Results: Lookout!; Story: Caspian & The Dollhouse

BEFORE:
Hayley Williams sitting back in her chair in the press conference hall, a mixture of sympathy and confidence on her face.

“I know Brenda is on a long losing streak, but that only makes her more dangerous if you ask me. Not to mention: she’s a veteran. I actually might be taller than her… believe it or not! That doesn’t happen a lot,” she chuckles. “But she’s pretty bulky, she’s obviously stronger than me. I’ll have to stay the f*ck away. Hopefully I can do that while doing some damage while I’m at it. I seriously respect Brenda and I’m looking forward to a tough fight. I’m totally for her breaking her losing streak, but it’ll have to wait a bit!” she ends with a laugh.

Brenda flashing a grateful smile as her opponent wraps up her turn at the mic. It’s true that the Bazz veteran is on a whopping ELEVEN-fight losing streak, with all the same indications that her misfortunes are going to continue, after falling to some of the best Flyweights in the division. Still, the dark-haired beauty surprising upbeat:

“I want to thank Hayley for those kind words. Most girls? They pick me as an opponent solely because they think I’m gonna be a pushover in the ring, or that I’m just easy pickings. But Hayley? She seems to look past my previous year of disappointments, as the rest of you should, and sees my record in its entirety. Don’t forget - I’ve faced off against some of the best in the division; beaten girls like Kreuk and Shahi. So don’t f*cking underestimate me.”

Later, girls showing their appreciation to the fans with waves and smiles whilst coming down the ramp, both looking ready for this fight. Hayley spunky with that yellow and red dyed hair and rock-chick persona, giving fellow stablemate Avril Lavigne a run for her money. She’s dressed in her usual Dollhouse attire: baby blue mixed with black cameo top and bottoms, whereas Brenda more sensually dressed: black mini-top and short denim shorts, her long black hair flowing out in a loose ponytail. Referee gets a nod from both corners as they signal their readiness to throw down. HERE we go with ten rounds of Flyweight action!

ROUND 1:
Energetic Williams wanting to make a statement that she can hang and bang with the greatest amongst her counterparts, starts this fight at a quick pace of circling and slapping leather into Brenda’s face, each successful hit drawing a loud cheer from the crowd and a grunt from Song’s lips. Hayley using her agility to good effect early on, which must have been her game plan coming into this fight. Brenda built like a tank, finding it hard to catch the smaller girl to steamroll her, but she’s undoubtedly smart, hanging back in a later minute whilst drawing Hayley inwards on purpose. Williams eagerly coming into the pocket, still firing punches into Brenda’s body and forearms, when she gets ROCKED by a hook that everyone else saw coming except her! Hayley off balance by that ONE punch, now scrambling to get back to dominating her counterpart, only to get whacked by ANOTHER hook sent into her forearms! This Doll needs to be ten times more careful if she hopes to eke out a win here tonight! Thankfully, the bell rings soon after, with Song beaming back to corner, even though by our estimates, she wasn't the one who took this opening one based on points alone.

ROUND 2:
Bad news for Hayley as she struggles to deal with Song’s superior power. She needs to adapt or die, that's what we always say, no matter how cruel that sounds. Hayley doing her best to do so, less eager to storm forward and instead punching at Brenda from the peripheral. Not that effective of a strategy, with the experienced Song fending off the smaller girl’s light jabs with relative ease. Hayley still alert however, dodging Brenda’s straight hands in turn, rather than let them land hard on her guard. But Williams still playing with fire by keeping herself close by... Remember that it might take one lucky swing for her to fly head over her heels here (obviously in a more painful manner…) Last minute and a right hand SCORES on Hayley’s forearms, with Williams squealing from the impact that drives her back across half the ring! Luckily it didn't land clean, that one, but that doesn't stop Song from grinning from ear-to-ear at her clear display of her power for the second round running.

Round 3:
Hayley not taking any more chances in the third, keeping herself FAR away this round and letting Song tire herself out whilst chasing her. Brenda too needs to fight more wisely - she’s letting her lead evaporate all too quickly as she pursues Hayley with missed swings, only to start getting herself tagged back in the face in the second half. Williams not playing around anymore, with a focused face of concentration behind her gloves as she stacks in the jabs and shoves Song’s face back multiple times over the course of three minutes. Brenda doing her best to fight back in the second half, but the pain is racking up points, forcing her to keep her face hidden behind her forearms. Hayley narrowly avoids another hook to the head in the final seconds, ducking to one side but certainly getting spooked all over by the thought that it’s gonna take MUCH more than what she dished out this past round in order to fell someone like Song.

