TESS VALMORE

The March Madness was one of the biggest fight cards yet. Whether I’m correct or not, I consider myself knowledgeable about the lightweights and welters. In this card, my lightweight and welter predictions were pretty much of a disaster, while the flyweight and bantam predictions saved me and I finished 20-13 which is not up to par. but above water

There were four title fights. Two titles remained with the holders, while two resulted in new champions. Righetti and Dobrev retained their titles as expected. I was surprised with Ambrosio taking the lightweight title from Winstead. I expect her reign to be short. Stewarts taking the title from Michelle Williams was expected. The odds of Williams continuing her win steak were against her and Stewart was on a hot streak. I might add that Williams was a typical Stewart opponent.   She was ten years older and two inches shorter. Stewart’s win doesn’t change my opinion of her as being the most babied fighter in the FCBA. Once again, the Wiz’s strategy of scheduling easy fights, building a winning streak and then getting a title shot, payed off. I don’ like it, but it works.  It’s hard to argue with success.

In the heavier weights, I was proved wrong by Kostek, DiDonato, Palicki, Baldiwn, Prinsloo, Lima, Gonzalez and Swanepoel. I think the biggest win among the heavier weights was Kendall Jenner’s win over Yvonne Strahovski, which was one of the prime matchups of the night. It should put Kendall in position for a title match, but Lima also threw her hat into that ring. In the welters, Prinsloo and Kostek were the big winners. Of the two, Kostek looks to be the biggest challenger to Righetti

The the flyweights, Carter beat Panettiere in her 100th bout. She is still short of the winning ratio to get into the Hall, but I expect her to get in in the not too distant future. Vanessa Hudgens and Lowndes should maintain their ranking with wins.

The big match in the bantams was Bella Thorne/Lilly bout which Lilly won as she continues towards the Hall Of Fame. Will she get a title shot? Dobrev might be wise to consider someone else. Bellisario had a big win over Robbie which will boost Bellisario and cost Robbie her spot in the top ten

Two bouts that should have never been scheduled went exactly as expected. Lopilato flattened Alba in less than five rounds and Scodelario also took less than five to take care of Pausini. Alba is simply no longer competitive and Pausini has never been competitive. They should be barred from further fighting less they get seriously hurt. Obviously, their managers are not considering their welfare.

Finally, the reports that I was excitingly clapping for Charlize who got involved in a little post fight activity after the Woll bout are a little over-exaggerated.
