4. Emily DiDonato vs Kelly Rohrbach (Lightweight)

Emily:
(28 years old, 5’10”, 14-5 with 13 KO since 2017, Fates Boxing)

Kelly:
(29 years old, 5’9”, 20-11 with 19 KO since 2016, VIXENs)

BEFORE:
The middle match tonight features two Sports Illustrated models who are taking their talents into the ring. While both women note their shared past at Sports Illustrated and note that they respect their opponent, both women proudly explain why their opponent is no match for them.

“Emily’s been on a hot streak, don’t get me wrong,” Kelly says, “But tonight, she matches up with someone who can hang with her in terms of power and has more experience than she does. And besides, do I need to remind everyone of what happened the last time Emily fought a blonde SI model?”

Emily’s response is measured, but biting nonetheless, “Kelly has shown herself to be quite the competitor, but she’s in my way tonight. Just because her name is more well known than mine is that doesn’t mean that I can’t knock her out.”

Come fight time, the crowd is waiting with bated breath as this is arguably one of the matches that the crowd is looking forward to the most. Emily DiDonato is the first to emerge from the back, striding to the ring with her robe on and her hair up in a bun. Once the brunette steps into the ring, the Fates staff takes off her robe to reveal a purple bikini set underneath and with matching purple gloves. Once Emily is settled in the ring, Kelly steps out in a classic white bikini with red gloves, her hair in a ponytail for the match. The two women stare at each other as the ref gives final instructions before the two touch gloves.

ROUND 1:
The two models begin the match by circling each other, each woman trying to get a sense for her opponent. DiDonato and Rohrbach don’t seem in a rush to get this match going as they take their time jabbing at the other until Emily creeps closer to Kelly and feints with a right, distracting Kelly and clocking her with a left to the face. The blonde fighter is stunned and the brunette moves in closer to Kelly and starts peppering her body with rights and lefts. DiDonato is working Rohrbach around the ring as Kelly struggles to find her footing, and Emily coerces the blonde into the ropes. Once Rohrbach’s in the ropes it’s as though she finally understands that she’s in a fight and lands two punches to Emily’s mouth, but DiDo comes right back to Rohrbach’s nose and Kelly is forced to clinch as her nose begins to trickle blood. Once the referee separates the two women, Emily looks to pick up where she left off and gets some solid blows in, but Kelly is responding with punches of her own now, although Emily is still in control of the round until the bell. The two women go back to their respective corners and the judges announce that Emily takes the opening round on points, wide.

ROUND 2:
DiDonato and Rohrbach come bouncing out of their corners and Emily starts with the jabs, making some good contact on Kelly with the blonde seemingly unable to answer. DiDonato starts upping the tempo and she throws a big right that Rohrbach dodges and then plows a left into the brunette’s solar plexus and then straightens her out with a powerful right that nearly drops Emily, and now Kelly is the one dictating the pace of the round. Blonde girl darting in and out of Emily’s range, popping her face with well-placed punches around Emily’s guard. DiDo looks to counterpunch but she’s not able to make the contact that she wants and Kelly isn’t giving her much time to get her offense working again as the blonde keeps up the pressure. Emily keeping her gloves up and forcing Kelly to go after her body, and my oh my does Kelly go after the brunette’s body, hammering lefts and rights into Em’s ribs. Emily backs off from Kelly and when the blonde closes distance, Emily connects with a right that halts Kelly’s offense and the bell rings. Rohrbach looking relieved as she goes back to the VIX corner after the round as she equalizes with Emily by taking the round on points, wide.

ROUND 3:
Emily looking to stymie Kelly’s offense as they start the second round and trades blows with the blonde right out of the gates. Both women looking to do some serious damage to their opponent as they both alternate haymakers. Kelly starts focusing on Emily’s body, trying to capitalize on the punishment that she dealt the brunette in the previous round while Emily’s looking to get blows in on Kelly’s head. Both women are landing plenty of their punches, but Emily is able to take Kelly’s body shots and she starts finding Kelly’s chin consistently and the blonde has no choice but to back off and get her guard up. Emily getting her powerful punches going and hammering the blonde, changing her focus from Rohrbach’s head to her body as she works the blonde’s body into the ropes. Kelly stays strong though and gets her own punches going into Emily’s right side, but she is forced to clinch as the brunette is just connecting with too many punches. Kelly keeps her distance until the end of the round and at the bell is clearly frustrated that Emily was able to win the round on points.

