3. Emily Ratajkowski vs Dua Lipa (Bantamweight)

Emily:

(27, 5’7, 17:8 FCBA, VIXENs)

Dua:
(23, 5’8, 0:1 FCBA, Holloway Boxing)

BEFORE:
When a possible stable war had been announced hastily, Emily Ratajkowski leapt at the chance to be included, looking to end 2018 with a clean slate and a possible win on her resume. That title loss to Bella Thorne and then a follow-up defeat at the hands of Kira Kosarin have really shook her confidence, but what she didn't expect further was getting paired against former Lightweight contender, Dua Lipa.

In another life, these girls might have been considered sisters from their similar looks. But the way they’re glaring at each other from across the table at the pre-fight press conference, even if there were related, they must surely be estranged cousins, twice-removed.

“I have no idea how or why Emily’s ranked so high over here in the FCBA. She must have flashed a couple of guys here and there. Yeah, that must be the reason why she got bumped so good!” Dua saying, with plenty of snark. “She’s loss to a bevy of girls at the top of their tier, and tonight’s going to be no different.”

“Well, since we’re on the topic of losing…” Emily cutting in with a pout of her lips. “There’s a reason why they call you the ‘challenger’, b*tch. You never made it pass Ambrosio and you ain't gonna make it pass me.”

Stare down is as tense as any corset as they come nose-to-nose, no longer smiling but still setting each other with looks to kill. Ring official separates them before either decides to throw a slap into the other’s face, though a second later and we have a feeling it would’ve become a likely reality.

Dua is dressed in sensual black bikini, white gloves, hair tied back in a ponytail. Emily in a leopard print bikini ensemble, red gloves to complete the look. Referee waves for the bell to begin and HERE we go with ten rounds of Bantamweight action!

ROUND 1:
Dua establishing distance early, keeping the surprising Vixen at bay. Emily showing early aggression, which is unlike her careful brawler style, but I guess facing off against an opponent as tough and tall as Lipa would bring out the competitive side in her. Ratajkowski storming forward and jabbing, but finding trouble landing her shots as Lipa just scattering out of her field of vision, before shooting fists into her own cheek and body when she’s least expecting it. Did we mention already how similar these two girls are? Take away the height difference and you’ll have carbon copies of dark-haired raven beauties battling back-and-forth for these first three minutes. Bell rings at the end and it’s Lipa’s round, and she knows it, with a raised hand and a smooch towards her supporters for turning out in droves.

ROUND 2:

Things seem to be going well for Dua… if she manages to keep her distance. What happens however, if Emily decides to do the same? First minute sees a stalemate between both beauties as they circle and barely come together to throw down. When they do, it’s Emily’s advantage all of a sudden when she exploits her heavy guard that absorbs Lipa’s light jabbing, before she DRILLS a couple of hooks into the singer’s sides. Shorter means packing a heavier punch, and Lipa’s thrown off balance with an OUMMPH! She needs to take her own advice this round by dictating movement better. Meeting Emily head-on may not be the best idea of hers thus far. Round ends and Lipa eating a couple more shots into forearms, rattling her into the ropes. But Ratajkowski doesn’t have time on her side to finish the job, however.

ROUND 3:
Both girls having taken a round each now showing even more wariness as they come forward. There’s tension in the air as they circle left, then right, their guards fully up. Emily jabbing at the head occasionally, trying to score a lead in this contest. Lipa not letting her land, however, weaving that upper torso backwards and jumping in at the last moment to take a potshot at Emily’s chin, which also misses. This round is looking more and more like a draw, with both girls showing off their hesitancy instead of their fighting prowess. Thankfully, they snap out of their reverie at the last moment, and at the urging of their corners, go into full-on attack mode. Emily storming in and landing more shots into the singer’s side, but Dua not to be outdone, keeping her legs moving backwards whilst stuffing leather into the lips from afar. Bell rings and we still think this here’s an even round, but leaving both ladies undoubtedly tired out from the mutual exertion.

