOORE

Results: Lookout Writing: Archer

Robyn: 28 YO, 6’2 (1.87 m), 9-1-0, 9 KO since 2014, Punchaholics Anonymous
Mandy: 33 YO, 5’10 (1.78 m), 27-33-0, 18 KO since 200, Foxfire Boxing

Before: “I really feel ready to take on Mandy,” says plus-size Australian model Robyn, “I have proved I can handle veteran welters like Estella Warren and Gena Lee Nolin, but Mandy’s a former Welter champion and she makes up in ring smarts what she lacks in size. This is going to be a real test, but I am confident I can punch my way to winning. I have had a lot of success with a steady attack and I think that will win this fight for me, too.”

Mandy Moore has been eyeing the bigger Robyn and says readily: “She’s definitely got a size and reach advantage. But there is more to boing than just being the bigger fighter. She’s right to say I’ve got ‘ring smarts’. I like to think I do and I came by them the hard way. Robyn has a lot of raw talent, she wouldn’t be 9-1 if she didn’t, but I think I have what it takes to beat her. I hope you will pay attention, Robyn, this can be a very educational fight for you.”

“I imagine it could be, but I would prefer to be the one doing the teaching,” Robyn says. “Even a veteran can still learn some new lessons.”

“Very true. Let’s see who is the educator and who is the educated when this is over,” Mandy says.

“Let’s,” says Robyn with a determined look.

Fight night finds Robyn in gray bikini with matching gloves and boots (black laces). Her brunette hair is in a ponytail with a gray ribbon. Mandy is in royal blue one piece with matching gloves and boots (light blue laces). Royal blue ribbon secures her hair in a ponytail. Robyn standing close to Mandy to make sure her taller, bigger body looks superior to Mandy’s. Mandy just smiles as if amused at this tactic and looks back at the impressive Aussie with confident eyes. Referee gets their attention and proceeds through the ring instructions. Quick tap of the gloves and the pair go their separate corners. Tense pause. The bell rings.

R1: Robyn moving quickly to attack the more deliberate Mandy. Robyn striking first with hooks to the body and sides. Mandy jabbing back, seems to be studying Robyn, but she’s taking early hard leather in the process. Then Mandy stuns Robyn with a smashing right to the jaw and crunching left to the chin. Robyn falling back with a foggy look in her eyes, Mandy unleashing hard hooks to Robyn’s plush midsection and stinging her big breasts with uppercuts into the underside of her bikini top. Robyn sluggish to get her defenses up and she takes a lot of punching to the body in the process. Robyn eventually stabilizes behind her jab and seems to be shaking off the shock of Mandy’s earlier jaw busters. Mandy now blocked from renewed head attack, but settles down to working the body as the round ends. Mandy wins round wide, but Robyn looks more annoyed than hurt as they go to their corners.

R2: Mandy more aggressive this round, trying to keep the pressure on with shots to the head, Robyn seems to be able to duck or blunt these punches. Robyn striking back with the jab, working over Mandy’s chest and then hooking her in the belly. Mandy’s attack slowed down by these jabs and Robyn shifts gears as she advances with rapid series of hooks to the body. Mandy hunching up from these impacts, letting her guard drop and BOOM! Robyn catches Mandy under the chin with a beautiful right uppercut. Mandy jerked off her feet and flung into the ropes behind her. Then Mandy’s legs give out and falls into a heap on her side. Robyn looking quite pleased as she goes to neutral corner. Referee moving in as Mandy is groping for the ropes and tries to pull herself up as the count begins. Mandy able to make it up by “NINE!” and the fight resumes, However Mandy Moore seems to have quite enough of Robyn Lawley this round and backs away with her body all hunched up and gloves at her face. Robyn blocked but she’s smiling at the bell because she knows she’s won it wide sand put the veteran on the canvas.

R3: Robyn quick to attack as the round begins and Mandy sluggish off her stool. Mandy hunching up and keeping her gloves up around her face. Robyn tries to just bang her way through Mandy’s defenses, but then gets her face struck hard by Mandy’s jab, Robyn not backing down and does have some success in getting her punches into Mandy’s body. Then Mandy counters to the chin and Robyn falls back as the tremor of the impact goes through her big body. Robyn recovering quickly and finally gets two quick left-right combos into Mandy’s head. Mandy now the one falling back, but manages to hold Robyn off with the jab to the head and breasts. Mandy able to make this round much closer, but Robyn still able to pull out a narrow win.

