“Santa-Kini” Bout

Results: Lookout Writing: Archer

Hayden: 28 YO, 5’1 ½ (1.55 m), 64-30-1, 7 KO since 2007, Foxfire Boxing

Natalie: 18 YO, 5’5 (1.65 m), 1-0-0, 1 KO since 2017, Unmanaged

Before: “You’re a lot smaller than I always thought,” Natalie Alyn Lind said as she and former Flyweight Champion Hayden Panettiere. “You sure you really want to fight me? I am a bantam, you know.”

“I know, that’s why this fight is at catchweight, but I don’t mind a few inches of height. My experience level will cancel that out,” Hayden said with assurance.

“I am glad you liked my idea of making this a ‘Santa-kini” bout,” Natalie said. “I am trying to make my second fight really special.”

“You get to fight me—that should make it plenty special,” Hayden said. “I have some other ideas too.”

“Such as?”

“Well, I still have my ‘pony saddle’—you know the one they made for flyweights to get into Body Saddle bouts—I was thinking I could add some sleigh bells and have you trot me around the ring after I beat you,” Hayden said.

“Well, you’d look kind of silly trying to give ME a ride on one,” Natalie said, “I could just sling you over one shoulder and carry you like a pack of presents.”

“That’s assuming you win,” Hayden said a bit tartly.

“Anything can happen at Christmas,” Natalie said impishly. “I would love to have a win over you for Christmas.”

“Of course you would, but it’s not happening, Just face reality,” Hayden said.

“I am a little puzzled as to why you wanted to fight me? Is it because I beat up Bailee Madison?” Natalie asked.

“No, you have talent, I could see that. I just want to find out how much and this is my way of finding out,:” Hayden said frankly.

“Okay, you’re on, Hayden, see you in the ring,” Natalie said cheerfully.

“Oh I will be there, don’t worry about that,” Hayden said with a glint in her eye.

On the night of the PPV, Natale Alyn Lind showed she while might have been new to the FCBA, but she was more than eager to take part in its traditions. She came to the ring a in a classic red satin bikini trimmed with white faux fur and with a Santa hat perched on her head. She wore black boots and gloves with red laces. Her blonde hair was pulled back in a ponytail. Hayden Panettiere had selected a ice blue bikini with silver snowflakes and trimmed in silver faux furl Her boots and gloved were white with ice blue laces. Her hair was in a battle braid down her back.

“Oh boy, love those blue and silver bottoms,” Natalie said, “wait until I start spanking them and add some nice Yuletide Red.”

“Dream on, rookie,” Hayden said with a smirk, “I have my pony saddle all ready for you. Believe me your second career fight will be something to remember—just not in the way you think.”

“I am SO loving this fed, let’s stop talking and get to the ‘good part’—punching each other,” Natalie said eagerly.

“Good idea,” the waiting referee said drily.

“Sorry,” Hayden says, “she just brings out the trash talk in me.”

Natalie just smiled proudly. The referee sighed and shook his head. Fortunately for that most-tried official, the ring instructions went smoothly and they even tapped gloves with politeness. Then they were off to their corners, both clearly ready to go—and then the bell rang. It was on!

R1: Hayden moved smoothly out of her corner and headed for the taller blonde. Natalie moved quickly, though not with the practiced footwork of the veteran, but she did make a nice fake to the left that drew Hayden’s attention. Then Natalie brought a right hook into Hayden’s exposed jaw. Hayden was sent spinning away by the impact of the punch and ended up with her back to the ropes, a stunned expression on her face. Natalie wasted no time in closing in with some quick straight rights and lefts to pound Hayden’s face, Hayden covered her face and Natalie shifted to working the veteran’s belly, ribs and breasts. Hayden shuddered on the bombardment and took several long moments before she could clinch Natalie to break up the attack. Natalie was right back at Hayden after the break, but Hayden was able to slide along the ropes until she could slip around Natalie’s attempts to keep her boxed in. They moved back to center ring where Hayden was able to use her jab to slow Natalie’s attack to the bell. Natalie was smiling happily as she could see Hayden looking at her with a mixture of anger and puzzlement.

