Blake Lively vs Kira Kosarin (result: Lookout/fight: simgrrl)
Lively (30yo; 5'10”; 125#) vs
Kosarin (19yo; 5'6”; 117#)

Before: Blake Lively coming off a week long celebration marking the end of her 3rd decade, in an easy fight against rookie Kira Kosarin who's winless this year. The only “blemish” on Kira's otherwise “perfect record” was her debut bout in which she “unaccountably” was able to batter hapless Sasha Pieterse into submission, then arrogantly boasted and preened postfight. Thankfully, the FCBA has been spared her cocky attitude because her next two appearances saw the brash rookie crashing back to earth (literally) being KO'd by both Ashley Greene and Chloe Bennett.

Tonight, Kira's stepping up in class in so many ways: facing her first true lightweight in Lively, as well as the first woman who is not only heavier, but also taller. “Lively is literally a tall order,” the somewhat humbled Kosarin admits in a rare moment of unguarded candor; a refreshing departure from her usual braggadocio, bellicosity, and prefight posturing.

Kosarin blushing when a reporter reminds her of a quote before her first fight, that “...girls will literally be shocked by my stamina, devastated by my right hand power” asking pointedly, “where's that been hiding... since it wasn't evident in any of your losses.”

For once Kira is at a loss for words and has to be saved by Bonzo's assistant trainer, Nadia Bjorlin, who stepped in to ask the reporter if she'd prefer to rephrase her question, or “step outside.” The reporter, a tall, well-constructed, blonde from a well-known farm equipment magazine, wisely chose to rephrase her question, “So, how'd you like last week's 'Game of Throne's'?” Kira said she'd “quite enjoyed it” then asked if there were any other 'hard hitting' questions.

Lively coming off her first win after five straight losses - the second longest losing skein of her career (0-8 from 10/2011 to 5/2013). “This one was much harder,” Blake admitted. “That streak cost me my job when Jeri Ryan fired me (from Jeri's Knockouts). But it was a blessing in the long run. I got picked up by another stable, resurrected my career, and went on to bigger, and better, things. This streak was just a bump in the road. I'm established in my stable, I've got great support (her trainer is Jeri Ryan, who dumped her in 2013) and I just had a week long birthday party to celebrate still being just the FOURTH OLDEST woman in my stable (after Ryan, Theron, and Lohan; ahead of Pelas and Lawrence).”

When pressed about the “reason” she lost five straight - before she “finally” beat Rafaeli on the beach last time - Blake answered cautiously. “First, I fought some pretty tough women. Arterton was the lightweight champ; Ferguson and Bella Thorne were both tough customer and rising stars. The Lima fight...” Blake paused to collect herself, “...that was one of those 'body paint' gimmick things. I was never really comfortable. I mean, I was basically nude with just a layer of paint covering - you know - the naughty parts. It was hot and I was perspiring. I was so damm nervous I couldn't think about anything but how embarrassed my family would be if 'something' happened. Thankfully, it didn't, but it was on my mind the whole time.”

Pressed about the Winstead fight, Blake sighed. “She held a grudge for years and it all came out in that fight. Mentally, I wasn't in a very good place and she more or less, handed me my head. I'm not making excuses and I'm not bitter. It's a thing that happens every so often in the FCBA; someone goes a little too far in the excitement of a big win and somebody else takes it as an insult and wants payback. That was Winnie's payback. It's over and done as far as I'm concerned. I'm back on track and the only one I'm thinking about now is....what's her name? Kosarian?”

Blake in her favorite green beach bikini, long blond hair in a French braid; green gloves match her bikini; bare feet for better footing in the beach sand. Kosarin wearing a white bikini top, red thong with white accents; white gloves; dark hair in a tight bun. Like Lively, Kira's barefoot in the sandy ring.
* * * *
During R1: Young and supple Kosarin springing off her stool, flying across the ring and leaping in the air, slamming a 'Supergirl' flying overhand right into a startled Lively's face! Blake recoiling backward into her own corner, back hitting the turnbuckles with a head snapping, knee-buckling, impact! Kira swarming the taller, older, more experienced blonde, pounding away to the body with both hands as Lively's handlers screaming, “GET OFF THE ROPES!” But Blake's trapped by Kosarin's slim hipped body as she leans on the older blonde as she works Blake like a heavy bag in her corner; just thumping away; her fists moving so fast her white leather gloves are a blur.
Lively suffering the first minute, rides out the opening salvo from Kira and manages to fight her way off the ropes. Once she had gotten into the open, Lively's long legs and experience enabled her to fight on even terms with the eager young rookie, although Kira was the one pressing the action. She kept Blake off balance the entire round and whenever it appeared Lively was about to get something going, Kosarin seemed to find some way to land a hard punch, or trip Lively, or drive her shoulder into Blake's chest to knock her backward. It may not have been all according to the rules of the Marquis of Queensbury, but it DID allow Kira Kosarin to keep the momentum for the entire round. Not until the closing seconds was Blake Lively finally able to land two consecutive hard punches, but then the bell rang before she could take advantage of even whatever small edge that may have won for her and Kira Kosarin easily took the first round by a shutout!

