Brie Larson vs. Evangeline Lilly(Words:Front Street / Results: Lookout!)

BEFORE:

Big challenge for promising blonde Brie in six-time champion, number one contender, and, oh yes, potential future Hall of Famer Evangeline Lilly. But. Larson's fought some top fighters in her short career, and, if she's intimidated by Lilly, she's not letting on in the pre-fight. "Obviously, she's still in top form," says the blonde with a nod. "She's number one contender. And, again, obviously, she's had a terrific career. But, the only thing that will matter when we get in the ring is who's better TONIGHT. And, that's going to be ME."

"This girl has plenty of talent, and she's beaten good fighters," says Evangeline. "But, I'm looking to get the belts back and I'm thisclose to a shot at them. She's in my way. But. Not for long."

ROUND ONE:

Blonde is a rangy bantam, and she wants to use that early, getting her box on against the shorter brunette. Lilly willing to play this game, at least early, so that she can get some recon done. First minute is evenly fought, but, Brie begins getting the jab working well at that point, and she starts to take control, following on with hard right hands, forcing the brunette to cover up. Evangeline soon on the defensive, unable to get the offense in gear, reduced to countering in spots. Those counters are effective, but there aren't enough of them. Instead, the blonde's preempting the brunette. She's got the range down and she's filling the air with lots of hard, accurate shot, building up points and keeping the brunette at bay. Lilly's never hurt, but, there's no question she's taking the worst of it in the final two minutes. When the bell rings, Brie's taken the round wide and grabbed the 10-9 lead.

ROUND TWO:

Brie right back to work at range, but Vangie's not going to stay out there and box with her, as that didn't exactly go swimmingly for her in the last round. Instead, Lilly works forward, steps to, crowds Larson, bangs body, gets physical. Now. There are plenty of bantams who'd have major problems handling this kind of thing from Evangeline Lilly, but Brie is not one of them. Larson stands in, bangs back, and holds her own very well. Result is an entire round of infighting, with bloth blodne and brunette working body and head with equal enthusiasm. Plenty of hard leather getting home, though neither fighter neglects her defenses. Plenty of punches are blocked and slipped, but lots of leather gets through as well. Nobody's able to take control on these terms, and, in fact, no one's able to gain even the smallest edge. When the bell rings, it's all even, a drawn round, leaving Brie still up a point, 20-19.

ROUND THREE:

Back to infighting. Lilly pressuring, Larson refusing to give ground. Result is the two bantams going at it toe to toe, working body, head, back to body. BOOM! Evangeline rocks Brie! A short left hook and the blonde takes a couple of stumbling steps backward and Vangie's letting the hands go. Brunette forces the blonde back into the ropes and lets her have it with the big guns. Larson in desperate trouble as the referee looks in closely. Lilly THUMPING her with heavy shot. Blonde keeping the guard up, putting the body on sale. Evangeline starts buying. In bulk. She's PUNISHING the ribs and midsection, forcing the blonde to crouch to try to protect the body, setting up HARD uppercuts, one of which wobbles Brie again! Larson clinching, shoved off by the brunette, who goes right back to work. Ref on a hair trigger, but the blonde manages to hold him off to the bell. It's brunette and wide, though, and we're even at 29.

ROUND FOUR:

Lilly pressing forward, sitting down on punches, backing up a still-wobbly Brie. Larson trying to slow the Lilly train down, but can't get it done. Brunette stoking the boilers building up steam to dangerous levels as she looks to finish what she started in the third. Blonde all defensive, keeping the hands up while giving ground and moving laterally to try to stay off the ropes. BOOM! Right hand, BRIE! Larson looses Lilly's knees with a brilliant right hand counter! Vangie now covering up as Brie goes all in and DOWN GOES LILLY! Evangeline dropped to her back by a right hook. Larson quickly to a neutral corner as the referee begins counting over the dazed brunette. Lilly gets to right haunch and elbow at six, then pushes to her feet at eight. Ref gives her the mandatory and ON COMES BRIE! Larson HAMMERING Lilly as the wobbly brunette hangs on. Final twenty seconds sees Vangie rope bound and taking, but she's able to stay on her feet to the bell. When it rings, Larson's grabbed the round 10-8 and now leads 39-37.

ROUND FIVE:

Larson now determined to end this thing. She's coming forward behind her left jab, backing up the brunette with hard right hands. Lilly not trying to hold canvas. Giving ground as she's willing to trade space for time to get the legs back under her. But, the blonde has no intention of giving her that time. Brie cleaning up in a big way, getting Lilly back on the ropes about a minute in and making with the heavy shell. Brunette forms the tight earmuff, works to block punches, roll with others, all while Brie piles up the points and the punishment and BOOM DOWN GOES LARSON! Lilly lands a BLISTERING right hand counter and drops the stunned blonde to her rump! Now it's the brunette headed to a neutral corner while the referee counts over the blonde. Brie up at six, takes the mandatory, and ON COMES EVANGELINE! Lilly gives Larson a THOROUGH beating for the remainder of the round, pinning her to the ropes and battering her viciously, but, Brie's able to stay on her feet to the bell. It's 10-8 for the brunette in the fifth, though, and we're even at 47.

ROUND SIX:

Lilly back where she was to begin the fourth, looking to finish. She's walking Larson down, banging away with both hands. Brie's knees still wobbly, and Evangeline's taking full advantage, lining up the blonde, landing hard right hands to the head while basically ignoring the body. Larson countering in spots, but mostly taking, and she's taking a TON of heavy shell. BOOM! Right hand, Vangie and DOWN GOES LARSON! Brie dropped to her back by a straight right hand. Lilly to a neutral corner to watch and wait. But, the brunette is disappointed again. Blonde up at eight. Takes the mandatory. Ref waives on Evangeline who GOES TO TOWN! Lilly winging away at Larson, driving her to the ropes, and opening up a HUGE can of whoop ass! Blonde in her high guard, leaning back in the ropes, shaken repeatedly by heavy shot from Lilly, looking ready to go at any second...and the referee leaps in, bundling the blonde to safety! It's OVER! And your winner by TKO6 is Evangeline Lilly!

AFTER:

Lilly still breathless in the post-fight, spent a lot of energy getting that stoppage. "Like I said," the brunette says, chest heaving, "She's got plenty of talent. But, she was standing in the way of me getting another shot at those belts. And, she's NOT anymore."