R2: Hayden seemed to be stewing during the break. She was clearly not happy with losing that first round to the rookie. Trainer Virginia Madsen could be seen trying to calm the rising anger in her fighter, but Hayden was still scowling as the bell sounded. She leaped off her stool and came charging at Natalie looking like she wanted to knock the rookie into depths of the arena. Hayden had her arm drawn back and unleashed as huge right that was aimed at Natalie’s head. However it was a punch that even a rookie like Natalie could see coming. The younger blonde coolly ducked to let the right sail over her head while bringing a crashing uppercut into Hayden’s chin. Hayden was sent rocking back on her heels, arms dropping to her sides, but somehow still on her feet. Natalie stood there staring at the sight in excitement and it took her several precious moments to realize Hayden was still standing. Natalie rushed forward, but Hayden still had the presence of mind to go face-in-gloves and Natalie was forced to pound away at Hayden’s flanks. Natalie worked hard and drove Hayden onto the ropes, but Hayden simply took a seat on the strands and kept covered up. Natalie flailed away but could not bring Hayden down. At the bell, Natalie stood there, chest heaving, sweat pouring down her body looking more frustrated than happy as an achy-looking Hayden peeled herself off the ropes and walked quietly back to her corner. The judges gave Natalie the round in a shutout, but though she had done a lot of damage to Hayden, Natalie was unhappy on stool as she realized she had failed to bring the veteran down in a vulnerable moment.

R3: Hayden was much more cautious coming out for this round. She kept a tight defense and used her jab to punish Natalie when she tried to close in on her. Natalie kept coming, trying to maintain the pressure on Hayden, but the veteran’s jab disrupted attack after attack as leather smacked her hard in the face. Then as Natalie’s attacks slacked off, Hayden upped her own punchrate and struck at Natalie’s belly with deep, grinding hooks that had Natalie gasping. Natalie dropped back, but then counterattacked. Hayden hunched up continued to hammer Natalie to the belly, but added punches to the ribcage and the breasts to push Natalie back, though Natalie continued to try to resume the attack at the bell. Judges ruled this a close round, but in Hayden’ favor.

R4: Natalie and Hayden went right back at each other as the new round opened. Hayden did add some circling and counter-circling moves to confuse Natalie. This worked the first few times as an off-balance Natalie found herself struck hard by surprise pops from the veteran. However Natalie’s answer to this was to charge in try to use her size advantage to block Hayden’s movements while using her punches to belabor Hayden to the body. Hayden tried to dig in and pound Natalie’s young juggs. This clearly made Natalie uncomfortable, but she answered with smacking jugg shots of her own, but then she suddenly shifted to bring an overhand her to smash Hayden on the bridge of the nose. This stunned Hayden and caused her to raise her gloves to protect her head. Natalie then pounded Hayden’s belly until she had Hayden doubled up and backing away just as the bell sounded. It had been another close round but this one went to Natalie Alyn Lind. Both fighters looked fired up and there were a pushing and shoving match after the bell that the referee was obliged to break up with finger-waving warnings.

R5: No surprise that Hayden and Natalie plunged right back into toe to toe action as the fight resumed. Hayden was again attacking Natalie to the body, but Natalie was giving it right back to Hayden’s body. The sound of leather smacking wet flesh could be clearly heard and revealed the punishment the two straining blondes were inflicting on each other. Hayden was clearly the smaller fighter, but she was using her punches with great accuracy and power. Natalie was slowly ground down, fighting all the way, but still being forced back as the arms of the veteran worked like piston rods to maintain the pressure to the bell. Natalie was breathing hard, but she gave Hayden a defiant look before marching to her corner. However this latest close round went to Hayden’s side of the judges’ cards.

