Charlize Theron vs. Maria Grazia Cucinotta (Cougar Bout)

BEFORE:

Hard to believe that the iconic Italian beauty has had only ONE FCBA fight, and that was nearly twenty years ago. But, she has and it was. December, 17, 1999. The opponent? One Charlize Theron. The fight went to the cards. Theron won, much to the dismay of the pro-Maria crowd. And, now, almost twenty years later, with Theron having become "The GOAT" and Cucinotta having spent most of her time on various European circuits and creating a feared reputation on the carpets, blonde and brunette meet again in an FCBA ring.

"I always thought I'd fight more in the FCBA," says Maria with a smile. "But, other opportunities presented themselves, and I took advantage of those, and, wow. Two decades have gone by. But. I'm back now, and they've got a Cougar Division, so. Who knows? Maybe I'll stick around."

"I remember fighting her well," says the blonde with a smile of her own. "One of the hardest hitters I've ever been in against. And. I've been in with them ALL."

ROUND ONE:

Charlize looking to get her box on. No surprise. Maria couldn't match the blonde's class twenty years ago. She's CERTAINLY not going to do it now. And, at 51, she doesn't plan to try. She's not looking to go ten. She's looking to stop Theron early. And, that strategy, though not a surprise, causes the blonde some problems. Because, Maria is damning any and all torpedoes. She's not put off by Charlize's jabs or her follow on rights. She's walking right through them, crowding the blonde, getting physical with her. Theron forced to give ground to the heavier, stronger woman, thrown to the defensive repeatedly. Can't get her feet set or hold canvas. Maria missing a lot of punches, as Charlize dodges and parries, but she's landing enough to keep Theron on the back foot to the bell. When it rings, Cucinotta has it close and she's got the 10-9 lead.

ROUND TWO:

More of the same from MGC. She's getting physical, taking the GOAT out of her game. Charlize trying to slow this down, landing some hard shot in the effort, but, she can't stop the Italian's forward motion. Clearly, Maria's risking all for the early stoppage, and in doing so, she's making things very hard on the blonde. Theron beginning to find some answers, though. She's landing more than she did in the first, and, by giving a little ground here and there, she's able to set the feet to get some power behind those shots. But, Maria still hitting harder, if not as frequently. Brunette still missing plenty, but, what she's landing is good stuff. Round is close throughout, with neither fighter able to gain any real advantage. When the bell rings, it's Theron who's done just a bit more and evens the fight at 19.

ROUND THREE:

Maria still coming. Statuesque beauty is likely to slow down at some point, but, not yet. She's as aggressive as ever, bringing the physical to the blonde. Charlize again giving ground in spots so that she can get the feet set and fire back. And, when she does, she's slowing Maria with hard shot. But. Not stopping her. Italian continues the frontal assault, looking for the shot that changes everything. BOOM! Right hand, CHARLIZE! Theron wobbles Cucinotta and then lets the hands go in a big way. Maria staggered backward and then DROPPED by an overhand right! Cucinotta down on her back. Theron to a neutral corner. Maria tries sitting up at six, but can't manage to do it. Instead, she simply drapes an arm across her eyes and waits for the referee to finish. It's OVER! And your winner by KO3 is Charlize Theron!

AFTER:

The GOAT a bit scuffed but smiling in the post-fight. "She might hit harder now than she did in 1999," says Theron. "She was determined to get me, and, I'll tell you, some of those shots would have put a lot of girls down. But. Not THIS girl. Not tonight."
