ODETTE YUSTMAN VS ROSAMUND PIKE

Results: Lookout Writing: Archer

Odette: 33 YO, 5’8 ½ (1.74 m), 35-19-1, 28 KO since 2008, Lioness Club of America

Rosamund: 39 YO, 5’9 (1.75 m), FCBA: 1-6-0, 1 KO since 2013, Foxfire Atlantic Boxing

Before: Odette and Rosamund speak to the press in the pre-fight. The pair have seen a good deal of celebrity boxing action over the years, but they seem as eager to go at each other as two rookies.

“I will acknowledge that my record in this federation is not what I would like,” says Rosamund. “I fear I was a bit late in getting here, but I have learned it takes only one good win to turn everything around. Odette here is just the sort of person I would love to defeat. She would give me instant credibility and allow me to restart my boxing career with an upset victory.”

“It is always nice to be considered the favorite in a bout, but it is also a challenge: you don’t want to be on the wrong side of an upset win. I agree with Rosamund: Beating me would be great way for her to get attention. Sadly for her, I have no intention of letting that happen. I like fighting a motivated opponent, one who is desperate for a win—and then snatch that dream away. It may sound cruel, but I would be less than honest if I didn’t admit I enjoy the feeling.”

Rosamund frowns: “Now just a moment-I never said I was ‘desperate’ for a win.”

Odette smiled: “You didn’t have to, Your record screams it for you. One win in 7 tries. I would think that would make anyone feel desperate for that second win. Now admit it: you do feel desperate, don’t you?”

Rosamund’s cheeks show red circles of anger: “You have no right to speak to me like that. I have been perfectly civil to you”

“I am just stating the plain facts. If you don’t like them: see what you can do about it in the ring. I think you will be disappointed—again.” Odette replied coolly.

“I shall take the greatest pleasure in punching those words down your throat. See you in the ring, Ms, Yustman, You will regret your rudeness.”

“I doubt that,” Odette replied, “but I do look forward to seeing you in the ring.”

The ill-will between Odette and Rosamund still seems strong as the two meet in the ring for their bout. Odette in a black sports bra and bikini knickers with a LCA logo on back of the knickers in gold and on both bra cups. Golden gloves and boots with black laces. Dark hair in a battle braid down her back. Rosamund in pink sports bra with faux-lacy black bikini knickers. Black gloves and boots with pink laces. Blonde pulled back in a battle braid. Two opponents looking at each other cold expressions during the ring instructions, but they keep their tempers and soon are back in their corners. The bell rings.

R1: Rosamund moving quickly to try to dominate Odette. Hard, fast jabs to the face have the younger fighter covering up. Rosamund smacks the Yustman noggin a few times to keep Odette ducking, but soon attacks to the body. Odette struck hard in the belly with rising hooks, then her ribs are raked with criss-crossing rights and lefts. Odette soon hunched up, trying to push out some counters to get Rosamund back, but the British veteran hanging in and now she’s working over Odette’s breasts with side to side lefts and rights then straight rights and lefts to crush Odette’s mammaries in their bra cups. Odette not looking happy as she tries to put some breathing room between herself and the aggressive Rosamund, but Rosamund keeps the pressure on to the bell. The older fighter smiling as she knows she’s won this round wide.

R2: Odette much more aggressive this stanza as she goes right for Rosamund’s chin and flips it back with some nasty right/left uppies that send a shudder down Rosamund’s legs. Now Odette going to the belly to double the retreating Rosemund up with deep hooks into the stomach meat. Rosamund trying to back away to reorganize, but Odette now trying to herd her into the ropes. Rosamund gets her jab going to slow Odette up, but then the LCA fighter starts circling and firing hard ones into Rosamund’s torso. Rosamund struggling to keep off the ropes, but she is taking a whacking as she fights to stand her ground. Odette is slowly using Rosamund back and adds a vengeful pounding of the Pike puppies. Rosamund gasping under the jugg mugging, but mainting a slow, fighting retreat to the bell. Rosamund looking busted up around the face and is breathing hard. Odette giving her steely-eyed look. Round goes to Odette Yustman—wide.