R2: Lively, after a stern dressing down in her corner, fighting a far different fight in the second as she's up off her stool before the bell, quickly stepping out and circling to avoid being trapped the way Kira ambushed her in the first. Kira again attacking furiously, but Lively, using her feet, is able to keep her distance behind her strong jab, time and again snapping Kira's head back as the young brunette rushed wildly in to attack, only to be repulsed time and again as Lively doubled up on the jab, or threw quick, short, combinations that buckled Kosarin's legs.
Midway in the round, Blake with a steady rhythmic, pop-pop-pop of her jab in Kira's face, then dropped the right hand over Kira's shoulder to rock her, or brought it up the middle from her thigh to hammer Kosarin with uppercuts every time the young fighter exposed her jutting jaw in her eagerness to get at Lively - who fought with a determination sorely lacking in most of her recent fights!
Lively, once she gets on a roll, is a beautiful sight to behold as the fans saw in the closing moments of this second round. Her combinations were delivered with precision, every punch seemed to land right on target; her footwork was flawless and her smile was about perfect as she turned and walked back to her corner after the bell. Blake won the round on points (wide)

R3: Role reversal! This time, it was Kosarin's corner giving her 'what for'; Kira sat red-faced for much of the break, getting a stern lecture about not taking her opponent for granted. “One good round don't mean diddly in this game,” she heard. “You think those old broads came out here to make kids like YOU look good? Hello girl! Wake up and smell the old cafe ole'! It's war, and right now you're getting your bony ass pushed all 'round this beach by that blonde bimbo!”
Anyone not watching closely would've sworn the two swapped places during the break because this round mirrored the previous one with Kosarin coming out all fired up, looking like a different fighter; her stance was more upright, her footwork was crisp and well coordinated, her left hand was piston-like in it's sharpness, her right - when she threw it - was straight and strong, landing with thumping impact on the left side of Lively's head. It was as if Kira had suddenly remembered all the things she'd been taught in training, but had forgotten after the first round!
Blake, on the other hand, reverted to the same disorganized and sluggish fighter she'd shown the world during her losing streak. The difference was like night-day with Kosarin's brilliance only casting more 'shade' on Lively's dulsatory and mechanical effort. At one point, Jeri Ryan at ringside was heard literally pleading with Blake to “wake up” and later yelling at her “hit her for God's sake!” But it seemed that nothing Ryan said got thru to Lively who coasted thru the round without doing much anything of note offensively.... and little defensively for that matter. It wasn't surprising when, at the end of the round, Kosarin was dancing around with her arms in the air because while she hadn't put Lively down, she'd dominated the entire round and the judges agreed, giving Kira the round on points (wide!)

R4: Say what you want about Blake Lively's ability...but there's no doubting her 'pride' because after looking like some kind of 'newbie' the previous round... and getting her butt reamed by Ryan during the break... Blake came out blazing hot to start the fourth! Give Kira 'Kozy' Kosarian props, she fought just as hard to start the round as she had the previous round, but Blake is a veteran and when an experienced fighter sets her mind on something, it's hard for a rookie to stand up to her!
Blake firing on all cylinders this round, rocking Kira with a smart left hook to open the action, then buckling her knees with a follow-on right hand that sent 'Kurvy Kira' stutter-stepping back to the ropes in the opening minute! Kosarin digging down deep, came off the ropes to land a couple of hard body shots, but as she opened up, Kira exposed herself and Lively took advantage of the opening she left.
Blake caught Kira with a left hook high on the head, then as the young brunette reeled hurt, Lively dropped a high, hard, right in over Kosarin's shoulder. The big punch sent Kira over onto her back, her head hitting the bottom rope and whip lashing her as her head snapped forward!
As Lively preened for the crowd, Kosarin rolled and writhed on the sandy ring surface trying to get her addled brain to function. Even as she dragged herself to her knees, then as the count neared 'ten' to her feet, she swayed and wobbled....forcing the referee to give her eyes a close inspection and even to ask her if she knew where she was. Kosarin looked out at the surf and muttered, “Maliboo Barbie” which was - apparently - good enough!
Kosarin quickly clinched with Blake, wrestling her to the ropes and grabbing them; hanging on for her life. Lively pounded Kira's lats and flanks, even threw in a knee to the thigh when the referee's view was blocked, but nothing she did was enough and Kosarin managed to (barely) survive as Blake Lively's knockdown in minute two was more than enough to win her the round (wide).