R4: Mandy and Robyn both showing aggression as this round gets going. They move rapidly on each other and commence a bruising exchange to the body. Mandy moving around more smoothly than Robyn and she is soon popping Robyn to the side of the head. Robyn trying to get at the evasive Mandy, but can’t seem to manage it and she’s taking punch after punch to the head and face from the always-moving Mandy. The head shots seem to catch up with Robyn late as her attacks stall out and she shifts to protecting her head, Mandy helps herself to pounding Robyn’s belly meat and adds a series of jugg bangers to finish up. Round wide to Mandy. Robyn looking a bit groggy as she heads back for her stool.

R5: Mandy clearly interested in picking up where she left off as she begins by circling around Robyn and firing away, looking for just the right opening. She can’t seem to find what she’s looking for and then Robyn strikes back. Mandy clouted hard to the side of the head and staggers away on shaking legs, Robyn scrambling to cut off her and Mandy trying to back away. Robyn closing in again, but is blocked up high by Mandy’s guard. Robyn lashes at Mandy’s belly and blazes away at the Foxfire welter’s chest. Mandy shuddering under these beefy impacts, but then manages to back away. Robyn in pursuit, trying to back Mandy into the ropes, but Mandy using jab to keep Robyn back with solid shots to the mouth, nose and eyes. Robyn keeps coming and forces Mandy back, but she is unable to get her on the ropes by the bell. Mandy looks relieved at the bell and she’s slow walking back to her corner. Robyn books this round to her side of the cards with a wide win.

R6: Mandy pulls herself together during the break and comes out fast to start the round. She moves with more speed than Robyn seemed to be expecting. Mandy able rock the Australian with a lunging right to the jaw and then pull away before Robyn can counter. Mandy keeps up this attack to the jaw and soon has Robyn on the defensive trying to protect her head, Mandy goes back to the body and she is really putting the extra power into those stomach hooks by setting her feet and driving her gloves in deep. Robyn’s legs showing some quiver as this goes on, Robyn able to do some counterpunching mainly to the body to force Mandy to slow her attack. Mandy able to take the blows and keep up the pressure to win the round wide.

R7: Robyn not giving up as she comes off her stool with determination to take Mandy Moore down. However Mandy again proving elusive and strikes at the head as Robyn lunges at her, Robyn’s face already cut and swollen from Mandy’s punching, but now bleeding is getting worse as Mandy’s accurate shots are really doing damage. Robyn slowing down and trying to guard her battered face, but Mandy then goes back to the belly with those relentless hooks. Robyn begins to freeze and then tremble with each new belly buster. Mandy then drops down and brings a right uppercut from down around her ankles sizzling upward behind Robyn’s sagging gloves and into the big woman’s chin. Robyn’s head snaps back AND LIGHTS GO OUT FOR ROBYN LAWLEY! Robyn collapses forward as Mandy jumps clear and Robyn thunders onto the canvas with an impact that makes the ring shake. Mandy looks down in amazement as Robyn is sprawled out on her face, arms and legs spread, tremors going through her body. Referee pushes Mandy towards neutral corner and starts to count. Crowd is amazed to see Robyn stirring and actually trying to push herself up, but it’s no good. As the count reaches : “NINE!” Robyn rolls onto her side, but that is it: “TEN!...YOU ARE OUT!”
The Winner: Mandy Moore Defeats Robyn Lawley KO7.

After: “I knew she would be tough,” a weary, but triumphant Mandy Moore tells the press in the post-fight, “but she took so much of my best punching that I was getting worried. Luckily, she is one of those fighters who just likes to keep coming at you and I finally was able to wear her down. Oh, there’s no doubt of her punching power. I am going to aching for days. She’s got a lot of talent and our division needs fighters like Robyn Lawley. If she learns from this fight we other welters better look out—she could be big trouble for us.”

“It was very disappointing,” Robyn Lawley tells the press when she’s recovered from the effects of the knockout. “Mandy just didn’t look that tough and I was sure I could beat her down, but she was just so darn hard to corner—and she could hit harder than I was expecting. If that’s what she meant by ‘educating’ me—I have learned a thing or two. I don’t know if I would change my basic approach—I am who I am as a fighter. I go for my girl and that’s what I am most comfortable doing, I am not sure if I really want to change that. It might just create more problems than it solves.”

Rousing welterweight battle should give heart to fans of the division. Mandy Moore was able to take Robyn Lawley down, but Robyn showed she’s got plenty to offer in the ring. Maybe all she needs is more experience and her potential will lead her up the welter ladder. Meanwhile, Mandy Moore showed she’s still a factor in this division and maybe this is the start of a fresh title run
