Ashley Benson vs Cheryl Cole
(Pretty Little Punchers, Inc. vs Lioness Club)
(18-18, 18 KO vs 17-3, 17 KO)
Results: Lookout!; Story: Vassago

BEFORE: Ashley Benson is widely regarded as the best flyweight on the Pretty Little Punchers roster not named Lucy Hale and the Lioness Club entourage always targets her as an elite scalp which Jessica Lowndes has claimed on a couple of occasions already. However now it's the turn of Cheryl Cole to perform the magic even though she's scheduled to challenge for the unified flyweight title later this month! Why bother with Benson then? Well, the Lioness front office believes she is a carbon copy of Megan Fox - only with different hair color - and the notorious Geordie singer could only profit from this extra ring action tonight.

Besides, she works an extremely busy schedule already and hasn't had two consecutive months off ever since she switched full-time to the FCBA market. Cheryl keeps defying the odds and she hasn't forgotten that Lucy Hale denied her the first crack at the flyweight title when she knocked her in the official eliminator in April of last year. This one is personal and all the folks back in Newcastle know exactly what that means! It's time for the PLP crew to find out about it as well!

Ashley Benson wears a light blue one-piece swimsuit with white trim and white gloves. Long blonde hair in loose waves. Cheryl Cole wears a black & white vertically striped one-piece swimsuit (the home colors of Newcastle United association football club) and blue gloves. Long dark brown hair tied in a curled ponytail. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the flyweight division.

Round 1:
Ashley channels her bantamweight experience and longer reach to dominate the singer early on; while Cheryl is no stranger to attacking her opponents from the word go, she eats a heavy series upstairs seconds into this bout and has to back off from immediate close range pressure. Ashley keeps ripping crisp shots up the middle and forces the Geordie woman into repeated defensive circles. Most of these singers profit from numerous video clip dancing routines to stay on top of the bendy escape tactics but Benson's longer reach causes the English tourist more trouble than usual; the blonde cracks a solid left/right combo in the closing seconds but misses the follow up on the temple and fails to trap the brunette on the ropes. PLP manager Danielle Harris still looks pleased with that opener from her protegee and one can assume she expected Cole to blast out of the gate instead.

Round 2:
More of the same in the second, Cheryl stays back in mid-range and awaits the blonde's charge however Ashley doesn't really have to push the envelope to land the single-hand jabbing series. While there's a lack of power supply behind them, the sheer workload should be enough to convince the judges who dictates the pace in this contest so far. Erin Andrews wonders how long Cole can hang on in the counterpunching drill since it's not her style but the singer sticks to her plan until the latter stages when Benson ups the tempo and begins to bang repeated jabs up the middle and splits the brunette's gloves in number. A quick charge allows Cole to scythe the actress across the mouth but a looping cross nails her on the eye and reels back on her heels just as the clock expires.

Round 3:
Enough with hanging back - Cheryl's careful defensive plan goes up in smoke seconds into the third when she literally jumps at the taller opponent and slams a left hook on the temple before powering ahead with more leather up the middle. She connects with Benson's chin and rocks her head back yet she finds more success downstairs thereafter. She ploughs into Ashley's ribcage and stuffs her on the heels so quickly even Erin Andrews is stunned. A nasty drive shoves the blonde into the ropes during a one-sided Geordie charge in the second minute which is aided by a head-butt she lands on Benson's chin. Ugh! The younger girl wobbles back against the turnbuckle but struggles to embrace the midsection heat Cole drops on her and can only clinch her in the dying seconds of the round.

Round 4:
Chezza's recovery continues as she ups the tempo of her attacks and the injection of pace neutralizes Ashley's superior reach. It's obvious the blonde would like to enjoy a little more working space but she just can't stretch her elbows during a frantic push from the Geordie singer. Cole lands a couple of nasty hooks up the middle and worryingly exposes the blonde's guard before flirting with another no-to-accidental head-butt. Danielle Harris can barely keep her temper down in the PLP corner but these single hooks keep crashing into Benson's face more often come the final minute and the Americans have to write off this round as the bullying tactics gives the English singer a clear advantage. Well, there's a reason why Megan Fox offered her a shot at the unified flyweight title in first place!

