BEFORE:
"Well, I'm back," says Jessica with a lovely smile. "SOME people may have given up on me, but I haven't given up on myself."
"It's too bad this girl lost management," says Katy with a nod. "I like her and she has some talent. But, I've got a job to do tonight, and the fact that I like her isn't going to stop me from doing it."
ROUND ONE:
O'Dell: "We're back at ringside and that's 'Christine Dior Denim Flow' by Kanye West, and, coming to the ring now is..."
McCarthy: "Yes, yes. We know. This tomato can got a shout out from Kanye, who's married to ANOTHER tomato can, in this song. And, don't ask me what that had to do with the price of coffee in Korea..."
Tess: "I'm not sure if there's a square on a bingo card for that..."
Cassie: "Sure there is. And, if you've got 'Mac totally whiffs on an idiom', mark your cards..."
McCarthy: "What ARE you two talking about?"
O'Dell (sighing): "Getting into the ring now is the lovely Jessica Gomes, who..."
McCarthy: "Is a typical Dancing Hooker opponent with NO FCBA wins!"
O'Dell (sighing): "Gomes helped off with the robe to reveal that red bikini we've seen before, and that's 'California Gurls' pounding through the arena, and that can only mean that 'The Santa Barbara Slugger', Katy Perry is headed our way!"
Tess: "Perry, of course, a former lightweight champion looking to get another shot at those belts, and, if she wants to do that any time soon, she needs to take care of business tonight."
O'Dell: "Katy into the ring and helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve. She's wearing that red number of her own we've seen before. And, the ladies are about ready. Time for some picks. Tess favors Katy. Mac?"
McCarthy: "NO FCBA wins. Perry."
O'Dell: "Cassie?"
Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"
O'Dell: "Our panel is unanimous. Let's see if they're right. Jessica right to the jab off the bell, and that's no surprise. She has some reach on Katy and she plans to make use of it. Perry wants to slip just inside, get where she can land, but Gomes doing a good job of preventing that right now."
McCarthy: "She's not only getting the jab on target, she's very active with it, popping it over and over again."
O'Dell: "Is, indeed, and it's making a difference, because she's stopping Katy and setting her up for good right hands. This is excellent stuff from Gomes, especially considering it's coming against a former lightweight champion. For her part, Perry can't get the range down, short on everything."
Tess: "And that's just giving Gomes even more opportunities to land."
O'Dell: "And, she's not missing on them. Jessica's got everything working right now and she's picking Perry apart at the moment, not hurting her rival, but scoring a load of points, that's for sure. Ten seconds to go in the round. Good flurry by Gomes and there's the bell. Jessica. And wide."
Cassie: "And, Gomes takes the 10-9 lead."
ROUND TWO:
O'Dell: "Second begins with Gomes again working the long left, but Perry much more aggressive now. She's coming forward, walking through that jab and letting the hands go, forcing Jessica to back up and cover up. Gomes now on the back foot as Perry makes with the heavy leather..."
Cassie: "Katy one of the hardest hitters in the FCBA, and she's putting plenty of that power into these shots."
O'Dell: "Is, indeed, and Gomes being forced out of her stance again and again. Not a good position to be in and IT JUST GOT WORSE! Left hook from Perry and Jessica's wobbled! Katy swinging away now, letting Jessica have it, forcing her back against the ropes and just going to work..."
McCarthy: "Gomes had better start doing something. Ref isn't going to let her lay against the ropes and take..."
O'Dell: "And, if she was listening to Mac, Jessica begins countering in spots. She's doing enough to stay alive right now, but, that's about all. It's Perry who's getting the work done, banging away to both head and body. Fifteen to go in the second. GOOD right hand by Perry and there's the bell. Katy. Wide."
Tess: "And, we're even at 19."
ROUND THREE:
O'Dell: "Perry looking to end this thing right now. She's forward, walking right through anything Gomes throws. Katy sitting down on everything right now, looking for the shot that puts an end to this. Jessica defensive, looking to ride out this storm. She's keeping the hands up, giving ground..."
McCarthy: "Got to land something for respect here, or Perry's going to keep routing her."
O'Dell: "Hard to do at the moment, though, because she's on the back foot. Katy grabbing as much canvas as she wants, banging a little body, then going back upstairs. Gomes tying up, but Perry shoves her off, lands another solid right hook and then DROPS JESSICA WITH A RIGHT HAND!"
Cassie (singing): "Turn out the liiiigggghhhhtttsss. The party's ooooovverrrrrr...."
O'Dell: "Gomes flat on her back. Perry to a neutral corner. Referee's count at three. Four. Five. Jessica not moving at all. Six. Seven. Gomes now stirring, rolling to her belly at eight. Tries to push up to hands and knees. Can't do it! Nine. TEN! And it's OVER! And your winner by KO3 is 'The Santa Barbara Slugger', Katy Perry!"
Tess: "Too much power from Perry, just as I predicted."
AFTER:
O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"
Tess: "I have our winner, Katy Perry, and, Katy, I said coming in that your power would be the difference..."
Katy (nodding): "She can box just fine. But, there aren't many girls in the FCBA at ANY weight who have the weight of shot I do. If I get you, I GET you. And, I got her."
Tess: "What's next for you?"
Katy: "Well, I'm keeping an eye on the title picture. I'm staying in it. We'll see what happens next."
