BEFORE:

"It's ridiculous," says Taylor with a shake of the head. "That's what it is. I come in here, win a fight, then dominate Courtney Tailor and she lands a lucky punch...and she's got management and she's fighting regularly and I haven't had a fight SINCE! Ridiculous. And, I'm going to prove just HOW ridiculous when I take out Arterton tonight."

"I'll agree with one thing," says Katy with a nod. "This girl deserves more work. She can fight. But. She's not beating me. Not tonight. Not ANY night."

ROUND ONE:

O'Dell: "Back at ringside and that's 'Going To Hell' by the Pretty Reckless, and here comes the lead singer of that band, the lovely Taylor Momsen..."

Cassie: "And, will you look at THAT, Mac! She HAS an FCBA win!"

McCarthy: "ONE. Against something called a Hermione Corfield..."

Tess: "Who Mac thought was a 'Harry Potter' character..."

McCarthy: "I did no...SHUT UP, WALMART!"

O'Dell: "Drink up, boys, and drink in the lovely Ms. Momsen as she's helped off with the robe to reveal a black number that shows she's been working very, very hard preparing for this one...and, that's 'California Gurls' you hear behind us, and that can only mean that the singer of that tune, 'The Santa Barbara Slugger, Katy Perry is her way to the ring..."

Tess: "Perry, of course, a former Unified Lightweight Champion, but, apparently even SHE isn't safe as Front Street evaluates everything and anything as it moves toward its tenth anniversary..."

McCarthy: "And I am still just bloviated about the fact that Weirdo has lasted almost TEN YEARS around here!"

Cassie: "No doubt there's plenty of BLOVIATING going on..."

O'Dell: "Perry into the ring and helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve to reveal that red number we've seen before. And, the ladies are about ready. Time for some picks. Tess likes Katy. Mac?"

McCarthy: "I'm tempted to pick an upset, since Momsen HAS a win, but, Perry."

O'Dell: "Cassie?"

Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"

O'Dell: "It's unanimous. Let's see if the ladies are right. Momsen on the move early. She's bouncing, snapping out that long jab. Not a surprise, because there aren't a lot of fighters who are lining up to stand in front of Katy Perry. Perry more than willing to play this game, ladies..."

Tess: "No question, Katy can move with the best of them, and, it looks like a war of movement is where we're headed."

O'Dell: "For the moment, anyway. Ladies circling, bouncing, popping forward to fire off a flurry. Exchanges being kept short, though, as Momsen doesn't appear to want to get into a pitched battle at this point. Instead, skirmishing is the order of the day in the first round."

McCarthy: "Palicki would have already had both of these tomato cans flat on their backs..."

Cassie: "Says the girl who knows more about being flat on her back than just about anyone..."

McCarthy: "You LITTLE..."

O'Dell: "Calm down, Mac, and let's not make HBO break out 'Hudson Hawk II: Electric Boogaloo', shall we? Lots of action in this stanza, even if we haven't seen a ton of heavy punches. Both ladies scoring with the jab, moving the feet, and, there's the bell. Close first. Perry gets the 10-9 lead."

ROUND TWO:

O'Dell: "Second begins with more movement. Momsen getting the left on target, following on with rights. Perry right back at her and GETS DROPPED! Momsen an overhand right and Perry dropped to her knees and this place is going absolutely NUTS, ladies..."

McCarthy: "Well, this is the last we'll see of Perry. Weirdo's gonna kick her to the curb for SURE if she loses this one..."

O'Dell: "Taylor to a neutral corner. Count at three. Four. Five. Six. Seven. Katy to her feet at eight. Referee going to give her the mandatory and waive on Taylor, and Momsen moving in with very, very bad intentions. She's banging away with both hands, backing Perry up with hard shot."

Cassie: "Staying sound, though. Not getting sloppy."

O'Dell: "Is not. Instead, she's setting up hard right hands with good left jabs. She's staying patient, working Katy back into the ropes. Now Taylor digging a little body, trying to drop the guard, then going back upstairs. Ten seconds to go in the first. One more flurry from Momsen and there's the bell. Huge round for Taylor."

Tess: "And, she's up 29-28 after two."

ROUND THREE:

O'Dell: "Third begins with Momsen looking to clean up or at least consolidate. Perry still looking somewhat shaky and Taylor taking advantage, walking the older fighter back, sitting down on hard right hands. Momsen not throwing caution to the winds, not with Perry's power, but she's taking the appropriate number of chances..."