ROUND 4:
Not so easily done, I’m afraid. Brenda also receiving feedback and admoshing from her own corner in between, and despite the scarring on her body and cheek, looks ready to take the fight back to Hayley in the fourth. Hayley trying to repeat the same tactics of circling and jabbing, and relying on her speed to get things done. But she’s finding it more difficult to penetrate Song’s tough exterior, as the American Asian beauty keeps her guard firm and her head down. Hayley growing ambitious though, coming forward and hitting more combinations on the guard, and after one such flurry to the forearms, she receives a right hand from Song that penetrates straight into the body, FOLDING her over, eyes bulging! OUCH. Hayley shocked and awed as what we feared the most becomes reality: she’s stumbling backwards in disarray, when HERE COMES SONG, looking to close the party! It’s what the Bazz girl’s been waiting for: hooks now flying left and right as she blows the smaller girl out of the water. Hayley smartly covers up like her foe did, taking the worse of the barrage on the sides of her head and ribs. Still though, they’re a doozy, Brenda’s power knocking the poor girl about like a pinata at a children’s party. Final seconds and she manages to get the f*ck out of range, at the screaming insistence of Carmen from corner. Brenda clearly tired herself, if not she could have certainly floored the Doll if she had managed to keep pace back there. Regardless, it’s Song’s moment in the spotlight, retaking the fourth with a good lead of her own.

ROUND 5:

Not much action in the fifth, and understably so: both women catching a breather, and even if Song wanted to close the distance to capitalise, her heaving chest suggests some difficulty otherwise, the mind wanting what the body simply cannot handle. Hayley predictably spooked again, stays at arm’s reach and doesn’t even attempt to throw any significant punches this round at Song. Tentative jabs land on the face but each step forward is met with a leap back from Hayley, and the round ends before any good exchange can take off from either girl’s direction.

ROUND 6:
Brenda coming forward aggressively in the opening seconds - could this be a switch in a strategy that will shake up the contest? Hayley definitely startled, using her agility to try and evade whilst jabbing at her attacker’s head. Brenda undeterred, however, taking measured steps forward whilst absorbing Hayley’s combination on the guard, before rinsing and repeating. Bazz girl not even firing a hook in turn to try and floor her opponent, and in the next moment, we find out why: Hayley too busy concentrating on evading her tormentress, doesn’t realize that she’s being herded into a corner by Brenda’s superior footwork. Hey - just because you’re faster on your feet in the ring doesn’t mean that your movements are considered the smart ones. Brenda knows this all too well as a veteran of the ring, has Hayley in her cross-sights and TAKES IT, STARTS SWINGING RAPIDLY all of a sudden! Look of profound shock on Hayley’s face as the tidal wave catches her completely unprepared! She’s weathering hook after hook, straight hands that SMASH in the guard, which is rapidly evaporating from the abuse! Another right hand sails right through the middle of the singer’s weakened arms, IMPACTS the nose HARD, and DOWN GOES WILLIAMS WITH A LOUD GRUNT!

KNOCKDOWN for Brenda Song, as she parades around the ring, chest heaving and an arm raised high in the sky! Hayley sputtering on all fours, stunned and winded by the sheer bullying power of her opponent. Referee counting her out already, but hell, the spunk in her small frame continuing to push her upwards still to rise by the count. She makes it back up by the count of 8!

Brenda giving the girl kudos where it’s due, nodding to Williams when the ref asks her if she wants to continue and Williams responding with a resounding nod of her own. But there’s two minutes left on this clock - will she be able to turn the tide or even survive?? Brenda with little sympathy once the bell officially rings, flies at Hayley again, none of that measured hanging back anymore and simply wanting to end this. Hayley unfortunately like a deer caught in the headlights, having little prep time before she’s STUNNED again by a straight hand straight to the chest, following by a haymaker that literally rotates her along the ropes. STILL the Paramore starlet not deeming it her while to go down! Brenda though not making the same mistake twice of letting her get away this time, and truth be told, Hayley’s legs not even attempting to, as she stays with her back glued to the ropes, taking the punishment to the body and head in waves after waves of elbows in and out! Brenda crashes ANOTHER hook into the unprotected cheek and that’s it! The referee jumps in to save Williams! It’s over!!

Official Decision: Brenda Song defeats Hayley Williams via TKO6!

AFTER:
An EMOTIONAL finish from Song as she finally manages to break her long lasting losing streak, celebrating with an immediate drop to her knees as the crowd cheers and shares in her elation. Williams crestfallen by contrast, left barely standing as she leans back into the ropes for support, still too stubborn for her knees to touch the canvas.

Brenda however ever-gracious, knows what this victory means to herself as well as what a loss this must be to Haley’s pride, immediately goes over to her and the two girls share a brief hug. Referee raising Song’s hand, but she deliberately shares the victory with a tear-faced Williams, raising her hand as well in celebration for putting on a wonderful fight together.

Later, Brenda talking to reporters, a big smile on her face: “It goes to show that ANYONE can stage a comeback if they work hard enough. I really want to thank Hayley for this win. Believe it or not, I think that she fought well tonight, and her kind words really pushed me to put in my best too,” she says. “Listen, Hayley. Anytime you want a rematch, I’m totally up for it!”
