BEFORE:
Minaj certainly holds a reputation for being a 'professional' in the ring, if her past matches are anything to go on. This might make it the only match of the night without both girls trying to tear each other’s heads off!

“You know what? I respect Ms Winnick for getting in the ring with me tonight. I’m not trying’ to dig at her age or anything. Just pure respect, woman, for doing what ‘yer doing at your age. Win or lose, I’d say we’re gonna have one hell of a fight tonight, and a damn good party after…But in that ring, it’s all business, and ya’ll know I’m here to win.”

Katheryn certainly has had her mixed successes in the ring thus far, recently falling to Priya Chopra in what's quickly looking like a nauseating rollercoaster ride for her fans. Facing Nicki Minaj so soon after that disappointment, however, is just more testament to her fighting spirit and resolve to do better and better in the ring. What's more, hearing from the blonde, there are *other* reasons why this match is taking place tonight:

“Me and Nicki here both have some beef with Kim Kardashian, as you all probably know,” she chuckles. “So, congrats on beating her, Nicki. I'll hopefully get my own revenge soon. As for tonight…” She turns her attention back to the audience. “My last fight against Chopra didn’t go as planned for me and Nicki will be a serious test for me. I'm sure she hits even harder than Kardashian or Chopra, and I've been having some trouble with these kinds of fighters lately. But I've also been working seriously hard on my defense and movement, and I'm confident that I'll be able to show that tonight. Nicki was on a nine-fight win streak just few years ago… she seems tough as nails, and there’s no doubt she knows what she's doing in that ring. I'm going to have to be at my best to take her down, and that's exactly what I plan on doing tonight. Still, I wish her good luck." Let's just hope Ms Winnick’s words are backed up by her actions tonight.

Its fight time, and Winnick is out first wearing her usual black and white sports bra and short tights fight gear. White and black boxing gloves on her hands with her blonde hair in a neat braided bun. Winnick is all smiles as she is greeted with wild cheers, the fans doing their best to help the beloved blonde bounce back tonight from her previous disappointing loss. Waving to the fans as she makes her way to the ring accompanied by Carmen Electra, Kristanna Loken and crew, Katheryn climbs in and jogs to her corner where she begins her warm up routine.

Next out is Nicki Minaj, the popular singer has a surprising amount of fans in attendance as the noise levels rival those Katheryn enjoyed just moments ago. Minaj is clad in a sexy black robe with gold trims, covering most of her body, except for her black boxing gloves, her black hair in a long ponytail.
The curvaceous singer makes her way to the ring followed by her entourage, one fist raised high above her head, clearly all-business and focused on her mission tonight as she keeps a straight face all the way to the ring. Climbing in, she strides towards the center of the ring and unrobes to reveal a sexy metallic gold bra and long black sports tights. The crowd cheers and whistles in response and Minaj for the first time allows herself a small smirk before making her way to her corner where she begins her pre-fight warm up routine.

For once, we wish both women the best of luck for this match-up, and we can safely say that both women feel the same way towards one another. Referee goes through final countdown preparations and here we go, with ten rounds of Bantamweight action!

ROUND 1:
It certainly makes a difference when both competitors don't want to rip each other’s faces off. Both Nicki and Kat starting this dance off to a slow tune as they step forward not in any rush to bite. Occasional jabs taken on the guard as both of them overly cautious to start with, but towards the middle, more prominent differences start to be obvious: Nicki eager to brawl as she crowds the blonde’s space, occasional hook to the head keeping her on her toes. It’s quite well-known that Minaj has the power capability to knock many a girl out like a light, and with Winnick wanting to build that same reputation, this is certainly an interesting contrast of styles. Katheryn however not taking her bait, keeping her distance and surprisingly relying on her long jab for the majority of this round, which enables her to actually score points aplenty with Nicki fighting a different game. Kat takes the round wide as a result, giving her renewed hope of a win.

ROUND 2:
Well, two can play at that game, and Nicki quickly learning her lesson by staying out of range and letting the blonde come to get her instead. While they’re not throwing hooks any longer, Minaj’s experience in the ring proving the deciding factor in this round, out-boxing Winnick from afar by having an excellent guard deflecting any danger, then firing back jabs of her own into Kat’s stunned face. It seems like the blonde still has plenty to learn and Nicki the one taking her to school. Winnick managing some scoring of blows to the tummy and chest, but none as significant, especially when compared to the sheer volume of punches she takes instead. Winnick almost driven to the ropes at the end of the three minutes, where thankfully the bell rings, leaving her breathing hard with reddened skin all over her face.

