Kendall Jenner versus Yvonne Strahovski

BEFORE: This match-up is a potentially huge one tonight, representing two divergent futures for the league - both of which are promising for the FCBA - but only one will be acceptable to each of tonight’s participants. 

First of all, you have the current lightweight champion and without question, one of the hottest fighters (in more ways than one) in the FCBA, Kendall Jenner. Frequently dismissed and underestimated, Kendall has had a stellar run throughout her time so far in the league and just completed not one, but two title defenses in the same month against quality contenders. Tonight, she goes for a historic 5th title defense against none other than….

Yvonne Strahovski, who has historically been one of the league’s best pound for pound fighters in the division, but struggled last year against some of the rising stars of the league, leaving many pundits to ponder whether her time at the top is coming to an end. However, she comes in determined tonight to put those questions to rest for the time being and hopefully get another lightweight title to add to her already rich legacy. 

Determination is not a question for either fighter, however and certainly not listening to either of them at the podium.

Yvonne smiling, though her voice sounds intense as she discusses the past year, “I blew it last year - I had a chance to shut the door on these models running over the league, but I lost to Adriana Lima. It put me into a tailspin - I lost two more matches and one to another model, Miranda Kerr, who I’ll admit Kendall just beat. But, as I always have during my career, I’ve worked hard to come back and I’m not going to blow this opportunity. Kendall has been impressive, but we can’t let models take over this league and it’s time to put a stop to it. Tonight.” as Yvonne slams her fist down on the table emphatically.

Kendall smirking at the podium, eyes filled with confidence and mischief, “What Vonnie doesn’t seem to realize is that it’s not about letting models take over the league. It’s already taken place and what Strahovski is trying to do is close the barn door AFTER the cows have already gotten out. Although if anybody is a cow in this scenario, it’s that fat-ass Aussie. I’m sick and tired of hearing people dismiss me and models in general as not having any talent. Obviously, Yvonne has been one of the best lightweights in the world and emphasis on the has-been, but when they see her sobbing at my feet, it’s going to mark the end of an era. Tonight.” as Kendall slams her fist down on the table as well, mockingly as tempers seem to flare between the two.

Neither of the two even looking at one another as they enter the ring, seemingly interested in dismissing the other before the match starts but both of them chest up to one another and try to intimidate the other as the ref orders them to touch gloves. Kendall and Yvonne touch gloves, then the ref wisely separates them as the two of them are ready to take each other down and when the bell rings, it’s on…! 

R1,2: Girls in similar closed stances - left shoulders pointed at the opponent; left hands at tummies, right hands at chests. Both girls supple-waisted, preferring to bob, dip and roll on flat feet rather than dancing about. Leads to sinuous chess match at medium/close ranges...girls weaving in and out, up and down, lashing the odd left hand across offending tummy or jug; trying right hands to elusive head - having better luck with a hateful, chopping right in above opposing succulent left hip. Vonnie adept at dipping low to put her left shoulder into Kendall, then pivot-stepping right, turning brunette girl counter-clockwise. Kendall making a bit better use of the jab - rarely landing it flush, but the whisper of mitt grazing cheek or shoulder keeps Vonnie defensive. Round 1 to Yvonne, Round 2 to Kendall by the closest possible margins...girls just being lithe and slick through two. 

R3: Vonnie having a bit better luck with the right hand over Kendall's left shoulder - Strahovski chopping it short to ear, catching brunette girl as she's bobbing, disrupting Jenner. Swatting hooks from the hip cuff at Jenner's tummy, bat at her tits...Kendall punched out of her stance for the first time as Yvonne pounces forward. Midway through, Kendall tries to hop clockwise, but Vonnie anticipates well, punching a right hand into Jenner's face as she's circling, shunting her to ropes. Vonnie stepping-to - flicking a little backhand left at Kendall's tummy, then BELTING her a sneaky switch-up right flat to face. brunette head pitches over top rope; brunette legs loosen...Jenner's hurt, forming ragged earmuff, grunting as Vonnie licks the waistline right/left. Strahovski trimming left uppercuts across Jenner's guard, but brunette girl stays alert, hook-receipting to Yvonne's chin, spooking brunette back out of range. Yvonne eyes narrowed, predatory, but cautious...she'll stoop and reach the jab to Jenner's tummy, touching precious brunette belly-meat but not risking heavier contact to bell. As Jenner relaxes against ropes - Vonnie swivels on her hips, drawing that silky blonde ponytail across sulky brunette jugs and face...Jenner blinks in astonishment as Yvonne struts away with a haughty ponylash and conqueror's buttocks.

