BEFORE:

"I'm TIRED of talking about this slump," says a hard-eyed Brenda. "Sick and tired of it. And, you know, there's a way for me to stop having to do that. END it. And, that's what I'm going to do tonight."

"You would have to be a FOOL," says Jennette with a shake of the head, "To think that Brenda Song isn't still a top flyweight. And, I'm not a fool. I'm not taking her lightly. But. I AM going to beat her."

ROUND ONE:

O'Dell: "Back at ringside and that's 'Hungarian Rhapsody #2 by Liszt' and that can only mean that Brenda Song of the Bazz Fight Club is coming to the ring..."

Cassie: "And, Brenda IS sick of this slump. And she's definitely planning to do something about it tonight."

O'Dell: "Song all business. Down the aisle and into the ring quickly. She's helped off with the robe to reveal that black two-piece we've seen before. And, that's 'Lust For Life' by Iggy Pop you hear hammering through the arena, and here comes the newest member of Front Street Boxing, 'The Answer', Jennette McCurdy!"

McCarthy: "'The Answer'? What kind of a stupid nickname is that????"

Tess: "As I recall, it worked pretty well for Allen Iverson."

McCarthy: "SHUT UP, WALMART!"

O'Dell: "Drink up, boys, as Jennette climbs into the ring and is helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve to reveal and black and white striped bikini and a body the crowd clearly appreciates. And, we're about ready to go. Time for some picks. Tess likes Jennette. Mac?"

McCarthy: "I HATE to pick Scabbo's running buddy, so, I won't. McCurdy!"

O'Dell: "Cassie?"

Cassie: "Oh, Brenda's GOING to win this fight."

O'Dell: "There's the bell. Blonde aggressive off the bell. She's got the size in this one and she wants to make use of it and BRENDA MAKES HER PAY with a NASTY combination! McCurdy not hurt, but that got her attention and Song lands another big flurry! Blonde covering up and Brenda getting off now!"

Cassie: "That's a mistake...trying to get all aggressive on Brenda..."

O'Dell: "It certainly didn't work all that well. Song's grabbed the initiative in this round and she's holding onto it. She has McCurdy on the defensive and she's letting her have it and THAT WOBBLED JENNETTE! A nice right hook and Brenda's going all in now, backing the blonde to the ropes..."

McCarthy: "Yet another failed Front Street flyweight..."

O'Dell: "Jennette rope bound as Song picks her apart from every conceivable angle. Blonde in deep trouble right now. Referee looking in. McCurdy covering up. Jabbing back here and there, just trying to get out of this round. GOOD right from Brenda and there's the bell! What a round for Song, who grabs it wide!"

ROUND TWO:

O'Dell: "Second begins with Song remaining the aggressor. McCurdy seems to be firming up, but Brenda still calling the tune right now, landing in combination, sending in leather from those odd angles, and it's creating problems for Jennette. Blonde can't seem to figure out where this stuff is coming from..."

Tess: "We've seen it before and said it before about Song. She has an unorthodox style that makes her very difficult to deal with."

O'Dell: "Jennette trying to get some distance now. She's using the jab. Wants to work at range. This may be one way to slow Song down, keep her on the outside. Brenda angling, though, still able to get the left on and work the right off it. Jennette finally scoring a little now, though..."

McCarthy: "McCurdy's at least gotten into the fight."

O'Dell: "Has, indeed, but it's still Brenda who's getting the better of things. Song hard to find. You find arms and gloves and empty space, but not much of Brenda. But, she finds YOU, from spots where you wouldn't expect leather to come. Five seconds left in the second and there's the bell. Song."

Cassie: "And, Brenda has the 20-18 lead."

ROUND THREE:

O'Dell: "Into the third and McCurdy working at range. All the pressure has been thrown out the window. She wants to box with right now, try to figure out all this geometry with Brenda. Song willing to play this game. Doesn't need to press at the moment. So, we're settling into two-way boxing now..."

Cassie: "Brenda's willing to do this because she's GOOD at it."

O'Dell: "As we can plainly see as we head for the mid-point of the third. Both fighters effective on these terms, as blonde and brunette work the jab, try to follow on with right hands. Both moving the feet well. Both playing good defense. And, both maintaining a high work rate resulting in a SHARP exchange there!"

Tess: "Both fighters landed solid rights in there."

O'Dell: "Did indeed. Coming down the stretch in the third stanza. Song slipping, dipping, landing a good combination. McCurdy fires right back, landing a good right hand in that flurry. Ladies tie up. Referee gets in there and breaks them, and there's the bell. Close. McCurdy's on the board."

McCarthy: "29-28 for Scerbo's running buddy after three."

ROUND FOUR:

O'Dell: "Fourth starts back at range. Song slipping, dipping, being all hard to find. Jennette wants to square up, but, finding it hard to do, as the brunette just isn't where you expect her to be, ever. Brenda a nice right hand there and MCCURDY ROCKS HER WITH A RIGHT-HAND COUNTER!"

Tess: "She found her with THAT."

O'Dell: "And, now the blonde letting the hands go. She's all in, winging away, backing Brenda up, trying to get her on the ropes. Song wobbly, but still able to stay off the cables. She ties up now. Jennette shoves her off, lands a good left hook. Brenda ties up again, and again McCurdy shoves off..."

