Eiza Gonzales versus Yvonne Strahovski

Before: Yvonne hammering home the fact that Eiza's just a tune up for her. "She’s not a special fighter. I don't owe her any particular respect. I need somebody who can handle herself to give me some rounds so I can go take the title from the next girl and that's it. Frankly, the way she's been going, it's hard not to this as a mistake on her part.”

“If Yvonne wins, nothing changes. If I win, I’m the biggest story this year!” Eiza defiant, “Remember, she didn’t knock me out in January because it would look good. She knocked me out because there was no other way for her to win. This time, I’m planting her face in the sand!”

R1: Eiza stepping into a ramming jab, backs Yvonne to the ropes and sets up shop. Gonzalez setting her feet, pumps right/left, bashing away at her blonde. Strahovski just standing there, blocking what she can, listless as Eiza gloves up on the blonde's shoulders on occasion to reset the action. Down the stretch, Yvonne gets the timing down as Gonzalez is completely without fear and blonde turns on a slicing counter hook to the right eye to put Eiza wobbly butt! Gonzalez stops punching --crowd roars as Strahovski gathers her up and spins HER into the ropes, then lathers away with blonde abandon! Eiza stunned, shocked to have been hurt, late surge not enough to steal the round for Yvonne, though.

R2: Rangy action through 2/3s the round - both girls looking to show footwork, using the sand, long jabs to spread each other out. Final minute, Yvonne with a licking wide left hook, CRASHING right cross draws first blood - staggering Eiza and putting a tremor in her trunks. Gonzalez stooped forward, earmuffed up - Yvonne squaring away, shoulders rotating, fists chugging up and in, shaking her at the bell. Strahovski loving it - helps herself to a chunk of buttock to see a woozy Gonzalez back to her corner in style.

R3: Eiza spritzing jabs, mixing in short right hands, stepping left, Yvonne turning, not getting off. Second minute, quick one-two surprises Strahovski again - she covers up, tilts forward and eats a BEEFY Gonzalez left uppercut. YVONNE'S HURT! Straho wobbling forward, face in gloves - Gonzalez sidesteps with a draping left arm around the Aussie's hips to swing her into the ropes. Eiza REEFING bodyshots, great heartstopping rights and lefts on the waist as Yvonne droops forward in shock. Right uppercut/left uppercut tic-toc: STRAHO'S SENT TO ALL FOURS! Yvonne shakes off the KO, beats the count - but she's ramshackle, swaying on the spot and ON COMES EIZA! Gonzalez carving her way into Strahovski with heartless rights and lefts on the breadbasket, crippling and stiffening the former champ. Yvonne rag-doll, reaching her left to pull Eiza’s head in, but the Latina won't have it, smashing away at the ribs, hooking the liver then doubling up hook-on-face to drape Straho backwards. Yvonne swaying in the breeze, hands loose, ineffective in front of her face as Eiza's marauding punches clang away to jaw but can't coax the give out of those long blonde legs.

R4: Yvonne labouring, sallies forth hands up, palms out, weight on front foot with the right foot well back. Strahovski just dabbing either hand at Gonzalez just touching at her, making her flinch - then poking the occasional jab or straight right in between mitts. Eiza keeping hands nice and high, bobbing her head, jabbing back but having the punches parried by a palms-out guard. Takes Gonzalez a minute to negotiate her way in - second minute sees her land a series of hard, swinging roundhouse rights to Straho's ribs. Final minute - Yvonee doubling up her jab, flicking it at Eiza's face and sliding back from aggressive brunette: Strahovski able to walk Gonzalez into a GORGEOUS counteruppercut, shortcircuiting Latina's limbs. Eiza’s eyes instantly glassy, feet stamping, knees bending and locking: she's desperately hurt. Yvonne able to big-girl Gonzalez into ropes with palms-on-shoulders, then lay down a fearful strapping: brunette sitting in strands, covering up her head and sponging a lanky shellacking as crowd bellows in approval. Bell: Strahovski muscling up and chesting into Gonzalez lets her hear all about it until ref pulls the blonde off.

