Before: Righetti continues her thorough attack on the supermodel world – Danish-born beauty Josephine Skriver will be her sixth opponent this year hailing from this particular group of foes, and only the current welterweight champion Tahnee Atkinson didn’t end the night at Righetti’s feet. “I move with the times,” Righetti says. “Of course, it’s an entirely different environment than just a few years back, but if folks are paying to see these girls, I’ll happily oblige and kick their butts over the ring. I’m excited about meeting an undefeated BBU girl, too, I really am. I’m curious to see what she brings to the ring.” – Skriver’s a BBU fighter on a seven-bout winning streak, and undefeated to date to boot. Outside established top fighters like Upton or Atkinson, Righetti’s been pretty dominant against the lesser tier of swimsuit models this year (Strijd, Bock) – can Skriver hold her own? “Well, let me say that I appreciate the chance,” Josephine announces pre-fight, all smirks, all pretty confidence. “2018’s shown that it’s premature to write off Big Rigs, but of course, Karlie, Hannah, Tahnee have blazed the trail to get this chick beat in a way we haven’t seen in the past. Those are my role models. That’s what I want to do in the ring versus Amanda. Now I need to deliver.” During weigh-in, pre-fight press conference, Righetti’s her usual unfazed self at the media craze and Skriver’s model trademark confidence…strong handshake, self-assertive, broad-shouldered demeanor are her weapons against all the leggy extravagance as she meets Josephine body-to-body, Skriver’s slim, lanky frame a pretty visible three inches taller.
R1: Skriver hoppin’, steppin’ away from Righetti’s jab early – she’s got the left working, but usually leans back when she’s throwing it from back foot, arching torso, her reach helping her plenty. ‘Manda’s stance loose, supple, her legs always moving, trying to get big on model…she’s pumping jabs, crosses via the left toward Skriver’s neck, head, swerving crossways from Josie’s large, drifting left hands to explode into short, mean chops from both hands to Skriver’s delicate mid-section, ribs, rack. Skriver as fast-legged, whirlwind-y as expected…her six-foot-ish frame oscillating, head twitching…she’s legs legs legs as she’s taking turns, twisting around ‘Manda’s broader, more compact torso, her hands loosening into rat-a-tat swirls around Righetti’s head. Redhead remains patient, forming a tight guard, strong stance against Josie’s swirling punchwork, then getting right back it via dropping jabs to blonde tits, right hooks to paunch, swatting right hands toward the Dane’s face. Thick power punching increasingly batters Josie onto her heels from mid-round…down the stretch, she’s getting halted by Big Rigs for more punishment, no longer whirling out as effectively. Smooth straight right to cheek, Righetti! Skriver falters, tilting into body clinch, her wide arms draping, trying to push redhead off, lean her right shoulder into close, rising uppercuts to Righetti’s jaw…Amanda’s having none of it inside, grappling underneath Josephine’s arms, heaves her into ropes, hard lefts ramming into Skriver’s tummy, ribs before ref jumps in to separate. Bell: Righetti upbeat, her pressure working on leggy blonde in wide round – Skriver’s reach only helpful in closer first minute, then mostly getting clipped to guard, head, fighting on backheels.
R2: Drawing board formula unchanged for Skriver: get Righetti at the end of a strong, six-footer’s jab poke, work and punish her from there. Range starts working in blonde’s favour now, some well-dosed lefty sneak punches to ‘Manda’s nose, mouth holding welter legend in respectful distance, Josie’s preferred range. Skriver’s upping own jab tempo to defend the range now, as she needs to stay active and on top against foe. Similar images across the ring: Righetti on her toes, oscillating, her right hand at cheek, left in motion, looking to strike out – Skriver negotiating, timing her jabs to ‘Manda’s attacks. Righetti getting caught some – Josephine’s jab counters reach her first, poking ‘er nicely across the tits, mouth, right cheek. Amanda grunts, hopping out to regroup, then wading back in…and she’s getting clipped again! Skriver’s really effective across full round via the looooong lefty jab, her wide-reaching torso putting surprising power into her lithe punches. Skriver’s fans in the audience ooohing, aaahing Josie’s every whirlwind punch as if she’s kicking Righetti’s butt – there’s no sign of stagger in ‘Manda’s legs, stance, but she spends the round where Josie wants her: at the end of a six-footer’s jab poke. Not a shutout, but it’s Skriver doing the punching, and she can lay claim to a wide round on the cards.
