BEFORE: Long-time Coronation Street stalwart Michelle Keegan vows to finally emerge as elite threat in the FCBA but requires regular work in order to enjoy similar exposure as fellow BBU crossover Cheryl Cole. Enter Emilie de Ravin - the somewhat forgotten Aussie prospect who never quite fulfilled the early promise but is still regarded as a viable gatekeeper in her own right. Besides there's nothing wrong with a classic brunette vs blonde match-up and both girls share little love between them as they refuse to touch gloves during the introductions.
Michelle Keegan wears a red bikini set and black gloves. Long dark brown hair tied in a curled ponytail. Emilie de Ravin wears a golden sports bra, black knickers and golden gloves. Long blonde with bangs tied in a sleek ponytail. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the flyweight division.
Round 1:
Michelle reckons the Aussie woman will struggle to connect early but she receives a nasty wake up call when de Ravin BLASTS her with a big hook on the nose that sets up a relentless pounding drive up the middle and throws the brunette onto her heels. Ugh! Beevers' coach Denise Lewis is equally stunned but it's all Emilie during the opener as she buries the British lass under a barrage of close range leather that dissects the Keegan guard with a shocking ease. Michelle tries to dance her way into a safe spot but de Ravin charges at her on speed dial and traps along the ropes come the final minute. She keeps swinging upstairs to connect with the pretty brunette's cheeks and the sheer volume of these attacks keep Michelle under wraps. The Beevers' bet on a rusty start from the older actress and got caught out in numbers. Perhaps Emilie lacks outright power but she leaves the Corrie veteran scowling in anger at the bell regardless.
Round 2:
Michelle flips the slugging mode on and it's back to the good ole days of BBU backyard boxing as both women trade punches without any care for a proper defense. Emilie staggers onto her heels upon a wicked impact on the lips and Michelle just pours more leather up the middle to rock her head back & forth afterwards. The blonde struggles to swing back while reeling on her heels and eats more rapid-fire upstairs that forces her into a spooked hassle around the ring. Keegan tries to inflict more instant damage but fails to land that big punch and has to be satisfied with pure fear factor she dumps all over the retreating opponent. Emilie almost pivots herself onto the turnbuckle and eats a late hook on the nose that makes her gurgle in pain alas the clock rescues her from more trouble moments later.
Round 3:
More slugging in the third as Keegan barks in her efforts to knock the blonde's head off while avoiding a similar response from de Ravin. The Aussie woman connects with some single punches upstairs but eventually gets outworked over the top and backs out of the dangerous stance handing the momentum over to the Stockport babe. That's exactly what the Beevers wanted so Michelle makes the blonde pay with more wild swings that tag her on each temple and suck her into a lenghty close range dispute in the second minute. Allthough Emilie manages to stick some promising shots to Keegan's body, she eats too much juice upstairs and gets thumped back to the ropes where the younger actress methodically dissects the high guard until the bell halts her charge. Ugh! De Ravin sports visibly swollen lips at the end of the round and tries to ignore the Brit eyeballing her but the fans don't believe that's going to change the Beevers attitude given the swift turnaround over the last six minutes.
Round 4:
Emilie doesn't have the legs to control Michelle in mid-distance and gets swamped by another aerial assault that inflicts more damage on her pretty face early in the fourth. Keegan might be a little one-dimensional in her pursuit but she cashes in with several crisp hooks that take the sting out of the blonde's mediocre agility and render her into a statesque punchbag down the stretch. A brief clinch here and there forces the stoppage before Emilie finally shows some poise and thumps the brunette on the jugs to make her feel it. Keegan loses her temper over the sudden JMD treatment and volleys a low blow on the groin that earns her a lecture from the referee. Meanwhile de Ravin enjoys the moment of respite and fends off the British attack thereafter while looping single punches from the back foot. She shows improved mobility and has Michelle cutting thin air before one last hook nails the brunette on the eye to wobble her into a loud whimper. Emilie tries to smack her with a follow up on the rack one more time but the clock expires just as she rattles Keegan's jugs and now it's her turn to hear an angry word from the man in charge!
Round 5:
Back & forth we go again as both women trade wicked leather in the center of the ring until Michelle tears a bloody patch across Emilie's nasal ridge and thumps her with a quick uppercut on the jaw. Ugh! The Aussie girl wobbles forward with a loud spasm and fails to embrace for a brutal punch that NAILS her on the temple moments later... Uh-oh!!! That strike bends de Ravin backwards and trips her back to the ropes where she tries to pivot away from the looming follow up... she's too slow in her attempt though and EATS a right hand on the mouth THAT DROPS HER DEAD MEAT on the spot. Ugh! Michelle almost send the blonde's mouthpiece flying off into the stands and Denise Lewis signals this one is over already! Emilie remains crippled on the floor and only gets up onto all fours when the merciless count passes her by! KO5 Michelle Keegan!!!
AFTER: It's as good as it gets for the former Corrie babe who punches the air in delight and pins the sobbing blonde face-down on the canvas when she places her foot on top of her shoulder. She's still a bit upset over the swelling around the left eye but it's a kind of a slugging victory that Cheryl Cole - and Boxing World Online pundits - must acknowledge as elite! Beevers' stablemate Gemma Atkinson has lost her mojo so far this season but Michelle is ready to take over as the new pin-up girl regardless of how stacked the flyweight division really is. Don't sleep on this Stockport contender, folks!