R6: Hayden came out clearly expecting to resume the close-in action, but Natalie was suddenly circling and firing punches at her from a distance. Hayden was being out-ranged by the taller Natalie and she scowled, then charged in trying to force her way in close. Natalie greeted this attack with hard lefts and rights to the head, Then she sunk quick right hooks into Hayden’s stomach and the veteran was falling back in disorder. Natalie lunged after her catching her with a raking swipe across the chin. Hayden found herself pushed back into the ropes and being clouted with hard hooks to the belly. Again Hayden had to go face-in-gloves as she huddled against the ropes. Natalie again flailed away, landing a lot of punches to Hayden’s quivering body, but Hayden never seemed in danger of crumbling to the canvas. Hayden now glared defiantly at a sweaty Natalie who was breathing hard from her efforts. Natalie didn’t seem to like this and moved towards Hayden, but the sharp-eyed referee jumped in to keep the two apart. Meanwhile the judges awarded the round to Natalie by a wide margin.

R7: Hayden sat quietly on her stool during the break, listening quietly to the advisc Virginia Madsen was giving her. Natalie was being worked over by her corner crew. She was slumped wearily, as though finally feeling the loss of energy she had expended thus far, but she snapped alert at the bell and headed out. Hayden was off her stool even more quickly and she went right at Natalie striking quickly to the belly with right and left hooks. Natalie moved to counter to the head, but Hayden suddenly make a quick evasive move that had took Natalie by surprise. Hayden then brought a right to the temple that sent an electric shock through Natalie’s body. She stumbled forward, clearly headed for the canvas, but Hayden darted in with a right to the jaw to make sure. Natalie flopped on her belly and lay there, arms and legs spread apart, cheek resting on the canvas. Hayden went to the neutral corner. The referee began to count. Natalie stirred and got to all fours, but then all she could do was push herself into a kneeling postion looking right at Hayden. She hung her head unable to do anymore.

“EIGHT!...NINE!...TEN!...YOU’RE OUT!”

THE WINNER: HAYDEN PANETTIERE DEFEATS NATALIE ALYN LIND KO7

After: Hayden happily accepted the cheers of the crowd and waved to her fans, but what she really wanted came a few minutes later. Natalie had been revived and pronounced fit. Then Hayden signaled to Sarah Carter and Willa Holland who trotted out in elves costumes bearing Hayden’s “pony saddle” but it was bedecked with red and white ribbon as well as a number of small sleigh bells.

“So that’s a ‘pony saddle’,” Natalie said gamely as Sarah and Willa applied the straps, “Does it have to be so tight.”

“Wouldn’t want it to fall off,:” Hayden explained. She had donned a red Santa jacket and hat. As a finishing touch she added a “reindeer horns” headpiece to Natalie’s head. She then posed for photos with the bemused Natalie.

“Can you quit gloating and start riding, I’m getting bored,” Natalie complained.

“If you insist,” Hayden said, pushing Natalie forward and then climbing aboard. She waved her Santa cap and cried: “Off to the North Pole, Reindeer Natty!”

Natalie set off an impressive trot, but after two circuits with Hayden rising up in her stirrups to pose, Natalie’s legs began to shake. Hayden insisted on one more circuit, slapping Natalie’s red bikini bottom to urge her on. The third circuit done, Natalie’s knees gave way and she sank down. Hayden smoothly stepped away. She then joined Sarah and Willa in removing the saddle. They all posed over the exhausted Natalie.

“And to all of you—a ‘Good Night’!” Hayden proclaimed and they made their exit but not before Hayden bent down and told the defeated Natalie:

“Good fight, Natalie. I’ll be watching you from now on. Keep fighting.”

Natalie opened a tired eye: “Of course I will—I mean to get back you for this some day—so enjoy the win while you can. This isn’t over.”

Hayden patted Natalie on the bottom: “I’ll remember that. ‘Happy Holidays!’”

Not a great surprise that the experienced Hayden Panettiere was able to beat a rookie in her second fight, but Natalie did show punching power. Several times she had Hayden in trouble, but couldn’t get her down. Natalie expended a lot of energy in these efforts and it would appear she started running out of gas allowing Hayden to come back and win it. Better conditioning might help that problem, but Natalie’s bigger problem as it is for nearly all unmanaged fighters is finding winnable fights. What 2018 has in store for Natalie Alyn Lind is uncertain, but Hayden Panettiere seems likely to have a title shot in her future. In any case, flyweight fans can speculate on the future while savoring this hard-fought contest.
