Missy Peregrym vs Cobie Smulders

BEFORE: One can argue Missy Peregrym has fallen on the Lookout! Boxing depth chart ever since Evangeline Lilly joined this stable but she gets a rare opportunity to shine on the Canada Day PPV against a familiar TV name who just can't produce inside the ropes. Cobie Smulders hasn't had a multi-fight season in six years so she's always kinda rusty but she rejects the idea the mighty Lookout! bunch picked her as a sacrificial lamb: "Look, Missy has seen better days herself too! She's kinda getting all the love thru reputation alone but she's worn out! WORN OUT! When I beat her senseless everyone will understand she's damaged goods. Gawd, I don't really hate her but c'mon! When you're done, you're DONE!"

Missy Peregrym wears a Habs replica crop top, blue hotpants & red gloves. Long dark brown hair straight, pulled back behind the ears. Cobie Smulders wears a black crop top with white trim, matching hotpants & white gloves. Long dark brown hair wrapped in a thick bun at the back of her head. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the lightweight division.

Round 1:
Missy sets the tone early with some quick jabbing while Cobie's in no position to respond as she refuses to engage in aggressive slugging which allows the fellow brunette to cash in with easy shots up the middle. There's no real urgency about Missy's performance as she seems unfazed by those pre-fight comments and methodically picks her opponent out while Cobie is troubled enough with the southpaw stance and circles the wrong way which enables Peregrym to blast her with the hook from the left and then some. The Lookout stalwart rifles more aerial shots and grinds Smulders to a halt which raises some early jeers from the audience before a quick gut shot makes the Vancouver native wince in pain and just cave in behind a high earmuff while Missy lands more shots up the middle to close out the one-sided round.

Round 2:
Cobies shakes off the early rust and digs into Missy's chest but still eats too many shots over the top before she nails the southpaw brunette with a wild hook on the nose and mounts a quick rally up the chimney. She tags Missy's chin a couple of times but fails to follow through with her jabs and has Peregrym adjusting on the fly. The former champion settles back in mid-range and Smulders just doesn't leap after her which stops her momentum and leads into a back & forth duck n' weave drill during the second minute. Missy threatens more overhand response down the stretch while Cobie sticks to her cautious drill but that's not gonna really upset the odds with Peregrym still running on lean fuel here and not breaking much sweat in the process.

Round 3:
Cobie cracks a solid hook on the jaw but reverts into single-punching ordeal that Missy neutralizes with a quick body assault burst before she misses a hooking put away and gets caught with a nasty slant on the eye. Cobie finds success in close range and bangs more head shots to stuff the Lookout brunette behind a high earmuff thereafter yet she displays poor power supply and has Peregrym beating her for pace outright which triggers another duck & weave action come the second minute. Missy remains in no hurry mode as if she wants to lure Smulders into more attacks but that just doesn't happen at all and the older brunette appears to be satisfied with this lukewarm approach that nets her no gains but avoids serious trouble as well. Missy picks her off with additional shots in the final stretch to counter more jeers from the audience yet she acts like she can smoke Cobie away with one good drive here so we just have to wait for this like it or not, folks!

Round 4:
It's Cobie who suddenly gets aggressive early in the fourth as she bangs in a harpoon series downstairs and tries to muscle Peregrym away in close range. She keeps blasting quick shots to the body but Missy responds in similar fashion and both women clash heads which forces a brief delay in action. Cobie hauls in the first big punch thereafter and nails her foe on the chin but she wants to do some damage downstairs and forces Missy into a looping response that otherwise misses the target. Smulders plucks more leather on the money and tries to back Missy onto the ropes but the southpaw brunette escapes the trap and circles back forcing Cobie into some hassling mode. However the Vancouver native can't match the speed of the Lookout woman and just whiffs on another charging effort while Peregrym whacks her across the mouth to close out the round.

Round 5:
More aggressive swings from Cobie who clatters into the fellow brunette's body before she almost lands another head-butt, Missy finally becomes more urgent and bangs a left hook on the nose while settling into close range dispute however Cobie's harpoons make the difference after all and sink Missy onto the ropes where she adds a belting cross on the solar plexus. Ugh! Missy's laid-back approach gets her into trouble as Cobie ups the workload and connects with the jugs before blasting more shots upstairs. She tags the chin again and blocks off immediate response when she tears a bloody patch above Missy's left eye. Another big hook on the mouth and Peregrym sinks into spasms while she gets NAILED on the solar plexus again AND HAS TO TAKE A KNEE moments later!! Uh-oh! Major surprise on the way? Cobie yells out at the Toronto audience as Missy takes the full eight count but still appears to be unfazed by the circumstances and just bolts away from Smulders' KO efforts that fall short of the mark due to the veteran's subpar mobility. Nonetherless it's advantage Smulders at half-distance!

Round 6:
So much for that advantage as Missy rolls out with the aerial swing and Cobie realizes she's unleashed the beast when it's too late. She jumps into another aggressive action hoping to pile more misery on the champion southpaw when she gets ROCKED by a vicious blast that nails her on both temples and stuffs on the heels on the spot. Another quick hook on the chin opens the floodgates before Missy powers ahead to bounce off the jaw with one uppercut after another! Cobie just can't use her mobility to escape the Habs wrath and gets punished straight up the middle with her guard collapsing in past-prime free agency manner. Missy takes it all the way to slump Cobie into spasms before blasting her across the nose for the money shot. Ugh! Cobie's almost out on her feet now and she doesn't even notice when Peregrym puts her away with a left hook on the eye!!! DOWN GOES SMULDERS LIKE A SACK OF POTATOES and the ref doesn't even bother with the count! KO6 Missy Peregrym!!!

AFTER: Missy allows herself a brief smile but doesn't want to pile more misery on the vanquished foe until she actually gets interviewed by Erin Andrews: "Look, this was like a glorified gym session for me. Why should I waste this girl in the opening round? She's a nobody! Really! I heard all that talk of hers before the fight but I'm soooo above this. She's got a glass chin and she knows it. I think she does. Otherwise she's just a random name who has this new show on TV I keep hearing about but man, she couldn't even upstage Alyson Hannigan like ten years ago! And you call this a career? Gimme a break!"
