3. Keira Knightley vs Lea Seydoux (Bantamweight)

Keira:
(33, 5’7, 16:26:2 FCBA, Mirage Boxing)
Lea:
(32, 5’6, 9:6 FCBA, Latin Union)

BEFORE:
Keira laughing at a joke she made at the pre-fight press conference, looking absolutely relaxed and body in pristine fighting shape.

“I feel great,” she grins from side-to-side. “Even after that loss against Emilia, I feel that I put in my best effort that night, really. I think I’ll fare better against some washed up Frenchwoman, at least”

Lea of course *isn’t* some washed up Frenchwoman. The former Bantamweight champion is rolling her eyes at the insinuation that she is, cutting in with that thick French-accent that’s synonymous with sexy.

“Pu-leaze. Keir-ah thinks she iz the best in the world now? I beg to differ. There’z a reaz-on she’s got a lopsided win-lozz record that’s more crook-ed than the Eiffel Tower!”

“Well then, let’s go right now, la femme nikita! I can’t wait to bust your nose in.”

Keira equally inflamed as she scrapes her chair back and stands, causing Lea to do the same and make a few steps towards one another. But they’re stopped mid-track, to the disappointment of the crowd, who wanted to see some classic cross-channel catfighting before the night was out.

Instead, girls are herded to the ring where they get ready with fight-wear: Keira in grey sports bra, white boxing shorts and red gloves, whilst Lea in sultry pink bra and panties set, black gloves to round off that seductress-look. Referee rings the bell and here we go with ten rounds of Bantamweight action!

ROUND 1:

Determined look on girls’ faces as we start this international match up. Keira and Lea poking consistently enough, scoring punches into the chin and cheek but unwilling to commit 100% this early. Instead, either girl relying on their long jab and targeting the head whilst circling. It’s a good display of skill from both of them, showing why they’re equally considered some of the best championship material out there. Look of mutual respect as we close this opening round, with both girls grinning at each other as the bell rings and accepting a well-deserved draw in points.

ROUND 2:
That mutual respect flies out the window though in the second when Lea scores a jab-jab-hook combo straight to Keira’s face early on, stunning her good. Keira suddenly blurry-eyed from the stinging pain, forced to back away on instinct. Lea shooting a couple of punches after her, but doesn’t bother chasing her the full extent either - she knows she’s got this round in her own bag, with Keira forced on the defensive and automatically backing away with her guard up. All downhill for Knightley for the rest of this round, with Lea strategically keeping up the pressure and chasing her across the ring and back, but never putting herself in any real danger by forcing a foolish mistake. Lea taking the round for herself by wide margin, to the cheers of her fans who’ve made it all the way across the Atlantic.

ROUND 3:
Lea continuing her dominance early into the third, hounding the head with constant punching and shooting, and not giving Keira any breathing space. She must have heard the legends of Knightley’s glassjaw - her body giving her excellent stamina but as always, her head her weak area, evident from the plenty of early and earned knockouts on Keira’s resume. However, this time she’s not about to be put away so easily, swinging back and trying to put a stamp of her own on the proceedings. In the process, however, the Brit gets a little reckless, burying a left and right into Lea’s sides, but gets herself CAUGHT with an errant hook to the side of the face, sending her flying off to the ropes from the impact! ROAR from the fans and HERR Lea comes marching forward, more deliberate hands sent packing up into Keira’s body as she’s rocked senseless on the ropes… She’s running into similar trouble trying to escape the inevitable… Lea swinging away at the guard, SNAGS another hook to the face which forces Keira DOWN to canvas! What an early KNOCKDOWN for Lea Seydoux!

Keira with a flabbergasted look on her face, struggling to make sense of the bright lights and loud noises reverberating through her head and vision. She’s trying to recover at least, but that right hook certainly shocking her enough to make her lose her bearings as she stands. Seydoux with that confident French grin back in corner, puckering her lips as Keira manages to regain her balance by the count of 7 and firming the advantage clearly in foreign territory.

ROUND 4:
Lea finally putting her foot on the pedal, moving faster than before. Impressive, given she still has the stamina at her age when we’re so far into the round. Keira looking like she’s in trouble early in the first minute, fending off more jabs and barely keeping herself from stumbling off into the ropes when another right hook catches her on the forearms and wobbles. But nope - the Brit catching herself quickly, back springing off the ropes then using her footwork to establish some much needed distance. Lea still coming at her in straight line, but Knightley at least making her work for each step forward. Steady stream of punches now landing on the Lea’s face and guard, forcing her to slow her advance. Keira still backtracking, but at least she’s not found lost on the ropes like last time. Bell rings and hell - we think the Englishwoman actually took this round for herself by the slimmest of margins!

ROUND 5:
More back-and-forth action as the two of them continue to press their advantage. Lea at least confident enough with a knockdown to her name, boldy pressing forward. She’s punching at Keira’s head, then the body with long jabs. Knightley taking a lot of punishment on those abs of hers, the constant pounding starting to turn her skin pink. But she’s choosing to cover her head up instead, manages to score quite a few stiff hands back into Seydoux’s pretty face as counter-revenge exploitation of her open defence. Lea starting to lose her cool by contrast, gritting those pearly whites each time Knightley scars the cheek with a quick combo or makes her wince in pain with a throbbing snap jab to the nostrils. She sees another opening and takes it, THUDDING a left-right combo consequently into Keira’s sides, relishing the grunt uttered from her lips. But she doesn’t expect the quick counter-attack from the Brit: Keira just taking the abuse, then stepping in with a BIG uppercut sent up into the chin: SNAPS the head back, sending Lea flying! Loud groan from the former champ’s lips as her eyes squeeze shut and arms and legs go flying into the wind. She lands with a THUDD with her back on canvas, and STAYS there, not moving! Referee counting her out one second at a time to the ROARING cheers and protests of the crowd. He hits the 10-count and this fight is OVER!

Official Decision: Keira Knightley defeats Lea Seydoux via KO5!

AFTER:

Wow! Not everyday you see Lea Seydoux flat on her back, ladies and gents! Her porcelain-like face laid out cold as her chest rises and falls with steady rhythm. She’s knocked out, all right!

Many pundits in attendance were worried for a while back there, especially questioning Keira’s credentials after her loss to Emilia Clarke just weeks ago. None of that bad luck here tonight though, with Knightley beaming to all four corners, celebrating with both arms up high.

Lea stirring after a while, mouth working in disbelief, being attended to by her corner and medics as she tries and process what went wrong tonight. She was undoubtedly the favourite fighter in this contest, but hey, stranger things have happened.

The two girls barely share a glance and mutual nod of respect before being ushered out of the ring, already promising an unspoken rematch the moment the opportunity becomes available. We can’t wait!