R3: Working formula wakes further confidence in perky blonde model – she’s still working from that bendy, always-in-motion stance, timing jabs to an increasingly grumpy Righetti there on the outside, but now she’s switching ‘em up some. Straights thru the middle to ‘Manda’s bra, some leaned-in hooks across her gut, dare-me rights towards the guard/face. At the end of minute one, Righetti’s actually been urged into compact, defensive positions – a wide-eyed Josie’s walking ‘er down now! Jab, jab leading, buttering Amanda’s busy guard…blonde girl erupts into wide, swinging haymakers across Rigs’ left, whop! ‘Manda bobbing on the spots, taking them some, then directing her short, shrugging right hands to Skriver’s ribs, rack. Vicious left to mouth, Skriver, her long arm reaching out from outside range, as Righetti pedals out late! Second minute winding down…Josephine steps inside, socking lefts and rights, lefts and rights, bashing punches against smaller Righetti’s skull/arms, actually driving her backward…’Manda shifts a step right, answering with a timed lefty straight, shuffling it thru Josie’s mitts! Skriver’s head snaps guu-uh, has her looking momentarily disoriented, and Righetti hammers her the left uppercut to the right jawline! ‘Manda wanders out instead of piling the pressure on, then marches back in: some thumping, muscular jabs from Righetti now, as Skrivers slides, turns back, blocking via the left arm. Down the stretch, no accumulating momentum from Big Rigs…girls wind down into rangy, careful, step-a-step battle instead, lots of feinting, blocking…comeback from Amanda not enough to steal Josie’s round late.
R4: Righetti much more aggressive outta the gate…jabs to rack, jabs to ribs, jabs to neck…Skriver’s trading-with her, counter-leaning into some wide righty hooks, trying to keep ‘Manda at arm’s length via the effective, poking left. Amanda batters away: smashing right hook to Josie’s mouth! Thwacking body uppercut to her biceps/arm! Smooth left uppercut to guard/head! Skriver’s overwhelmed, back-pedalling, clearly a little dizzy…she forms wobbly-butt earmuff, still bobbing elegantly, but walking into Righetti’s relentless poke now. ‘Manda’s work so methodical, effective: bashing blonde arms, tummy, biceps…flashing attrition mill attacks on Skriver’s strength, her lanky athleticism. Skriver essentially shut out of the action this round – there’s just not a lot she can do against Righetti’s powerhouse pressure once she’s stepping on the gas, driving Josie backward via the left, doing damage via the right. Josephine’s legs come into play late, allowing her to move out of ropes, turnbuckles, away from Righetti’s hounding lefts.
R5: Righetti tackles Josephine…jab, jab, right as lead combinations, followed by thumping hooks across the blonde’s flanks, across both sides of her skull. ‘Manda steppin’, hoppin’, then lunges ahead via short, shrug muscular lefts to rack/guard, her right hands sputtering to Josie’s arms/guard on impact. Skriver driven into tight V stance, protecting her head against the barrage, slapping back via flashy palms-down punches up top…Josie staying passive, pressured across minute one, her legs a bit loose-jointed, uncoordinated as she’s concerned with defending her head against Righetti’s buzzing lefts, detonating rights. Calls from camp to “Tie up, tie up, girl!”…Skriver starts to tie up throughout mid-round, draping those strong, lanky arms around ‘Manda’s torso, leaning her 5’11’’ frame forward with authority. Late in minute two: girls in the inside clinch, wigglin’ hips to wigglin’ hips, arms clutching, holding – Skriver tugs, pulls, YANKS the right hand out beneath Righetti’s left arm, shrugs it forward short, nice and succinct between ‘Manda nose/mouth. Whooah! ‘Manda still clutched into the clinch, but looking a little looooose now…she might be hurt! Josie separates, then leaning forward into stiff, short lefties to Righetti’s skull, one two three. Righetti caught clean to her head here, finally back-pedalling with a couple of groans, hands back up where she needs ‘em…Skriver stalks her, walking redhead down! Righetti’s back hits ropes where she stabilizes her legs, counter-motioning a right Skriver uppercut via a short, muscular left hook to Josie’s chest with oomph, finally backing greedy blonde off. Girls in respect of each other now…lots of steppin’ forward, steppin’, back, feinting, pulling back punches as girls march, circle in lock-step until the bell. First time we’ve seen Skriver’s abrupt power in effect tonight…despite Righetti’s strong start, it’s probably enough to lay claim to a close round.
