1. Alyssa Lynch vs Diana Korkunova II (Bantamweight)

Alyssa:

(23, 5’7, 120, 23:8 FCBA, VIXENs)

Diana:
(21, 5’5, 18:5 BBU, SIRENs)

BEFORE:
“I’ve already beaten her once before last year, and apparently now she's the BBU Flyweight champion? I wonder what that makes me?” Alyssa laughs at the pre-fight press conference. “Both of us have certainly come a long way, and if Diana wants another shot at taking me down, she can have it tonight, champ or not.”

As she enters the room, Diana hoisting the BBU Flyweight championship over her shoulder, looking confident as ever after her recent win over a tough Maisie Williams.

“Not just both of us,” Diana says. “My entire stable has come a long way. I have a good feeling we’re finally going to beat the Vixens this year, and allow me to get the ball rolling by beating Alyssa.”

Semi-tense face-off as the two brunettes come together for the official staredown. Alyssa with a two-inch height advantage but Diana packing more power in her stockier frame. They shake hands and I’d say we’re off to a perfect start to this annual Birthday Bash.

Later in the ring, Alyssa in red bikini top, hot denim short shorts and black gloves, hair tied into a ponytail, whereas Diana in a grey sports bra, yellow gym tights and red gloves. HERE we go with ten rounds of Bantamweight action and the first fight of the evening!

ROUND 1:
Champion or not, Diana still coming into this fight at a two-inch height disadvantage. It shows in the early game, with Alyssa controlling her movement with a JAB sent in repeatedly from afar, almost the same way they started fighting way back in 2018. Diana getting tagged on the face even as she tries to close the distance, her slightly bulkier frame meaning she’s got some power behind her shots if she can manage to land them. Lynch looking confident with that smirk on her face as she lands another punch into the cheek - this rematch might go the Vixen’s way if she can keep this up. But Korkunova rushing in in the final minute, determined to change the outcome. Alyssa overconfident, gets caught with a straight hand to the arms before she’s stumbled by a heavy hook to the side of the head. Diana rushes in to make up for lost time, pounds away shots on the sternum before Lynch can get away. Remaining seconds have Alyssa looking shaken as she fends off a flurry of jabs from the Flyweight champion. Korkunova’s corner celebrating at the end of the bell, having stolen the first round.

ROUND 2:
Lynch not playing around no more, uses her agility to stay away and pepper Diana with jabs from afar. If Diana was having trouble landing shots before, the first two minutes is much worse for the Siren, playing catch-up to Alyssa, who always remains two steps ahead. Diana grunting as she eats another one-two slaps of leather to the lips, slows down and reevaluates her foe’s position as Lynch grows bold, rushes in and lands more shots to the arms, even squeezes a quick jab combo to the stomach. Diana switching to her own jab at the last moment, and the two girls exchange fire in rapid tandem to round off the second round. Lynch taking it wide by our books.

ROUND 3:
Girls circle, Alyssa clearly the faster, more mobile of the pair, but now spooked by Diana’s own heavy jabs that must surely hurt when they land on the face. Diana powering another one through her defences at the end of the first minute, landing clean on the nose. Lynch dazed and retreating, but Diana opting not to give chase, continue the barrage with long range artillery. Alyssa still using lighter footwork, however, evades a majority then bashes the arms in with a flurry and another right hook, rattling Diana’s guard. Not many points scored from both ladies this round, but Diana ends it strong with another right hand cross smack into the middle of Alyssa's body, forcing her back, stunned.

ROUND 4:
So far, a pretty even fight, and Alyssa looking slightly panicked as she realises she’s in for a much tougher contest compared to before. She takes another jab series to the arms before almost getting her head blown off by a lunging hook from Korkunova. Thankfully the Vixen ducked and weaved at the correct time, counters with her own punting right glove sharp to the Siren’s nose before shooting Diana's chin upwards with a snap uppercut! Diana grunts but keeps on swinging, shrugs off the rest of the blows and BLASTS Alyssa across the face with a nasty hook in turn! OUCH! Lynch goes stumbling from her opponent’s power but also the fact that Diana didn’t even flinch back there! Diana chases after her, but Alyssa staying away, firing defensive punches into her arms and body and manages to stave off disaster. Close round overall but we still think Lynch might take it close, though the brunette looks battered up and not exactly brimming with confidence on her way back to corner.

ROUND 5:
What’s this? It’s an absolute RUSH from Diana Korkunova, who probably smells blood! Alyssa ROCKED by an early cross to the arms, and then a spattering of jabs shot into her body as the Vixen scrambles to cover up and get moving. Diana staying on her, however, wicked combos into Alyssa's rapidly deteriorating guard and generally throwing the leaner woman about with loud grunts and yelps. Alyssa getting caught on the ropes at the end of the first minute, seconds to cover up with Diana SLAMS into her with another heavy hook to the body, with one more thump to the tummy folds her over. Diana swings a hook to Alyssa's face and DOWN SHE GOESSS, absolutely SPRAWLED to Korkunova's feet! Diana left standing and breathing hard! Referee starting the count as Diana stumbles back to her corner. Alyssa struggling to get back up, groaning as she makes it up to her knees, but the rest of her head, body hanging draped over the middle rope as the count passes 10! Referee waves it over!!

Official Decision: Diana Korkunova defeats Alyssa Lynch via KO5!

AFTER:

A strong start to tonight’s event and an even stronger statement made by the SIRENs as they start this mini-stable war with a bang! Alyssa’s overconfidence lost her this rematch, and it just might be metaphoric of the rest of her stablemates if they’re careful tonight.

Diana jumping up in joy and then running over to her corner, where she’s embraced by teammates and Head Trainer Henry Carvill alike. Alyssa collapses back down onto her side, where she lies there, breathing hard, staring up at the ceiling lights. Not the best way to end the year for the brunette, that’s for sure.

But Diana acting gracious here compared to last year’s opposite result, when Alyssa effectively ignored her once she had her laid out on canvas. Diana helping her up with a hand, then the two women share an embrace, promising to break the tie with a third match sometime in the future.
