LUCY HALE VS MAISIE WILLIAMS
Results: Lookout Writing: Archer
Lucy: 29 YO, 5’2 (1.57 m), 28-28-0, 27 KO since 2010, Pretty Little Punchers
Maisie: 21 YO, 5’1 (1.55 m), FCBA: 3-2-0, 3 KO since 2017. Girls Friday

Before: “I have been training hard for this fight,” reports Maisie Williams in the pre-fight presser. “Lucy’s been here 10 years and she was Flyweight Champion in 2016. She is tough and dangerous. I knew I had to fight my absolute best or I’d end up like Camila Mendes. I feel am ready for her and I am confident that I am. I can win this fight if can just employ what I have been taught. This is a big opportunity and I mean to grab it!”

Lucy Hale smiles at all this: “I know I have been nearly 9 years, but I still feel like am just beginning. It’s no secret I lost my first 9 FCBA fights before started winning. Some might think a .500 record is nothing to brag about, but to me it is an achievement. I had a disappointing 2018. I went 2-6, so I am determined to turn that around. Beating Camila Mendes helped get 2019 off to a good start, but I need to build on that and I see this fight as a opportunity to do it. Besides, it not often I’m the ‘Big Woman’ in a fight. (:Lucy smiles). Don’t want to let some ‘tiny terror’ cut me down to size.”

“That’s me ‘Maisie the Giant-Killer Flyweight’,” cracks Maisie. “I’ll try not to hurt you too much. Lucy,”

“Do what you have to do in win—I certainly will,” Lucy says amiably.

The two even shake hands at the end of the presser. They meet again in the ring on Fight Night. Lucy is in a black bikini with golden gloves and ankle boots (white laces). Her bobbed lightened hair is wetted down. Maisie has a silver sports bra with black trunks. Black gloves and ankle boots (silver laces). Her hair is pulled back in a battle braid. Ring instructions are brisk and to the point. Tap of the gloves and they are very shortly back in their corners. The bell rings.

R1: Both fighters are quick to the attack. Maisie and Lucy press in close as they exchange a flurry to shots to the body. Then Lucy slips in a snap right uppercut into Maisie’s chin. Maisie stutter-steps backwards with a fogged-look in her eyes. Lucy smacks Maisie to the jaw with follow-up lefts and rights. Maisie covers up and tries to push Lucy back with her jab, but these punches are splattering Lucy at random. Lucy more focused now hooks Maisie in the belly and adds some shots to the chest to make Maisie gasp for air. Lucy appears to be trying to get Maisie into the ropes, but Maisie is able to slide away and uses the distance to strengthen her jab. Lucy is fighting along the perimeter as the round ends. Judges’ cards give it to Lucy Hale by a wide margin.

R2: Maisie and Lucy move back at each other as the new round opens, Maisie gets on target first with stabbing shots to the midsection that hunch Lucy up. Then she circles around flicking shots at Lucy’s head. Lucy seems to have trouble targeting the evasive Maisie while being forced to absorb more and more of Maisie’s leather. Lucy swatted hard on the jaw which makes her cover up and then Maisie pounds away with a steady drumbeat on shots to the body. Lucy getting pushed back and her counters drop off as she tries to just get away from the rapid-fire punching. Round finally ends and Maisie now has won the round wide.

R3: Lucy fights back with a determined series of shots that slap Maisie’s head around. Maisie tries to stand her ground, but takes a wicked right uppercut to the chin. Maisie’s legs tremble and she falls back shakily. Lucy aggressive in the follow-up. Maisie has her gloves up high so Lucy is really working the body as Maisie’s breasts, ribs and stomach are thoroughly swabbed by Lucy’s relentless leather. Maisie backs away as best she can and struggles to keep from being driven into the ropes. Lucy maintaining that heavy pressure. Maisie able to mount some defense, but otherwise just keeps moving to lessen the impacts. Bell sounds as this round goes onto Lucy Hale’s side of the judges’ cards.

R4: Maisie moved to challenge Lucy in early action as the new round began. She moved in close and brought short, hard-driven hooks into Lucy’s ribcage. Lucy countered with hooks of her own, but then Maisie suddenly brought an overhand shot crashing into Lucy’s right eye. Lucy reeled back as Maisie smacked her jaw with follow-up rights and lefts. Up went Lucy’s guard and into Lucy’s belly went Maisie’s digging hooks. Lucy was knocked back on her heels. Maisie launched more and more hooks into Lucy’s midsection, doubling her up with a shuddering groan. Maisie then threw hard rights and lefts against Lucy’s head, knocking her from side to side and keeping her gloves up protectively rather than punching back. Maisie pushed Lucy back towards the ropes and Lucy rallies with a series of clinches, but Maisie stayed on her and kept punching to the bell. Now Maisie Williams booked around successful round won wide on her side of the cards as the back and forth battle continued.