ROUND 3:
Nicki not playing around these two rounds, the American songstress backing her words up from before: she might admire the blonde for what she’s doing, but hell that doesn't mean she’s gonna go easy on her. Winnick finding that reality out the hard way when Nicki kicks her aggression up a notch, starts with a flurry of quick jabs but follows up with big swishes at her face, most of it landing on Kat’s guard but enough to scar and scare her to retreat. Winnick trying to rally in the second, striding forward with a powerful straight hand down the middle of Nicki’s guard, but the burly singer stands her ground, absorbing the blow, then immediately follows up with a SWOOSH to the right of her own, catching Winnick CLEAN on the face! UUGGHH!! Winnick goes stumbling right, tripping over herself on the way down as she lands hard on her knees! KNOCKDOWN for Minaj!!

Not a good sign indeed at this third round knockdown, Kat’s resurgence going quickly up in smoke the moment her knees touched the ground. Thankfully though she’s fully conscious, quickly crawling to the ropes with the intent to right this embarrassing wrong, as the referee slowly counts her out. Nicki calmly staring at her from neutral corner, fully aware that there's still plenty of fight left in her and this ain’t over. And true enough, she manages to recover by the count of 7!

Referee waves to continue and that's the cue for Minaj to charge! No amount of good feelings is gonna save her this time. Kat covering up on the ropes, weathering a couple of stiff shots to the tummy, but thereafter she manages to make it outta there before Nicki can inflict some real damage. Last few seconds and we see the American trying to chase after her, to no avail. We won't lie and say this was a fantastic round for Winnick - she needs to dig deep and find a viable strategy going forward.

ROUND 4:
Start of the fourth and girls spend some time catching their breaths. An ordinary girl would have barreled straight for Winnick to try and finish her off, but this is Minaj we’re talking about, and she wisely bides her time looking to see how bad the Doll is injured. Kat in no shape to charge forward either, and the first minute sees that lack of action similar to the very first minute of the fight. Once again however it’s Nicki with the early aggression, trying to push her luck with more combos fired Kat’s way. This time though Winnick is ready, holds her arms firmly over to absorb the shots, then STUNS Nicki right back with a big right hand down the middle! OUCH for Minaj as her face disappears fast into that leather. She’s suddenly in trouble here, forced to retreat, with Kat now the one chasing after her. But Nicki makes it to the safety of the ropes when the bell rings whilst Kat is still in mid-charge. The Dollhouse starlet skids to a halt as she’s forced to reign herself in, clearly disappointed at missing the chance to finish her off.

ROUND 5:
Things looking up for the blonde all of a sudden, but hey, we’ve always been cautiously optimistic about Kat’s chances in the ring. We sincerely think the blonde deserves better instead of this topsy-turvy 50-50 chance of sometimes winning, sometimes not. We can see that Kat agrees with our assessment as she starts picking off where she left off. Nicki all of a sudden in damage control mode as she can’t stop the blonde from advancing on her, and no amount of death-threat hooks flung in her direction seem to stop her now. Kat avoiding Nicki’s punches with a swerve back here, to the side there, then slaps a hook of her own into Minaj’s face in between, dazing her more. Nicki growling as she’s beaten backwards whilst at the same time her wild punches growing more and more erratic. It’s enough of an opening for Winnick to wade in - she avoids another overhand swing, then swivels her own torso for maximum power as she sends a right fist UP into Nicki’s jawline!! AND DOWN SHE GOOOOEESSSS!! NICKI COMPLETELY CRUMPLING AT THE END OF THAT EXCHANGE, now lying there motionless and not making any move to recover. It’s over!!

Official Decision: Katheryn Winnick defeats Nicki Minaj via KO5!

AFTER:
A big win for Kathryn’s self-esteem here as she once again beats an established and strong fighter in Minaj. Girls remaining civil towards one another post-fight, with Kat immediately making her way over to Nicki in order to help her up. She manages to sit up but she still looks groggy, a medical team already by her side and checking for any serious bruising.

Later, Kathryn can’t help but smile when reporters approach her to ask how she’s feeling about her win here tonight.

“Of course I’m happy. But I do feel bad for Nicki - she really put everything into that fight and managed to test me. Though I’d say that I would have done exactly the same thing if I were in her shoes. We both gave it our best without needing to get personal, and that’s the way it should be. Well, most of the time.” She winks.

We can only cross our fingers that Ms Winnick remains this positive in all her future fights. It’s rare that the nice girl comes out on top in this arena, but in this case, we’re glad that both of them have managed to hold their heads up high, with Winnick sharing a rare moment of sportsmanship when she embraces Nicki post-fight, raising her hand to celebrate their combined performance tonight.