Round 5:
Benson finally gets the jump on the older girl again and settles into the comfortable mid-distance range; she swings plenty of overhand jabs but Cole backs off instead of roaring into a slugging response which indicates a true veteran approach. The number of clean punches begins to drop as both women adjust to the new stance enforced by the actress and it's a difficult one for the judges with Benson seemingly carrying the load from the front (left) leg but lacking the proper power supply. Chezza is urged by the Lioness trainer Mel B. to stay away from the striking range as long as possible and Ashley just doesn't have the injection of pace neccessary to trap the lively opponent on the ropes. Cole escapes the looming American heat and leaves both coach Harris and Benson herself visibly frustrated at the bell which indicates the Geordie singer has actually learned how to run the table without applying the usually successful but otherwise exhausting slugging tactics.

Round 6:
Ashley finds early success through committed jabbing up the middle but she begins to lose ground as the time flies by and she just can't match the improved mobility from the English brunette down the stretch. Chezza tries to lure the blonde into a stalking trap after letting her in with the meaningful crosses early on before Benson's failed pursuit for a proper follow up wobbles her into a nasty double cross on the jaw. Ugh! The phone booth-like range is Cole's favorite playground and she wrecks havoc around the blonde's elbows where she pierces the liver area repeatedly and drives Ashley behind a desperate cover. The drilling attack sends the American onto the ropes and she can't swing back while getting thumped to the body which leads into more angry squeals from coach Harris. They are to no avail though as Cole shuts Benson down in the corner and bangs away from both flanks to leave the younger girl gasping for air at the bell.

Round 7:
Cheryl keeps grinding the Pretty Little Puncher down, she easily enforces the close range stance and bulldozes the midsection in utterly violent fashion. Benson gets shut down on her heels and has to yield real estate but her desperate efforts to land something over the top find nothing but thin air as Cole goes really low on her knees and enjoys thumping the blonde's breadbasket into a mush! Ugh! Even Ashley's yelps are getting too loud for some of the fans and the MSG support dwindles with every punch landing into the blonde's tummy. Benson gets shoved into the ropes right next to Danielle Harris and Chazza gives the PLP manager a quick look before chopping the subdued actress into more spasms. "She's unstoppable now!", Erin Andrews shouts in the booth and only the bell halts the Geordie charge but it's almost too late to salvage the PLP pride now as Ashley chokes on some tears and claims "that little bytch broke my ribs!" as Danielle Harris slumps speechless onto her knees and desperately tries to analyze the damage caused by the rampant brunette.

Round 8:
Ashley somehow makes it out of her corner but she's on dead legs now and the first punch crashing into her ribs bends her sideways and triggers another yelping struggle. Meanwhile Chezza takes full advantage of the American guard dropping low to cover the bruised midriff and whacks the aching blonde on the chin before blasting her across the nose for a good measure. Benson flies back to the ropes like a plastic doll and bounces off them straight into a crushing piledriver on the boobs. Oi, Ashley!!! The poor blonde screams out her loudest and bellows out on jelly knees with eyes closed but not before Cole lands the coup de grace shot on the left temple THAT SENDS HER DOWN ON THE CANVAS!!! Down and out because the referee has no doubts the Long Beach native has taken enough punishment for one night already! KO8 Cheryl Cole!!!

AFTER: While Danielle Harris and Nia Peeples attend the fallen blonde, Cheryl doesn't even care about the woman she just battered into defeat in true grindfest fashion! The only person she really cares about now is Megan Fox whom she defeated last year and who was bold/stupid/crazy enough to offer her the unified flyweight title shot: "My time is now! There's nowhere that ugly bytch can hide so I'll smoke the belts right off her sleazy butt!", Chezza is no stranger to running her mouth as usual as she plans to add the FCBA straps to her current BBU flyweight championship reign. Can the Mirage-turned-Vixen convert stop her from achieving this historical feat? Both women have improved dramatically ever since joining the current management and offer a breath of fresh air in the flyweight championship elite hitherto dominated by the Hall of Famers and Pax Portmanica sidekicks. Even some of the Fittest of them all must step back this time around and simply enjoy the true grudge fight in the making. Because there will be no love lost between Fox and Cole as they battle it out next weekend. For once the Geordie Power is on the brink of becoming the Lioness Alpha Power!

Final result: Cheryl Cole def. Ashley Benson KO8.