R5: Fifth round opened just as the fourth closed, with Blake Lively on the attack, buffeting Kira Kosarin from foot to foot; beating her along the ropes from corner to corner. But as the round continued, Kira began to fight back, at first stubbornly, then later in the round, more aggressively! The first minute or so was all Lively, but then Kira Kosarin began to even the exchanges and by the end of the second minute, they were fighting 'back and forth' as they had in the first two rounds. By the end of the second minute, Kosarin had once more regained her footing and was holding her own against the more mature, and experienced, Lively. The final 30 or 40 seconds of the round were decisively “all Kosarin” as she once again managed to hurt Lively with right hands, then pummeled her along the ropes and into Blake's own corner as the round wound down to a conclusion. In what could be a 'turning point' in this fight, Kira Kosarin wins round five on points (close).

R6: As so often happened in this fight, Lively came storming back after a good Kosarin round to put up one of her own! Kira out looking to solidify her hold on the lead, only for Blake to land two...then a third... hard right early in the round to turn the tables to steal the initiative from Kosarin and regain the upper hand, ending the first minute on a roll. In the middle minute, Lively continued to dominate the young brunette with combinations and right uppercuts! Each time it seemed Kosarin was building momentum, Lively would land a three or four punch combination that left the youngster reeling, unable to regain her lost momentum. Down the stretch, Blake Lively was in control and commanding the fight with Kosarin unable to impose her will on the more mature, taller and more experienced blonde. Then, late in the round, Kosarin rose up out of a low crouch and CRACKED Lively in the side of the face with a snapping, sharp, right hook! Blake's knees buckled and she had to grab the top rope to stay on her feet.
Seeing Lively in distress, Kosarin threw caution to the wind and attacked with both hands! Left, right, left, right.... Kira punched without regard for her own defense; with single-minded concentration on her own offensive output. Time and again, Lively was rocked by hard right hands from Kira Kosarin but she was still unable to put Lively down... until the closing seconds when a left hook-right cross combination finally short-circuited Blake Lively's long, lithe, lovely, legs and dropped her on her ass in the sand with seconds left in the round.
Kira stood over Blake as if daring her to get up, and the referee had his hands full trying to wrestle her away and get her to a neutral corner. By the time order was restored, the bell had run ending the round; one which was scored - despite her late problems - for Blake Lively who won the round (very close!!) Obviously, it's still anyone's fight after six with each woman having won three rounds!

R7: Kira scores a knockdown in minute one and Blake doesn't get up.
Lively's corner working frantically to bring her back to her senses in the aftermath of the late round knockdown, and by the bell she appears to be - if not completely herself, at least able to defend herself - which is the ruling of the referee after checking her out. Blake edging forward cautiously behind her pawing left, ducking, bobbing, and weaving her upper body as she keeps her right at her chin, her left slapping Kira's jab aside as she tentatively pushes it out.
Neither looking particularly adventurous, each knowing one mistake could end the fight. Blake pops Kira in the face with her left, then again. Kosarin backs up, waving her left in front of Lively like a bullfighter's cape. Lively moving in behind a dulsatory jab, holding her right in reserve as she waits for an opening.
Kosarin ducking and bobbing, her left floating out there in front of her, but she's not pushing it out, just waving it back and forth, left to right. Lively emboldened, snapping her jab better now, stepping in behind it, pressuring the youngster; using her length to reach out to Kosar...
DOWN GOES LIVELY! Blake extends on her jab and Kira flashes her right in over Lively's left, hitting her square on the jaw. Blake Lively goes flying over backward, landing on her butt in the soft sandy ring; the back of her green bikini scooping up sand as she skids to a stop, her head snapping back, hitting the hard, compacted sand. Blake's not getting up....and Kira Kosarin is your winner with a stunning KO7 upset victory!

After: “The name's KOSARIN! KIRA KOSARIN! Say my name, b*tch! Say it!” Kira demanded as she towered above Lively's limp body. “WHAT'S MY NAME?” The referee had his hands full trying to drag her away as Kira kept kicking sand on Lively, demanding she give her “respect” but Lively was in no condition to give the young brunette anything; not the time of day or even the day of the week... not for quite some time... because Blake Lively was O-U-T!

“I showed her didn't I?” Kosarin asked the press. “Big old blowzy blonde bimbo never met a girl with MY POWER before,” she boasted, clearly excited in the aftermath of her first victory. “Lightweights, welterweights, they're all the same to me. Just line 'em up and I'll walk right thru 'em! Nobody can touch me.... I'm the next great thing in celebrity boxing,” she crowed, so full of herself there wasn't any room for hubris. (Perhaps that will come later...)