ROUND 4:
Dua should be playing to her strengths and using her superior height to dictate terms. But she’s looking too winded from the three rounds of going toe-to-toe with her doppelganger, and gets sloppy in the first minute by letting Emily get in close. Swing into the ribs hits hard, almost folding her over in half. Eyes widen as she can’t stop the follow-up uppercut from landing flush on her chin! BAMM!! Dua’s head sent into orbit as she goes flying backwards, collapsing onto her butt in a shock KNOCKDOWN from Emily Ratajkowski!

Whether it was the luck of the draw or unforced error, the results speak for themselves: Dua Lipa struggling to regain her footing here as she first forces herself to sit back up, her eyes groggy and mouth opening and closing in surprise! Emily strutting back to her corner, blowing that same air kiss in her opponent’s direction, but now in humiliating fashion. Lipa making it back up by the count of 8, shaking her head from side to side as she nods to the referee to let her continue.

There’s about a minute half left on the clock, and Emily’s not gonna waste it. She charges forward, looking to finish the Brit off! Dua’s legs still working fine, however, getting the hell outta her way every chance she gets, and when she doesn’t, Emily only satisfied with pounding on that midriff repeatedly and not having any purchasing power on Dua’s head. Round ends and it’s clearly in the Vixen’s favour, though she’s probably cursing herself for not being to put her foe down in convincing fashion.

ROUND 5:
And whaddaya know - it’s Emily turn to rest and recharge, giving Dua all the time she needs to do the same. It’s a bad move from the Vixen who should be expending her last efforts to try and finish her off. But the girls waste the first minute playing it safe: tentative jabs at the head and swipes at the body force mutual grunts from lips, but otherwise they reflexively jump back out of the way of any follow-up action. Dua regaining most of her senses towards the last minute, starts targeting Emily’s face almost exclusively as Ratajkowski tries to force her way into close quarters. But that relentless long jab from Lipa doing lots of obstructive work, ending up with her leading the round by its conclusion. Emily nursing a couple of bruises on that pouty lip of hers as she’s left with little choice but to head back to corner empty-handed.

ROUND 6:
Another schizophrenic round when both girls FLY at each other upon the coaxing of both their corners. They don’t realise that when they meet in the center at similar instructions, there’s gonna be mutually assured destruction at hand. And rightly so: immediate jabs exchanged batter at the middle of guard, and then both taking wild swings at the head, looking for another knockout series. Emily finding some success exerting her power when lands a rough hook that bounces off the side of Dua’s head, throwing the singer a a couple of steps left, then right. But Lipa seems to take the punishment quite well, her guard still intact over her head, as she retaliates with a hook combo off the Vixen’s tummy, bending her over in half, face full of grief, before a third uppercut ROCKS into her chin, and subsequently, sends that lovely head of Emily’s backwards!! EMILY GOES FLYING ONTO HER BACK WITH A THUD!! And just like - it’s a revenge knockdown for Dua Lipa!

Referee’s counting in slow motion as Emily shakes her head left to right, the gnawing pain throbbing in her jawline and stars flying all over her eyes. Dua huffing, not content with celebrating just yet, as she slowly makes her way back to neutral corner, leaving Ratajkowski to the fates. It’s a slow climb back up, with Emily heaving hot air on the ropes, but the count reaches its conclusion and the poor girl doesn’t realise it’s over till it really is! She’s still on her knees when the referee blows the whistle and calls for the bell!

Official Decision: Dua Lipa defeats Emily Ratajkowski via KO6!

AFTER:

Painful loss for Ratajkowski is her third loss in a row after that fateful defeat at the hands of Bella Thorne - will she ever be able to find her footing again in this division? She will need to if she ever hopes of proving the rest of the world wrong, of the fact that she’s anything more than just a magazine pin-up girl.

As for Dua, she’s back in the winning column and loving it, finally celebrating with two hands thrown into the air and plenty of kisses showered on her adoring fans. She’s finally found success over this side of the Atlantic, albeit against a ‘paper-thin model’ like Emily.

No kiss and make up for either woman as they completely ignore each other in the post-fight. Emily’s too busy getting checked on by Trainer Corey Saucier anyways, leaving Dua Lipa to own the rest of the ring as Holloway corner picks up another win for tonight!
