BEFORE:
Next on the fight card and a win that's up for grabs is between mainstay Jessica Chastain going up against a veteran of the ring-posts, Danielle Fishel herself. Fischel of course is heavily favoured in tonight's contest to win, and its really nothing personal, Jessica Chastain - it’s just that her opponent is one heck of a legend here in the FCBA, and you only joined us last year for your tenth fight since.

Jessica acknowledging the shortfall as much during the pre-fight press junket, smiling despite herself when she’s asked about her thoughts regarding those overwhelming odds.

"People have been asking me if I think this will be my toughest fight so far. Let’s see… a Hall-of-Famer known as the TANK, who's had over 200 fights and close to 20 championships under her belt alone… Are you kidding me? OF COURSE it’s my toughest fight by a mile, which is *exactly* why I'm here tonight. Winning this will be a huge achievement for me and I just couldn't say no when Carmen brought Dani up. She may have lost her last six fights but she's still a scary opponent for anyone, and anyone who says otherwise is plain LYING. I have a plan though. Trust me guys. I'm gonna beat a Hall-of-Famer on my 10th fight tonight, or I'll get knocked out trying..."

That’s exactly the kind of attitude we like to hear as well, and Chastain still going in guns blazing despite her excellent success against some of her less-known opponents. But in some way, she only has herself to blame by entering the boxing game this late, as Dani admits as much once it’s her turn to speak.

“Everyone knows who Chastain is. She’s an award-winning actress - and one hell of a good one at that. But that’s ALL she is - a talented woman who has no business being in the ring with me whatsoever. Myself? I’ve been famous on the screen AND in this ring, so it’s almost insulting that management has booked me against a relative rookie tonight. I deserve someone who’s more at my level, and I'm gonna prove it. Anyone who expects me to go easy on Jessica is in for a surprise. I’m here to win, and win big. And you all know I KNOW how to do THAT! ”

Well, it looks like all that civility wasn't reciprocated. Jessica still trying to keep a straight face afterwards, but the staredown at the podium is all the more intense now that both women have made their feelings known towards each other.

The entrances are fit for a pair of Queens, with Danielle coming down the ramp of the arena first with her game face stitched on. And hell, even her fight ware tonight is considered traditional here: muted grey boxing trunks with a tight black sports bra pulled down over her chest along with black boxing gloves.

Jessica's entrance isn't to be outdone, and the arena floods with red and orange lights as the actress strides out from behind the curtains to some deafening cheers, waving to her many fans in her signature black and orange colours, hair in a tight ponytail.

Moments later and we're finally in the ring and both ladies look warmed up and ready to rumble. There may not be a title up for grabs here, but there's plenty else on the line in terms of pride and bragging rights. HERE we go with ten rounds of Bantamweight action!

ROUND 1:
Jessica has done her homework in this fight, choosing early to stay far away from Fishel and moving like she's still in awe of her opponent's power. But there's a reason why they call her the Tank, ladies and gentlemen. Even though Jessica's hella diligent in there at avoiding most of her heavy bombs, even she can't fully escape the gravity of the veteran fighter, taking a series of heavy hooks to her arms that throw her helplessly off balance on a couple occasions. Danielle wins this round by a mile as a result, with Chastain still struggling to find her bearings against a dangerous foe.

ROUND 2:
However her luck seems to improve in the second, with Chastain recalibrating the speed required to evade Fishel more effectively. It's such a turn in fortunes that even Danielle's wondering why her fists aren't making contact this time, with Jessica staying the f*ck away and using that three-inch height advantage to great effect. A tank ain't gonna steamroll you if it can't catch ya in its tracks. And that's exactly what Jessica is doing: evasion and agility the names of the game whenever she jumps out of the way of Dani’s heavy hooks, before planting jabs of her own into the old guard's face. It's a close round, especially towards the end, when Dani gets lucky and scores on her own with a left swing into Jessica's body, but overall we think Chastain still manages to edge out a victory.

ROUND 3:
Case in point: Jessica already limping somewhat when the bell rings to start the third - that's the extent of Fishel's power folks, who only needs to get in one or two big hits in order to put her opponent away for good. Chastain doing her best to not make it too obvious, but she's clearly favouring one side as she begins her evasive tactics again. Dani not showing much mercy, catching her with an early swing to the side of the head and drawing a loud grunt. She not so much as jumps backwards as she’s forced to the side by the impact, and it simply gets worse after that. Dani rolling on forward like a hulking mass of muscle, and no amount of jabbing to her face seems to change the speed of her attack. Last couple seconds and Chastain with choice but to cover up and turtle, and HERE it comes - Dani has a real shot here of securing a brutal, early knockdown, strapping those big lefts and rights into her guard and hoping to thrash her silly! Chastain however holding onto her breakfast and not giving in to the big girl's demands! After thirty seconds, finally there goes the bell, saving the Doll from certain doom! What a close call that was! Dani looking flummoxed as she turns and heads back to corner, looking rejected and denied. That exchange has taken its toll on both women for sure and Chastain herself left hunched over and panting hard, her back still glued to the ropes.