R5: Furious two way brawling breaks out as both girls want to set the tone for the second half. Eiza leaning in with rights, leaning out with rising, licking lefts, using palm-shoves against Yvonne's shoulders to turn her midring. Strahovski jabbing rapidly to the chest and stomach, turning on sizzling rights, back with clanging short hooks - deadly rhythm for both women as chins are shaved, backsides shook. Down the stretch: Yvonne ducking down, catching Eiza a right hand alongside the jaw as brunette misses righty over the top, Straho up out of the crouch with a bashing left hook and DOWN GOES GONZALEZ! Eiza dropped hard at the ropes, legs up high as she rocks onto her back - Strahovski smoldering with satisfaction at the sight. Gonzalez shakes it off, runs the final few moments, back to her corner with a concerned, determined look.

R6: Yvonne standing with 10 seconds to go in the break - storms across the ring and starts patting Eiza down the stinging jab. Gonzalez hands up, blocking and parrying as she slides to her right along the ropes, Strahovski stepping with her. Eiza cute off the ropes, slipping Yvonne's jab, walking her in and poking a short stab-and-retract right to the mouth, blonde giving up the touches as she tries to get into perfect position to land her own right. Midway through, Strahovski unleashes the cross, Gonzalez reads it, slips under, back with a clanging hook: turning her shoulder into a meaty clock on the chin that locks up the Aussie's legs. Yvonne reaching to clinch, Eiza wraps up and hip-tosses her prey into the ropes, reversing position. Gonzalez working thick out of the wrap, Straho riding her right hand over shoulder, Mexican beauty stuffing right hands to breadbasket, right hands to rack as work gets done in close. Yvonne tested in this middle minute, beaten mercilessly as Eiza holds and hits, now plugging home rights, then shifting to heave home lefts as the Hall-of-Famer wilts and takes. Final minute - STRAHOVSKI BRAWLS BACK! Yvonne groggy, open-mouthed, picks up a workmanlike right uppercut, rakes the ribs a slashing hook, punching and walking Eiza back to midring. Slobberknocker down the stretch as disbelieving Gonzalez faces into short right crosses, hooks and strafing bodyshots, finishing up on her heels, arms crossed, just twisting her torso side to side to ride out the storm.

R7: Shutout Eiza. Yvonne no longer able to keep Gonzalez off her and unable to compete on the inside – she’s walked across the sand to the ropes and systematically mauled. Eiza with her head under Yvonne's chin, hands free as an arm pathetically rides around the upperback: able to rip and snatch out of her crouch, tearing up that torso. Curling lefts or rights getting plenty of leverage on short, smudging blows upstairs, then back to that creamy midsection. Strahovski's eyes often closed in a tight grimace, just standing there soaking it up like she's got no say in the matter. Gonzalez raising her right mitt after the bell, sends Yvonne achy to her corner again as she proves just who came out of that sixth round meatgrinder the best .

R8: Yvonne slowly out of her corner, Eiza well across the ring at contact, spitting a brace of jabs and abrupt right crosses punches the blonde to ropes, Strahovski lolling back against the cables, then slumping forward as Gonzalez shifts to bodywork. Eiza short, muscular with her punches, busy: she squares away with tidy, clobbering lefts and rights bouncing off rigid blonde torso. Gonzalez clubbing, swatting, cuffing at Straho with rising, curling blows. Yvonne stooping forward behind her mitts as her arms are pounded into submission, ribs and chest subjugated. As Strahovski's guard loosens, Eiza starts squirting nasty little right and left uppercuts through, picking blonde up as she's stooping forward. All one way, Gonzalez set strong, working hard, staying compact, pushing Yvonne to bounce her gently off the ropes to reset. Final minute, right uppercut bounces off Strahovski's face, knocking it back, pounding the mouthpiece off her teeth. Left uppercut jostles Yvonne's chin; chopping short right takes her cheek, tilts her woozy against ropes. Eiza just chopping her fists tidy touching, touching, touching her and YVONNE GOES DOWN! Strahovksi just folding forward in stages, out on her feet as Eiza’s constant drubbing drums blonde to sleep. We’ve got a new frontrunner for Upset of the Year with a KO8 for Eiza Gonalez!

After: BREAKOUT win for Eiza, propelling herself firmly into the lightweight title picture! Matching Swift’s performance against Yvonne and going where Alexis has never dared to go before. Eiza has her pick of the lightweight division, and she’s made this her summer!