Cassie: "Brenda working clock here. And doing it pretty well."

O'Dell: "She is. Jennette scoring plenty, but hasn't been able to get a full-on clean up going after that big right hand. Instead, Brenda slowing her down, blocking punches, tying up. GOOD left hook from McCurdy that got Song's attention. Brunette ties up again. Referee breaks them apart, and there's the bell. Jennette, wide, but Brenda limited the damage."

McCarthy: "And, we're even at 38."

ROUND FIVE:

O'Dell: "Fifth begins with McCurdy trying to press the action and Song landing a nice combination. Blonde has been down this road before. She sets up at range and prepares to box with. Song angling, landing another flurry. McCurdy fires back with a solid combination of her own."

Cassie: "Smart move by Jennette. If she gets too aggressive, she's going to be right back where she was in the first."

O'Dell: "And, that's why she's staying patient, working the feet, trying to square with the jab and then follow on with right hands. Song again very, very hard to find, so unorthodox. She's in places you wouldn't expect and she's scoring from those places, forcing Jennette onto the defensive here and there."

McCarthy: "McCurdy has to be careful not to get TOO passive here. She doesn't want to become a counter-puncher. That's not her game."

O'Dell: "No, the blonde's about effective aggression. And, THERE'S a nice combination, Jennette! Found with the left and then got the right on target. Song answers with a good one-two of her own and then slips to her left to reset. Jennette turning in response, popping out the left to the bell. Close. Song."

Tess: "And, Brenda's back up, 48-47."

ROUND SIX:

O'Dell: "McCurdy looking to up the pressure now. She wants to get physical here, NEEDS to get physical here, but that's the trick against Song. She'll use that against you. Jennette measured, stepping in behind the left, looking to bang some, but ever careful of those counters from Song."

McCarthy: "This is actually better for McCurdy. She needs to fight lead."

O'Dell: "GOOD RIGHT HAND, JENNETTE! McCurdy wobbles Song with the right and now she's letting the hands go again! Brenda giving ground, keeping the guard high, GETTING ROCKED AGAIN! Left hook that time and Song is GOBSMACKED! Referee has to keep an eye on this..."

Tess: "No question about it."

O'Dell: "Song now pinned back on the cables. She's moving the head and shoulders, rolling with, keeping the hands high, jabbing back here and there. McCurdy going body now, thumping the ribs. Brenda tying up. Jennette shoving off again, landing a solid left hook, but there's the bell. Shutout, McCurdy, but Song like Elton John, still standing."

Cassie: "And, still even in this fight, 57-57."

ROUND SEVEN:

O'Dell: "Jennette after Brenda now. Song's legs not all the way back and McCurdy going to ride this horse as long as she can. She's stepping in behind that left, backing the brunette up with hard shot. Song playing defense, keeping the guard high, looking to counter, but not finding many opportunities..."

Cassie: "She only needs ONE..."

O'Dell: "True enough. But, right now, it's Jennette who's finding the opportunities, landing solid shot with both hands, backing Brenda toward the cables again. GOOD right hand, McCurdy! That one buzzed Song! Brenda backed to the ropes yet again and McCurdy getting off lusty..."

Tess: "But, still not really lining Song up."

O'Dell: "She is not. Brenda still able to slip and roll with much of it. Blonde trying to find the shot that will end it, but can't seem to. She's continuing to throw bombs, though, determined to finish. But, it's not going to happen. Ten seconds to go. Song lands a solid right and there's the bell. Shutout, McCurdy again."

McCarthy: "And, she's in the lead, 67-66 with three to go."

ROUND EIGHT:

O'Dell: "Song giving ground to start the eighth. McCurdy taking everything the brunette gives her. Jennette getting more aggressive by the minute here, wants to bring this thing to an end before Song can shake the damage and get back into the fight. Nice right hand counter from Brenda!"

Cassie: "THAT'S what I'm talking about. Jennette had better be CAREFUL..."

O'Dell: "McCurdy stepping in, working some body. Song ties up, Jennette leverages with the shoulder and NAILS BRENDA WITH AN UPPERCUT! Song stumbles backward and MCCURDY DROPS HER! Brenda dropped to her left side by a BOOMING right hand from the blonde!"

McCarthy: "I might sing..."

Tess: "I would NOT advise it..."

O'Dell: "McCurdy to a neutral corner. Song down and looking like out. Count at three. Four. Five. Brunette rolls to her belly. Maybe not out after all. Six. Seven. Brenda shoving up to hands and knees. Eight. Song rising and stumbling into the ropes! Falls back to her knees at nine. TEN! It's OVER! And your winner by KO8 is 'The Answer', Jennette McCurdy!"

AFTER:

O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"

Tess: "I have our winner, Jennette McCurdy, and J-Mac, big win for you tonight..."

Jennette (laughing): "It was HUGE! And, I LIKE that nickname!"

Tess: "Seriously, though, she's got a tough style to deal with..."

Jennette: "It's not just that. She's very talented, too. Very skilled. Very smart. Add all that up, and she's no fun to fight. But. I'm the answer. The answer to Front Street's problems gaining the flyweight belts. I'm the answer. I HAVE the answers. And I had one tonight."