ROUND 4:
Some already whispering in the rafters that there's no way Chastain can survive another six rounds like this, with the redhead already having gone through hell and back. But she ain't gotten to this point without persevering. When the bell rings, it's small wonder that she can even get off her stool, and the only saving grace for her is that Dani's moving awfully slow herself, with that wild rush in the last round also having sapped her strength. Girls circle each other for a good while, and it's Chastain who's doing most of the footwork, skirting around the bigger girl and firing shots into her arms. Dani simply rotating on the spot to face her head on, leaving Chastain to score over and over with steady pik pak pik pak, using her superior reach to land punches on either Dani's guard or body. Fishel swinging back but only on occasion, incredibly winded just from standing there throughout this round. Looks like we've underestimated the Doll for the last time, as she finishes off the round with a another rapid flurry driven into Fishel's face, actually pushing her backwards for the briefest of moments! There's some glimmer of hope after all for Jessica at the end of this tunnel!

ROUND 5:
Girls catching their breaths briefly and we actually don't think that that's the best idea for Jessica at this stage, who can't afford to allow the beast to catch her breath. She's shouted at from behind, her corner instructing as much to venture forth, and Carmen banging the apron and gesturing wildly at a wounded Dani. Chastain complying, snapping more jabs into Dani's face as the Foxfire legend retreats and covers up. Suddenly, Chastain's in control, or at least giving the appearance of such. That is, until she's swiped across the face by a sudden hook, dull blunted out of nowhere! Ouch and ouch again!! Jessica's face almost half-disappearing in leather as she's thrown backwards, all that ground gained and lost in an instant! Crowd holding their breaths as they wonder if Jessica's gonna go down just like that, in burning wreckage, but no - she catches herself just in time on the top rope, spinning around to narrowly avoid another monster a right hand from Fishel, who had leapt in after her prey! Girls finding trouble holding onto each other in the final minute, with Jessica herself resetting at the far corner of the ring, looking shaken and stirred but very much alive!

ROUND 6:
We head past the middle point and both these cougars are pushing themselves past their primes. Dani in particular doesn't look like she's capable of another burst of energy like that last time, but woe to the woman who chooses to underestimate her in a fight. Jessica certainly not taking her chances, no matter how extensive her foe’s engines are smoking and on fire. She's still methodically coming forward to strike at Dani's face, pushing her backwards but this time staying just a few paces away in case another wild hook rearranges her face permanently. Dani grunting and groaning as the jabs land hard, louder and louder painful gasps from her lips as her own swings simply cutting the air and unable to score on Jessica, who’s weaving in and out fluently. This is how you bring down an armoured vehicle, folks, with a hail of machine gun fire, of course over a sustained period of time! A final flurry into Dani’s nostrils finally pushes her back and off her feet - she collapses down to canvas with a loud shout of pain!

KNOCKDOWN for Jessica Chastain, and it might as well be over there and then, with Dani lying sprawled down on her side and incapable of getting back up! Referee counts her out past 10, suddenly waving his hands rapidly in the air! It's OVER!

Official Decision: Jessica Chastain defeats Danielle Fishel via KO6!

AFTER:
A huge sigh of relief accompanies Jessica's win tonight, with the redhead slumping her frame into the ropes and letting herself just hang there for a moment, pretty amazed by her own achievement. She takes another moment to let the result fully sink in, then stumbles back to her own corner and embraces her stablemates and trainers alike. Baptism of fire here but she made it out alive in the end.

Can't say the same for Dani, who's still lying crumpled on the canvas and needing medical assistance to salvage her pride.

Meanwhile, Jessica waving exuberantly to the crowd, a big grin on her face. Surprisingly, she opts to walk over to Dani and help her up, despite the war of words they exchanged earlier. Even Dani herself blinking twice to register the hand of assistance and subsequent conciliatory hug, no matter how brief, with the girls exchanging a few inaudible words before departing from the ring.

Later, winded Chastain talking to reporters about her important victory tonight: “Wow…that was huge. Definitely the biggest win of my boxing career so far! Dani is a legend in this sport…and a very scary opponent to be in a ring with. I don’t know HOW I did it, but I guess I’m pretty good myself.” She laughs. “Onward and upward!” Jessica ending with a shake of her fist before going back to celebrate her win, hugging a VERY ecstatic looking Carmen Electra.