R6: Skriver upbeat, bullish, rotating her torso to whiplash Righetti those wide-reaching lefty jabs to close the range, fetch Amanda into contact…Righetti shirks the wide left pumps, then explodes forward into a flashing left uppercut counter. Skriver trying to heave her head back in time, still gets caught flush to her cheek, whup! Skriver skips back some steps, punched off her firm stance, a little rickety…Righetti steps-with her aggressively, leaning forward into short, brutal hooks detonating to Josie’s guard, arms, making blonde torso shudder on impact. Skriver tilts SLEEPILY into a clinch, wrapping her arms around Righetti’s shoulders, her eyes a little glassy, dreamy. ‘Manda grinds her way forward in irresistible fashion from that point, always bending ahead on separation to SNAP THE JABS TO JOSIE’S PRETTY FACE! The snapped-off, jerk-jolt motion in Righetti’s jabs making them hard to read, devastating Skriver across the sixth round…she’s not anticipating them nor dodging them, her reflexes slowing down, her mitts occasionally punched aside…Josephine’s getting a little rag-dolled here, stumbling backward and getting clipped in whup-whup fashion. Right hands, Righetti! Mostly jab game opens up into gambling, destructive finishing punches from Big Rigs down the stretch…Josie’s back shifted into ropes, her head lolling, torso tipping from side to side, the blonde’s sinewy legs straining with effort to hold supermodel weight. Skriver sticks it out until the bell, guard serviceable, legs operating…she’s a shabby fighter after six, though, sporting cuts above her left eye, splits in her lower and upper lips, cheeks puffy: just too much damage from Righetti’s jabs getting through her mitts.
R7: Righetti forms the ever familiar stance…Skriver no longer managing to deny Amanda range control, mostly on her back foot, feet skipping sideway, backing out, hoping for the odd jab counter. Righetti’s back broad, sweaty as she’s shuttling foot to foot, jolting the lefts to Josephine’s neck, arms, tits, ribs, flanks, battering rights towards blonde face, bludgeoning her way forward. Some two-way trade: Josie using reach to pound back via overhead rights, whizzing haymakers, but once both girls let their fists roll, it’s Josie taking the more substantial hits. Chop-right to blonde left jawline! Hook across the mouth! Bashing straights into tits, solar plexus! Skriver’s lanky, athletic body proves a remarkable stamina and resilience against Righetti’s offense, still tacking, hopping away…’Manda’s forced to dig deeper to get Josie off her feet, regrouping, stalking, pounding into her again. Skriver makes it into the second minute…thick, long, lunging straights bludgeon into blonde’s mid-section…Righetti pulls the left uppercut behind ‘em, Josie tacking her head right, and a miss! ‘Manda presses Josie into ropes via forearm, holding blonde’s left pinned, jolting the short right upside Skriver’s left eye, almost simultaneously dropping a thiiick lefty hook into tummy! Josephine head snaps, as she STAGGERS a step or two to her right alongside ropes until her knees suddenly collapse and she’s down onto all fours – Skriver groans, straining to prop herself up, her hair sweaty, deep heaving breaths in exhaustion. Pretty Dane can’t beat the count despite the effort…she’s STILL on all fours, frozen into paralysis, her head sinking down in bitter disappointment when the ref’s got his count finished, shaking her head….that’s another supermodel down via KO7 Amanda Righetti!
After: Righetti sober, matter-of-factly in her post-fight celebration, making sure Josie’s all right….blonde girl looking stunned post-count, that bitter disappointment of defeat a new sensation after her very first professional loss. Skriver proves a trooper, though, showing an educated left and strong power in spots, rallying her stamina in impressive fashion when things turned dangerous. BBU fighter Josephine tried to follow the winning formula that got Ferguson and Kloss past Righetti in the past. “You never know with a BBU chick, someone I’ve never fought, whether she might have some secret recipe in her sleeve, but she ended up doing what these models try to do against me. I’m prepared for them now, and I’m starting to feel pretty dominant again. And that’s a great feeling”, Righetti says post-fight. |
