Holly Valance vs Lily Aldridge
(The Metermaids vs Lioness Club)
(14-14-1, 7 KO vs 1-1, 1 KO)
Results: Lookout!; Story: Vassago

BEFORE: Holly Valance's boxing career has been in steady decline for some time now but she remains a valuable scalp on any aspiring contender's resume and Victoria's Secret stalwart Lily Aldridge belongs to that category. The Santa Monica native made a solid FCBA debut last fall when she defeated Sui He before almost going right down to the wire against P4P leader Adriana Lima. That performance alone warrants another opportunity and the sultry brunette suddenly becomes odds-on favorite to steal the headlines against the Aussie veteran. However Valance dimisses those ideas and claims that "experience will be everything tonight" which doesn't really sound all that confident according to Erin Andrews in the ESPN commentary booth.

Holly Valance wears a golden bikini set and avocado green gloves. Long light brown hair tied in a sleek ponytail. Lily Aldridge wears a dark green bikini set and silver gloves. Long dark brown hair tied in a custom ponytail. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the lightweight division.

Round 1:
Holly comes flying out of the gate and establishes early control as Lily prefers to see the more experienced girl out but gets whacked repeatedly to the body which only fuels the Aussie confidence. Holly digs her mitts straight into Lily's tummy and wraps her in a proper close range bash which even the brunette's mobility can't embrace at this stage. Valance keeps hauling crisp punches on target and Aldridge's response from the back foot barely grazes the flesh which allows the older woman to bump her foe onto the ropes come the final minute. Holly lands a couple of hooks upstairs but remains committed to the body assault and leaves the American staring at her in disbelief at the bell.

Round 2:
Lily tries to speed things up following that tough opener but gets beaten for the initial punch as Holly thrives on confidence and catches the younger woman off guard with a spirited combo upstairs that finds the jaw. Ugh! Lily's head snaps back and she immediately drops to her heels which allows the Aussie tourist to cash in with more clear shots up the middle. She tags the American's rack before settling into the familiar body assault that bends Aldridge in half and leaves her seeking an early clinch. Valance bumps her off though and finds another cruel uppercut on the jaw that forces Aldridge into defensive circles. The VS stalwart gives up real estate but still has the superior footwork to cover up for her offensive flaws. That wins her little praise from the booth as Erin Andrews says the girl is simply spooked out there as Holly really means business tonight.

Round 3:
The Lioness counter-punching plan goes out of the window due to Holly's impressive start and this time the Aussie gets caught out by a pure brawling display from the younger brunette. Lily tees off from the left and cracks a couple of piercing hooks on the eye which stagger Valance but the Aussie veteran refuses to back off and rips a crossing route herself. She tries to whack Aldridge upstairs but doesn't find as much success as she did while pounding her foe to the body and gets whacked on the chin a couple of times as Lily moves onto the front (left) foot and picks her off instead. The phone booth slugging drill suits the American better and she backs the tourist into the ropes where Holly can't stretch her elbows anymore and disappears behind a tight earmuff during the final few seconds.

Round 4:
The Lioness comeback is on as Valance's subpar mobility gets exposed and enables Aldridge to channel her Odette Yustman-inspired moves. She outworks the older brunette in close range and avoids getting spiked to the body as Holly has to cover for the uptempo swinging that was nowhere to be seen early on. That's a bruising tactics which might come back to haunt the California model but Lily snaps Holly's head back & forth during a heavy close range push during the second minute and the Aussie response keeps bouncing off the forearms which further plays into the Lioness plan. Aldridge hoofs the Valance guard aside thereafter and tears into her lips with a steady jabbing drill that probably explains why the Aussie stunner has been labelled as mere journeywoman these days. She simply can't sustain the high-tempo assault on the long run anymore and can't escape a proper close range heat either. She drops to the ropes with a loud gasp and Lily comes crashing down on her yet again but this time finally gets blocked by the otherwise wilting tourist.

Round 5:
Holly lands a cruel punch on the brow ridge to start the fifth which stalls the American charge for a while but the Aussie pursuit ends up well short of the mark as Lily goes trademark Odette all over again and weathers the brief rush in commanding defensive fashion. Holly almost falls flat on her face as she loses her balance a couple of times but simply can't put a finger on the bendy opponent anymore and is almost resigned to soak up a proper counter-punching juice in the second half of the round. Aldridge might not have a devastating punch but she works the tourist over along the ropes and sticks more beef to the body with Holly unable to break free. She gets pummelled into the corner and stops a late jabbing flurry with her face since her guard has now officially collapsed to finally pull Lily ahead on the cards.

Round 6:
Lily has all the momentum now and Holly can't do anything about it due to her inferior footwork. She swings a couple of hooks off target but Lily dances around them before blasting the sluggish tourist against the nose and tearing into her guts moments later. Valance gets caught on the solar plexus and sinks with a loud groan but this only fuels Aldridge's desire as she whacks the aching woman from both flanks and bounces off the ribcage to wobble the embattled opponent into proper spasms. Valance swings out one more time, seemingly a desperate attempt to find a haymaker but misses Lily's head by several inches and gets countered on the spot. Left hook nails her on the ear before a right hand squashes her lips into a bloody mess. Ugh! The gravity does the rest and HOLLY TUMBLES TO HER BACKSIDE unable to embrace the fellow brunette's onslaught any longer. She then collapses on her back and shakes her head as she begins to realize this is probably too much for her to overcome. And it is too much as the ref waves off the fight at eight with the proud Aussie tourist simply unable to stay off her back. KO6 Lily Aldridge!!!

AFTER: Relentless. That's the word to describe Lily's impressive comeback after she was basically shut out during the opening couple of rounds. The defensive tactics paid off since Holly couldn't do anything when the Victoria's Secret stalwart eventually kicked into a higher gear and began to make her offensive moves count. And that's been Valance's problem for the last few years. She can't put the power down when it matters and runs out of steam during the otherwise preferred slugging drill. Five years ago she went hammer & tongs against another Lioness member Odette Yustman for over 25 minutes and tonight she got mauled by a Yustman-clone aka another small lightweight. Holly might look for genuine free agents if she wants to snap her lousy losing streak anytime soon.

Meanwhile it's all smiles for Lily who bunny hops in the Lioness corner together with coach Claudia Schiffer. It's like a Disney party over there but one can't blame the VS stalwart whose boxing career on the local market is yet to really take off. She ignores the banged up Valance who gets escorted back to the opposite corner and grabs the announcer's mic to tell the world she wants Eiza Gonzalez next! The fact Anllela Sagra has risen to the Ice Hotel glory lately has apparently ruffled some feathers around the league. Erin Andrews believes that while the likes of Strahovski and Winstead are way above Aldridge's level, neither Gonzalez nor even Sagra can feel safe if they're officially on her radar.

Final result: Lily Aldridge def. Holly Valance KO6.