R4: Same flat footed, closed stances midring - girls matching wits, torsos, reflexes. Jenner upping her volume if not her connect percentage...fists whisking past Vonnie's ears/over Vonnie's shoulders as supple brunette weaves the work. Undaunted, Jenner keeps it up - peppering straight lefts and rights, keeping Vonnie defensive. brunette girl willing to waste any number of pesky punches in order to chop the odd hateful right in over Vonnie's left hip/lower back. Strahovski's lip curling when smote hard, pivoting to her right, looking to answer back bolo right uppercuts tummy or chin.

R5: Kendall picking fists up, tucking elbows in...she's pinging out lefts and rights in peppering cadence now, her back (right) ankle up off canvas. Vonnie slippin' like a champ - right hand palm out at left side of her mouth/left across her gut - Jenner's fists brushing past cheeks, ears, shoulders as Vonnie moves her head. Jenner's fine with missing: she keeps her stance balanced, willing to miss half a dozen times to get one good look at Vonnie's back with that lashing right. Strahovski grimacing, feeling Kendall to the body...brunette still offering that stoop-and-reach jab to the tummy; sneaky up-jabs to breasts, but not really answering Kendall's work through 5.

R6: Yvonne switches out of cobra mode - now using more pounce-attacks off feints...she's looking to catch Kendall one good right hand, then speed past brunette left flank to reset on the far side. Jenner spooked by the lithe jump of her foe - covering up to block right hands on her gloves, but unable to intercept sleek brunette on her way past. Down the stretch, Yvonne goes back to edging her left shoulder into Kendall - pivoting right to turn brunette girl counter-clockwise - then clawing the left hook across trembling brunette tummy. Classy Strahovski shutout has her prancing back to her corner all demure and pretty. Jenner scowling, chiding herself en route to stool.

R7: Vonnie's legs and pounce dictating terms - slashing attacks keeping brunette girl covered up and turning midring. Kendall's bread and butter still that hacking right hand laid in thick above sleek brunette left hip, but it's a rare occurrence: Vonnie generally able to keep her distance, circling to her right to keep away from Jenner's power. Preening, haughty aspect to Yvonne now when she's well outside, circling into her next angle...she's in control and both girls know it.

R8: Vonnie spittin' lefts and rights in swift, straight-punching combinations...Kendall shows her skill by slipping the work all bendy back and cutie-pie shoulders. Girls rotating counter-clockwise, taking turns trying to touch each other up in combination...defence trumps offence as neither girl can find the mark flush. Midway through though, Kendall gets it right, slipping a trio of darting Strahovski lefts and rights; rotating up out of the crouch with a wide, swinging hook; toggling Vonnie's chin with the hardest head-shot of the fight! Strahovski rattling back on her heels, hitting ropes in disarray: lovely exotic hurt, laying back with left across her gut/back of right hand at left cheek. Vonnie dipping side to side/swaying back over ropes/bending far forward...she's all bendy and elusive in the pocket as Jenner looks to close the show! brunette girl spraying punches - curling hot-swatting lefts and rights just over Vonnie's head as brunette ducks beneath; brushing chin as Vonnie's leaning out of range. Only thing that's there is the body: Kendall finally heeding the screams of her corner by banging away rights and lefts to hips/waist at bell. Yvonne pursing her lips, shaking her head no as she shoves Kendall out of the way en route to corner: Jenner turns high-spirited brat - reaching out to reef the world's haughtiest ponytail. Violent tug yanks Vonnie's head back/turns her around...ref has to rush in and read both girls the riot act as tempers flare.