ROUND 4:
The two models are settling in as the fourth round gets underway and Emily looks to continue the third round but Kelly is having none of it. The blonde rifles a punch into Emily’s mouth in response to Emily’s opening salvo and backing away before Emily can respond. DiDonato may be a strong competitor but she only recently became a top lightweight while Rohrbach has been a top lightweight for much longer. Kelly turns to a hit and run strategy and starts racking up the punches as Emily never knows when Rohrbach will strike or how, all she knows is that she will. Kelly getting in good clear shots and while Emily does get some punches back in return, she ultimately always has to bend to the blonde’s desires. Towards the end of the round, DiDonato tracks Rohrbach’s dart and places two quick punches into her body, but can’t capitalize when the blonde ducks under the brunette’s punches before punching her in the stomach and knocking her into the ropes as the bell rings. It’s a seesaw match with Emily and Kelly trading rounds on points, wide, as Kelly picks up the fourth.

ROUND 5:
Emily is determined to get back after Kelly that she is over aggressive and leaves herself exposed when she lunges a little bit at her opponent, but Kelly takes notice and nails a left right above Emily’s eye and then a right into her chest. Rohrbach slings a left at DiDonato as the brunette is taking a beating, but the Fates fighter is able to duck the punch at the last minute. Emily backs off and resets. The two women briefly look to exchange jabs until Kelly bobs to her right and sticks a left into Emily’s face. Emily recoils as Kelly again gets the better of her and plugs leather into the younger model’s body. Rohrbach is dialed in as she starts to pound DiDonato’s body and dodging the brunette’s blows. Kelly shifts her attention up to Emily’s head as the blonde feints with her left – and Emily crashes in a left of her own to Kelly’s jaw, momentarily stunning the blonde! DiDo flashes forwards, her gloves plowing into Kelly as the bell rings. The referee steps in and separates the two women to prevent any blows after the bell and sends the two models to their corners. The judges award the round to Kelly, close, thanks to her early aggression.

ROUND 6:
The two Sports Illustrated models emerge from their corner confidently as they enter the second half of the match, with neither woman showing signs of slowing down. DiDonato connects with a strong straight right out of the gates and Rohrbach struggles to find a response as on comes DiDo. The brunette model picks apart the blonde’s guard as she hammers punches into Kelly body and around her guard, driving her back into the ropes where Emily keeps Kelly as she lays on the hurt to Kelly’s ribs and body, driving the air out of the blonde’s lungs. Rohrbach desperately looking for a counter but she can’t find one under DiDo’s onslaught and she practically throws herself onto Emily to clinch. Once the referee breaks the two women apart, Kelly keeps her distance, but Emily starts to get her jab working and tags Kelly in the face multiple times. Rohrbach gets some counterpunches in, but all in all, Emily is outslugging Kelly and it shows as at the end of the round, Kelly’s ribs are turning red from the punishment Emily dealt during the round, and the brunette unsurprisingly walks away with the round on points, wide.

ROUND 7:
Kelly winces slightly as she gets up from her stool to start the seventh, and Emily knows that she wore Kelly down last round and wastes no time in going after her body again. DiDo quickly closes the distance and pounds leather into every exposed inch of legal flesh that she can find on Rohrbach’s body as the blonde tries to connect with a response that registers some pain to her opponent. Kelly groaning as she takes blow after blow, but she is keeping her guard up and preventing Emily from smacking the blonde’s head with powerful punches. DiDonato is driving Rohrbach around the ring when the VIX fighter sets her feet and launches a haymaker – that Emily dodges and punishes with a booming punch through where Rohrbach’s guard would have been! Kelly is staggered and Emily pounces, battering the blonde’s jaw with left and right hooks until Kelly goes down! It’s a knockdown for Emily as the brunette prances to the corner and the referee start to count. One. Kelly is moving her head around. Two. Three. Rohrbach looks up and shakes her head. Four. Five. Kelly is trying to get her arms underneath her, but they’re buckling! Six. Seven. Kelly is desperately trying to get herself up off the canvas while Emily stays laser-focused on her blonde opponent. Eight. Nine. Rohrbach is on all fours. Ten – Kelly can’t beat the count. Your winner by KO7, Emily DiDonato!

AFTER:
Emily smiling as her hand is raised and then poses a bit for the crowd after her gloves are removed before going over and checking in on Kelly. The two women bump fists and then DiDonato makes her exit, raising her hands as she leaves the ring.

Emily DiDonato evening out the scoreboards with a dominant victory over Kelly Rohrbach tonight, meaning Fates Boxing battles back into contention for the crown. This stable war just got interesting!