R5: Cue the Lucy Hale comeback as the fresh round began. She was quick out of her corner after the PLP corner crew had done what they could for the angry circle of swelling around her right eye. Lucy fired punches in over Maisie’s high guard to smite her in the forehead and along the bridge of her nose. Maisie tried to stand her ground, but then Lucy stuffed a raking right across her ribs and a left hook into her belly. Maisie began to fall back. Lucy eagerly pursued and was moving to cut off the ring preparatory to another effort to get Maisie onto the ropes. However, Maisie suddenly swung around Lucy, who had to pivot to stay with the elusive Brit and in that moment, Maisie Williams drove another right into Lucy’s damaged eye. Lucy froze as though struck by an electric current. Maisie then smashed home a right cross/left hook combo to the chin and Lucy’s knees suddenly sagged beneath her. Maisie added a powerful right to the jaw as Lucy was toppling forward. Lucy’s head snapped around and her body crashed onto its side! Lucy lay there gasping and twitching as Maisie scampered to the neutral corner. The referee moved in. Lucy pushed herself up by the arms and hung there as she got her knees beneath her then The referee has just reached “EIGHT!” as Lucy forced herself upward until she was fully erect at “NINE!” The referee waved Maisie back in, but Lucy was now keeping a strict defense and doing her best to move way. Maisie kept up the hunt to the bell, but she had to settle for having stolen a round from Lucy Hale with that knockdown which gave her a wide win on the cards.

R6: Desperate work by the PLP corner as they tried to repair the now badly swollen area around Lucy’s right eye. PLP trainer Nia Peeples tried to encourage Lucy who was looking stunned at the reversal. All too soon the bell rang and Lucy had to get back into action. Maisie Williams was out of her corner quickly, but she cautiously circled around Lucy firing out a steady stream of probing punches. Lucy was trying to stay with you, but it became evident that she was having trouble seeing out of her right eye as the swelling had increased markedly. Maisie realized this and struck out of the blind with a right that exploded against Lucy’s jaw. Lucy staggered away and tried to turn back to face Maisie, but Maisie struck again from Lucy’s blind spot. This time the right struck Lucy in the right temple. Lucy took one or two steps forward and then collapsed in a heap! Maisie went to the neutral corner and watched as the referee again counted. Lucy made feeble efforts to rise, but she could not seem to find any strength left. She was still sprawled out, face-down, with her cheek resting on the canvas breathing wetly as the official cried:

“NINE!”…”TEN!”….YOU’RE OUT!!!!”

THE WINNER: MAISIE WILLIAMS DEFEATS LUCY HALE KO6.

After: “I knew this wouldn’t be easy, but it feels so good to have won this fight,” a tired but excited Maisie Williams tells the press in the ring after her victory. “Every time I thought I had Lucy handled she came back at me, at least until got her down in the 5th. Well, now that I have that fight behind me, I can’t wait to see who I get to fight next! I feel like I could take on Mish Williams—well, maybe not right away—but one of these days!”

Meanwhile Lucy Hale has been revived and sits on her stool. She has a ice pack on that eye as Skip Tracey of Archer News comes by.

“Tough night, eh?” He ventures.

‘Lucy looks up: “It’s always a tough night when you lose. Nobody knows that better than me. This time I am going to have a world-class shiner. Social media is going to love that.”

“Any thoughts about what’s next?” Skip asked.

“No, it’s too soon. All I want is hot shower and more time with this ice pack. I’m sure we’ll come up with something soon. My may be domne now, but I’ll be back up soon.”

“Well, I am certainly glad to hear that,” said a voice behind Skip. He and Lucy saw that it was Maisie.

“Hello, Maisie, good fight,” Lucy said.

“Sorry about the eye, but it is boxing,” Maisie said sheepishly.

“Wait until next time—I give you matching black eyes,” Lucy said managing a smile.

“Hey, just say the word, I’ll be glad to see if we can’t get a rematch,” Maisie said.

“Never rush into a rematch if you don’t have to,” Lucy said. “It will come in time. You can be sure of that.”

“I knew I liked you,” Maisie and step forward to share a hug with Lucy. Then Maisie headed back to her own corner.

It was an good fight while it lasted. Back and forth through the opening four rounds. The knockdown in R5 seemed to have been the turning point and led to Maisie Williams finishing Lucy off in the 6th. It was a solid step forward for the young GF boxer, but she needs to show she can win more fights against experienced fighters, making her next few bouts of special interest. Meanwhile Lucy Hale finds herself once again on the wrong side of .500, but she has been in this position before and her fans hope she won’t be there for long. An entertaining night should lead to future entertaining nights for fans of both fighters.