R3: Odette attacking boldly this round. She charges right in and tries to bang her way through Rosamund’s defensive gloves. Rosamund keeping calmly under pressure and starts using the jab to pound Odette in the face. Odette trying to wade through the jab, but now Rosamund is bobbing and weaving to make her head a harder target. Odette keeps trying again and again. She’s really getting lumped up now, but won’t be discouraged. She is clearly looking to knock Rosamund Pike out. Rosamund looking very good as she breaks up the attacks. Then she stuns Odette with a lashing right to jaw that spins her head so that her braid slaps across her face! Odette’s head comes back—INTO A ROSMUND PIKE RIGHT UPPERCUT TO THE CHIN! KA-POW! DOWN GOES ODETTE! Crowd roars in excitement as a limp Odette Yustman drops in a heap to the canvas and Rosamund Pike heads for the neutral corner. Heartstopping seconds for LCA and Odette Yustman fans as their favorite tries desperately to get back on her. She nearly falls back down at one point, but catches herself and stands erect as the referee counts “NINE!” Official looks Odette over to make sure she can continue. Odette makes it fiercely clear that is can and the ref waves Rosamund back in. Odette may be determined to continue, but she is prudent enough to be on a tight defense the rest of this round. Rosamund pounds away on the outside, but there will be no more knockdowns as the round ends. However Rosamund has won the round wide and put on the canvas. Odette looking bruised and bloody around the face, but makes an effort to walk back to her corner with as firm a step as she can manage.

R4: Odette worked on by the LCA corner crew as Trainer Claudia Schiffer speaks quietly with her fighter. Odette need nodding with a serious look on her face. Rosamund all smiles during break as she confers with lightweight trainer Rachel Nichols, Bell sounds. Rosamund and Odette both quickly out of their corners. Odette strikes first with hooks to the belly. Rosamund stopped with the grunt as she is tipped forward. Rosamund lashing out with the jab, but Odette stepping to draw Rosamund off –balance. Then Odette fires a crashing right into the side of Rosamund;’s head. Rosamund knocked to one side, stumbles into the ropes, but starts to turn back. BANG! Odette has followed and catches Rosamund under the chin with a monster right uppercut! Rosamund shoots up and back into the ropes. She bounces off as Odette steps aside to let Rosamund crash forward onto the canvas. Odette coolly steps over her fallen foe and walks to the neutral corner. Referee moves in. Rosamund does stir and lifts her head, but she spits her out her mouthpiece then slumps back down to wetly suck canvas as the referee finishes the formalities:

“NINE!...TEN!...YOU’RE OUT!”

THE WINNER BY KO4 ODETTE YUSTMAN DEFEATS ROSAMUND PIKE!

After: “Rosamund was lucky,” Odette insists to the press concerning that R3 knockdown, “and I admit I was careless to let her land a punch like that. It didn’t stop for long. My trainer told me Rosamund might be overconfident and I could get her back in R4. I sure did, didn’t I? It is always great to win and especially when it leaves your opponent a lump on the canvas.” (She chuckles at that).

Rosamund Pike is not available that night for comment as she taken away from precautionary medical tests. However the next glumly tells Archer News reporter Skip Tracey:

“I thought when I got that knockdown I was going to win that fight. Then in the next round I am the one flat on her face in defeat. I won’t disguise my disappointment. It’s going to be long flight back to the UK. I best get started on my way now.”

Two impressive knockdown highlighted this fight. However Odette Yustman got up off the canvas and went on to flatten Rosamund Pike. Rosamund was counted out and added another painful defeat to her FCBA record. Meanwhile Odette has a confidence builder she can work from and see how far she can work her way up the Lightweight Division ladder.