Tess: "That sums it up pretty well, Jenny. She doesn't have a lot to lose, so, go for it, but, don't get sloppy."

O'Dell: "And, Taylor hasn't done that. Instead, she's been plenty impressive, working smartly, but piling up both points and punishment while the piling is good. Perry beginning to shake the worst of the damage now, firing back more and more, but Taylor remaining in control."

Cassie: "I've got to think Taylor may be turning some heads here. A knockdown is one thing, but, she's done more than land one punch here..."

O'Dell: "Indeed, and against a Top Five lightweight, a former champion. Taylor's definitely not looking like she doesn't belong in the ring with Perry. In fact, she looks just the opposite. We're down to the final few seconds in the third now, and there's a sharp exchange right before the bell. Momsen wide in the third."

McCarthy: "And the newb leads to Overrated Dancing Hooker 39-37."

ROUND FOUR:

O'Dell: "Back to the war of movement as we start the fourth. Perry's legs are back and she's moving very well again. And, Taylor's moving like she has the entire fight. Definitely an athletic lightweight, is Ms. Momsen, and she's proven to have some power as well."

Tess: "Might be that Cassie's right and some folks are having their eyes opened right now."

O'Dell: "GOOD trade right there with both blondes landing hard right hands. Nobody hurt but lots of sweat sent flying before Taylor circles away to reset. Ladies have been on their toes most of this fight, and both have shown they can fight and fight very well on these terms..."

McCarthy: "If Perry weren't overrated, a girl with ONE FCBA win wouldn't still be in the fight with her!"

O'Dell: "Down to the final thirty seconds of a crisply-paced fourth. It's been a close one, just like the first was. Neither fighter able to establish any kind of space. Ten seconds to go. Good combination by Momsen and there's the bell. Very close, but Taylor gets the points."

Cassie: "And, Taylor's up 49-46 after four."

ROUND FIVE:

O'Dell: "Ladies on the move as we start the fifth. Perry is going to eventually have to turn up the heat here, but, not at the moment. She's willing to box with, play on the terms Taylor prefers. Momsen a nice right hand and PERRY COUNTERS WITH A BOOMING RIGHT and Taylor is HURT!"

Cassie: "I can't believe she's still STANDING..."

O'Dell: "She is, but just barely, and Perry looking to remedy that situation right now, letting the hands go and backing Momsen against the ropes. Taylor with the guard high, hanging on as Katy goes to town. Perry looking for the 'off' switch, but Taylor keeping it hidden pretty well at the moment."

McCarthy: "Kid needs to ride this out, and she'll still be in control."

O'Dell: "And, that's definitely Momsen's thinking. Twenty seconds to go in the fifth. Perry lands a SOLID right hand, but Momsen taking a licking and continuing to tick. Ten seconds left. Taylor going to make it to the bell. There it is. And Perry's claimed the fifth wide, but Momsen lives to fight another day."

Tess: "And continues to lead 58-56."

ROUND SIX:

O'Dell: "Perry putting on a ton of pressure early. Taylor moving pretty well, seems to have the legs back under her, but Katy not boxing with now. She's cutting the ring, looking to get physical. Taylor tying up, forcing a break. Katy right back after her, sitting down on punches, getting power shots home..."

Tess: "Taylor needs to get some space here. Not going bang with Perry."

O'Dell: "But, Katy not GIVING her space. Former champ crowding, thumping some body, going back upstairs and ROCKING TAYLOR WITH A RIGHT HOOK! Momsen's legs do a shimmy! And there's a STRAIGHT RIGHT HAND from Katy and DOWN GOES TAYLOR!"

Cassie: "Ooh. There may not be any getting up from THAT..."

O'Dell: "Katy to a neutral corner. Taylor down on her back after that BOOMING right hand. Referee's count at three. Four. Five. Momsen, eyes wide, staring up at him. Six. Seven. Eight. Not going to happen. Nine. TEN! It's OVER! And your winner by KO6 is 'The Santa Barbara Slugger', Katy Perry!"

McCarthy: "Lucky. Lucky."

AFTER:

O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"

Tess: "I have our winner, Katy Perry, and, Katy, that was tough in there..."

Katy (nodding): "Yeah. She's for real. She can fight and she can hit and if she gets work, she's going to beat a lot of people."

Tess: "But, you got off the deck and came out on top..."

Katy: "If you fight long enough around here, you'll get sent to the canvas. It's not about not getting knocked down, it's about being able to get up and win the fight. I can do that. I've done it before, and I did it again tonight."
