Results: Lookout!; Story: Caspian & The Dollhouse

BEFORE:
"I would like to start by thanking Kate for accepting my challenge..." Jessica says at the press conference with a smile as she eyes her Brit opponent from across the table. "It feels great to be the younger fighter in the ring for a change!"

This comment draws chuckles from the room, though we don't think Kate Beckinsale took it as a compliment from the strained look on her face. Without pausing, Jessica continues:

"Honestly though, Kate may be 46 but she still looks...I dunno...30?!… I mean, just look at her! I may have a few years on her but she still has three inches and about 70 fights on ME… So I'm definitely prepared for a tough challenge and hopefully, I can start 2020 with a pretty damn impressive win. Bring it, Kate!"

Beckinsale's turn at the mic is full of that dry British wit as well, some veiled threats directed at Chastain so that the American doesn't really know whether to feel flattered or flat out insulted.

"Well, times have certainly changed around here. And look at Chastain, still clambouring into the ring despite her age. At least she's gotten some fights under her belt - she wouldn't stand a chance otherwise. I think Jessica is one hell of an actress and certainly wouldn't want her success in front of the camera to get diminished because of tonight!"

Fighting words whichever way you want to interpret Kate’s meaning, and the two actresses from across the Atlantic finally meet at the podium with hands on hips, confident smirks in the other’s direction. Chastain has her long auburn hair loose around her shoulders, whereas Kate is better known for her dark brown frills and perm around her handsome face.

Hours later, Chastain is first to enter the arena, walking down the ramp in her flaming red sports bra and long tights, pursing her lips and pointing out at the rafters in order to get the fans’ positive reaction. She may be turning 43 in March this year, but that hasn’t stopped her from finding success in the ring.

Beckinsale on the other hand has very little left to prove in her already long career. She certainly didn’t expect to be having this much ring time after joining the Vixens just last year as Head of Training and Communications. She’s wearing a dark blue sports bra, sunflower yellow bikini tights that show off her toned body, especially for someone about to hit 47 this year.

Ladies come together one last time as the referee drones off about the rules. Let’s get this fight started, shall we? HERE we go with ten rounds of Bantamweight action!

ROUND 1:
Chastain rightly pointed out the pros and cons of going into this fight, with Kate’s height advantage and longer reach going to be the main problems for her to overcome. That imbalance rears its ugly head in the very first round, with Kate keeping her at range with frequent jabs towards her head, the Brit exploding into furious action each time Jessica tries to close distance and bang with her up close. The Dollhouse corner must have instructed their girl to wade in hard and fast if possible to nullify Beckinsale’s shoulder reach, but at this point so early and fresh in the fight, all Chastain gets for her troubles is plenty of grunts and reddened cheeks by the end of three minutes, with Kate having an excellent and promising opening round.

ROUND 2:
Jessica caught in the wind as a result, with a neither-here-nor-there offensive as Kate decides to push her own advantage. Chastain staying back early this time, but did not anticipate the Brit flying forward all of a sudden, before shocking her with blows to the middle of her arms, another low hook crashing into her side, then more powerful swings trying to make contact with Jessica’s head but luckily only finding her arms. Chastain also considered a heavy-hitter in most circles, just not as effective when you have an energetic taller woman who’s staring down the barrel at you. Thus, the Doll can only weather and scoot about the ring this time, trying to figure out holes in Kate’s defences as she returns fire with a couple of jabs here and there to the face and body, but overall just takes more punishment than she dishes out. Beckinsale with another wide round, which spells trouble for Jess if she doesn’t get her act together.

ROUND 3:
Chastain finally getting into the groove of the action when she blocks an early series of punches from Kate before immediately jamming her right hand back into the Brit’s lips. Kate did not anticipate that combination of speed and power, her head pushed back suddenly with a grunt and then, it’s all downhill for the Vixen. Kate having to fend off more quick shots to her face as Jessica shows everyone that she can do aggression too, pestering the older woman with a plentitude of jabs all over. Beckinsale’s height becoming a liability all of a sudden as she covers her head fully on her way back but leaves the rest of her body exposed as a result - an easy target for the smaller Chastain to slam blows into the Brit’s belly left-right-left, till the bell rings and Chastain finally takes a well-deserved round for herself.