R9: Clockwise rotation this time - fighters taking turns missing with hissing, criss-cross combinations: supple-backed head movement just too good early. Midway through, Yvonne ducks a spitting left/right/left; leaps into a hook from the hip...clapping blast to chin rocks brunette world! Jenner knees accordion up and down, sending her reeling to ropes: Yvonne walks her down with the heartless eyes of a harem girl battling for pillow-turf. Feint/right hand scores straight up the middle, driving Kendall's head back, folding her forward in groggy earmuff. Yvonne re-jigs, licking a GORGEOUS, limber left hook in underneath Kendall's guard again, stuffing DEEP into the tummy. Cry of pain, brunette girl...Jenner cringes forward, reaching for Yvonne's golden left thigh: Strahovski lashes an extra left across Kendall's lower back, then as Kendall tries to straighten up, a swift hook across her cheek sends her model foe swiveling in shock! DOWN GOES KENDALL! Brunette girl dazed, rolling onto her back, left hand clutching her abs as she writhes picturesquely on the spot...OH the sultry look of supremacy Yvonne gives as she struts past, gazing down. That's it - brunette girl beaten senseless, hurt to the body...Kendall can't beat the count as Yvonne records a KO9 in exquisite fashion. 

AFTER: What a match - Yvonne manages to take down Kendall in a classic bout to retake the lightweight title. Strahovski has claimed the title several times before, but this one seems to mean a lot to her as she roars out in excitement, pounding her chest and pumping her fist into the air. Several reporters and fans fortunate enough to get ringside seats report tears in her eyes. Yvonne storms over to Kendall, who is still being helped up, screaming down at her, “WHO IS THE HAS-BEEN NOW, HUH?” and “MODELS ARE OVER!!”

Yvonne wiping away tears before she addresses the press, taking a moment as she smiles, “Obviously, this title means a lot to me. It has been rough the past year watching it being passed from model to model, but to bring it back home where it belongs is just so freaking special. Championship opportunities don’t come along all the time, so you have to really treasure them when they do and to take down Kendall, who has been amazing so far in this league, is awesome. Just awesome. It’s time to put models back in their place and like I said before, that starts tonight…” 

But, Yvonne’s declarations will have to wait as Yvonne’s stablemate, Kate Upton, has charged the ring, obviously eager to splash a dazed Kendall who is being helped up in the corner. Fortunately, for Kendall’s sake, Kate is intercepted by Missy Peregrym, who manages to push a seething Kate backwards as Yvonne rolls her eyes, seeing her post-fight address to the media being interrupted by another model, even if this one is on her stable. 

A heated and angry whispered discussion follows, but when reporters can hear things again, it’s Yvonne gripping Kate by the arm as she hisses, “Tonight is my night, not yours. I don’t like Kendall any more than you do, but I’ve got her tonight and more importantly, I took her title. Missy has her up next and nobody is betting on Kendall when she’s got me and Missy back to back. If there is anything left of her confidence and pride by the time Missy P is done with her, you can clean up whatever’s left, alright?” 

Kate looks furious and appears ready to lunge for Kendall again, but Yvonne steps between them and Upton storms away in the other direction - for now. Kendall looks just as angry but also relieved in her corner as Yvonne turns towards her brunette rival, accepting the lightweight title in one hand and then stepping forward, unleashing a vicious slap across Jenner’s cheek with her other hand. 

Jenner is taken aback, as is the crowd, with things getting very loud and obscuring the words from Yvonne, as she seems to say: “You’re done, little girl.” but nobody can make it out. Kendall’s face a mask of rage, however, at whatever is said as Kendall leaps forward, with her and Missy getting into a shoving match as the two of them lead into a match-up next month at a big card for both fighters. Kendall is forcefully dragged away from the conflict by fellow stablemates Hilary Rhoda and Alessandra Ambrosio as tensions between these two stables are higher than ever.

But, for now, Yvonne hugs the lightweight title to her chest for a moment, closing her eyes for a moment to savor her triumph as she raises it over her head to the roars of the crowd as she beams with obvious joy. But, regardless of what Yvonne said, nobody, probably not even her, believes that the time for models is over. Kendall will be back and each division, though primarily light/welter, are experiencing their own model invasion. 

Whether this will be the start of turning back the tide or just momentarily putting a dam in the flood waters will be seen over time, but for now, it’s Yvonne Strahovski back on top and there’s no model to be seen on the horizon. One has a feeling that won’t last for long but we also have a feeling, Yvonne will work hard to be ready for whoever comes her way . In fact, listening to the fans chant her name, Strahovski knows this isn’t something she’ll give up easily but in this competitive lightweight division, it’s never easy and the FCBA’s lightweight champ wouldn’t have it any other way!
