UNIFIED BANTAMWEIGHT TITLE

Demi Lovato vs. Priyanka Chopra (Unified Bantamweight Championship)

BEFORE:

Demi certainly not taking the easy road for her first title defense dialing up the red-hot (in more ways than one) Indian beauty, who's one of the most physical bantams in the FCBA. But, Lovato's not sweating it. "Physical? Yeah, she's physical. But. Physical is what I DO. And, if she wants to bring that, well. She's not going to like how it comes out."

"Oh," says a hard-eyed Priyanka, "I PLAN to bring it. And, I plan to leave Lovato lying at my feet."

ROUND ONE:

Chopra wasting no time taking the fight to the champion. She's walking forward behind the jab, trying to back Lovato up. Sturdy singer, however, not giving ground and HERE WE GO! Ladies hot tossing in the middle of the ring and...BOOM! Lovato LIGHTS UP BIG CHOPPY with a SCINTILLATING right hand! Chopra stumbling backward, GOBSMACKED and ON COMES DEMI! Lovato letting the hands go in a MAJOR way, looking to finish this thing right away, and she's clearly close to doing it as the S.S. Priyanka lists back into the ropes. Lovato ALL up in Big Choppy's grill now, working her body, then going upstairs before digging right back to ribs and midsection. Priyanka leaning into the ropes in a high guard, trying to ride this thing out. Storm rages, but Chopra stays afloat. When the bell rings, though, it's Demi wide and Lovato leads 10-9.

ROUND TWO:

Lovato ALL OVER Chopra early. She's calling in every available artillery unit for strike after strike. BOOM! Right hand COUNTER and LOVATO IS WOBBLY-BUTT! Priyanka lands a laser-guided right and the champion is now in deep trouble! Indian beauty letting the hands go, but, still shaking off damage herself, she's not able to do much more than score some solid shot until we get into the final minute. By that point, Priyanka's got those great legs back under her, and that changes everything. NOW she's landing big punches, and she's quickly got the champ on the ropes and taking. Demi hanging on desperately as we go under thirty with the referee on a hair trigger. Champ does enough, just, to keep him at bay and last until the bell. But. It's Priyanka WIDE and we're even at 19.

ROUND THREE:

Demonstration of how much Chopra's developed as a fighter in the third. She's got the champion in trouble, but she's CLINICAL. She's not rushed, not sloppy. No, she's slowly, deliberately, taking Demi apart. Working the jab upstairs, following on with HARD right hands, then digging some body. She's roughing the American up, piling up points and even more hurt. Lovato taking the licking and continuing to tick, but she's clearly getting touched up, and with the number of power punches landing, well. The damage is adding up for the champion. Lovato both game and gutty, though. She's firing back when she can, staying off the ropes. Trying to run some clock, get the legs back. By the latter stages of the round, she's done both. But, it's much too late to matter in the third. When the bell rings, it's Chopra wide and Priyanka leads 29-28.

ROUND FOUR:

Chopra continues the pressure, but Lovato able to hold ground now and IT'S ON! Ladies banging away in the middle of the ring, landing hard shot to both head and body and BOOM! Right hand, DEMI and Priyanka is HURT! Chopra wobbles, grabs Lovato to keep from going down. Demi immediately punches free and drives her rival back into the ropes. Priyanka in deep trouble as the champion goes to town to both head and body. She's BANGING away, looking to finish this thing here and now. Chopra now playing defense, being punished, taking some payback from the last two rounds, but, like the champion before her, the challenger's sturdy legs pass the test. She hangs on in a high guard to the bell. But, when it rings, it's Demi and wide, and that means Lovato's tied things up at 38.

ROUND FIVE:

Lovato pressing early, but Chopra able to hold ground. Challenger has the legs back, and Demi's not going to make the mistake the Indian beauty did in the fourth. Instead, she gets to work on the body. Priyanka fine with banging away in close, and we're well and truly in the phone booth now. Ladies with heads on shoulders thumping tummy and ripping ribs. Both certain their own sturdy body will come out on top in what's now a war of attrition. Every legal inch getting hammered with leather as the two brunettes look to put the other on the road to quitting. And, while lots of damage is done, it doesn't look as if either is making any progress on that road. Instead, each shot is met with a counter shot, and there's not much in it when the bell rings. Priyanka's done a bit more, though, and she takes the points and the 48-47 lead.

ROUND SIX:

Back into the booth. Lovato digging body and Chopra responding in kind. BOOM! Short right hook, BIG CHOPPY and DOWN GOES THE CHAMPION! Demi's legs give out and she crumples past Priyanka's left shoulder to crash, face-first to the canvas! Chopra wastes no time getting to a neutral corner. Referee counts down as Demi struggles to get to all fours. Slumps back to the cavnas twice before managing it. Count reaches eight before she attempts to stand...and she MANAGES TO DO IT! Lovato wobbly as hell, but on her feet and taking the mandatory. And, the ref waives on Chopra! Indian bent on destruction now, throwing bombs at a listing, retreating Demi. Lovato backed to the ropes and taking heavy fire from everywhere, but the champ is game. She's hanging on, jabbing back here and there, running clock, and, somehow, making it to the bell. When it rings, though, Big Choppy's won it 10-8 and leads 58-55 with four to go.

ROUND SEVEN:

Priyanka determined to get the stoppage now. She can smell the gold and she's determined to get it. She's sitting down on everything, backing the champion up with hard shot. Lovato engaging in a fighting retreat. She's giving ground, but firing back enough to exact a price. But, it's Chopra in contro...BOOM! Right hand counter Demi and CHOPRA is steppin' in fence post holes! Lovato opens up the big guns and DOWN GOES PRIYANKA! Chopra down on her back as the champion now heads to a neutral corner. Chopra staring up as the referee counts. Sits up at six. Gets to her feet at eight. Ref gives the challenger the mandatory, then waives on Lovato. Demi charging forward, letting the hands go, ROCKING Chopra with a right hand! Priyanka staggered, looking ready to go, Lovato pouring on fire and it's ALL TOO MUCH! Referee leaps between the fighters and bundles the Indian to safety! It's OVER! And your winner by TKO7 and STILL Unified Bantamweight Champion is Demi Lovato!

AFTER:

Demi looking plenty worse for the wear, but she manages a smile. "What a fight, huh? But, see, this is what I TOLD you. You aren't going to get in there and get physical with me. Try that, and you're going to end up where Chopra did...flat on her back."