ROUND 4:
Kate back to keeping her distance, or at least trying to, using her longer legs to get away from Jessica’s advance. Plenty of stamina left in the tank for someone over 40, with Chastain not about to lose sight of her foe, and goes trailing after Kate with more jab-jab-cross combos. But Beckinsale not as troubled like the last round where she got caught with her pants down in close quarters, this time staying one step ahead and rocking Chastain to her cheek with jab after jab. It’s only by Chastain’s strong insistence that she still manages to get in some choice hooks off the body, almost backing Kate into a corner and forcing her to duck, weave and parry to fend off her younger assailant. Too bad that the bell rings too soon, with Kate narrowly scratching out a lead due to her earlier dominance.

ROUND 5:
But Ms Beckinsale just can’t quite compete with her youthful counterpart. Chastain STILL moving forward like she’s 20-years-old, a full tank of stamina as she SLAMS into Kate in the opening seconds of the fifth, her two jabs blocked but then she scores with a hook swung low into the Brit’s body. Kate lets out a grunt, folded over to one side as she stands rooted to one spot, more than enough time for Jessica to batter down the hatches, get into her face again and SWING away! Overzealous play, however, as Kate simply turtles up from the assault, tries to go in for the clinch, whilst Jessica is wasting energy slamming punches into the side of her head and off the back. Not as targeted an approach we’d like to see, but it gets the job done in the end: both women wrapped up in the final thirty seconds, catching their breaths in each other’s arms and taking turns pushing and pulling at shoulders. No other major development this round, but it’s more than enough for Chastain to claim it wide.

ROUND 6:
Kate’s age becoming more and more of a limiting factor as she continues to step into the ring with younger, faster and stronger women. Chastain going to work on her body whenever she gets in range, another step-in blast to the forearms and then a follow-up uppercut that’s packed into the Brit’s tummy, leaving Kate groaning and backing away. The Vixen has no answer yet for keeping her opponent at bay, all those quick jabs doing little to dissuade Jessica from storming forward into the castle. And those abs of Kate’s can only do so much to weather this red storm, with another late left-right hook combo to the body has Kate backed up into the ropes, her mouth open slightly as she tries to deal with the pain jolting through the rest of her body. Chastain however mercilessly (or mercifully) steps in fast, WHACKS the older woman with a clean shot to the cheek, which sends her further spiraling down the ropes. Another BIG hand connects with Kate’s face, which sends her SPRAWLED down to the canvas, reduced to a dishevelled heap of arms, legs and brown hair flying in all directions as Kate Beckinsale gets KNOCKED THE f*ck DOWN! Chastain putting force into those punches and it shows! Kate left groaning on all fours, barely able to lift her head as the referee passes the count of 10! It’s all over!!

Official Decision: Jessica Chastain defeats Kate Beckinsale via KO6!

AFTER:
A modest celebration Jessica breaks into a smile, waves to the crowd as she confidently struts back to her corner. It’s like she hasn’t even broken a sweat in there as she beams to Carmen Electra and embraces the rest of her teammates.

Kisses still being blown from the Dollhouse corner as quite the opposite occurs at the other end, with Kate having to be helped to sit up, to rest her back against the bottom ropes. The Head Vixen looks slightly disappointed as her loss sinks in, but more importantly, the aging matriarch is simply trying to catch her breath to make sure she ain’t about to have a heart attack from all that exertion.

Compliments however are exchanged when Jessica finally walks over, offers her thanks for putting in their best effort tonight. Regardless of the road going forward, it looks like Kate’s gloves are due to be hung up soon perhaps, whereas Chastain might have a few more years left in her. Later, the the redhead pauses by ringside to speak to reporters. “I was on fire today! It took me a few rounds to figure out how to approach her…but I think I was pretty effective after that….I mean, the results speak for themselves.” She laughs. “Kate is great and I can only dream of still being as good as her at 46….but for now, I want to use the few years I DO have to do this more….you’ll definitely see more of me in the ring this year! Promise!” And with that, the victorious Chastain waves again to her fans around the ring before making her way backstage followed by her Dollhouse team and one happy looking Carmen Electra.
