Michelle Williams vs. Isabela Moner

(Words: Front Street / Results: Lookout!)

BEFORE:

"Yeah," says Isabela with a smile. "I've done well so far in the FCBA. But, it's time to step up the level of competition. And, that's what I'll do tonight. And, I'll also prove I'm READY for girls like Mishy."

"What the HELL," asks Michelle with a shake of the head, "Is an Isabela Moner? I mean, seriously? Where do they GET these girls? Oh, well. After tonight, no one will need to remember her name, you know?"

ROUND ONE:

Moner makes with the legs early, using all those quicks, but, Mishy's been there, beaten the crap out of THAT. She starts cutting the ring and letting the brunette have it with both hands, boxing like the Hall of Famer she is, tossing Moner onto the defensive and keeping her there with suppressive fire. Isabela's corner shouting at her to get off, but there's too much going on in front of her. Michelle's building combinations beautifully, sticking the jab home, following with rights, sending barrage after barrage of accurate stuff at her much-younger rival. Moner has ZERO answers as the round goes along, her few early flurries the only thing stopping her from being shut out completely when the bell rings. It's Michelle and wide in the first, as the blonde takes the 10-9 lead.

ROUND TWO:

Mishy's got the geometry and the timing down and she's taking the brunette to the woodshe...BOOM! Rightg hand, Moner! Isabela keyholes a right hand and MICHELLE IS HURT! Isabela all in immediately, throwing everything she has at the blonde and DOWN GOES MICHELLE! Right hook sends Williams to all fours and the crowd going NUTS! Moner strutting back to the corner with her arms raised in triumph. Michelle watches the ref as he counts, taking every last second and rising at nine. Blonde takes the mandatory and the referee waives on Isabela. Moner a buzz saw, tossing flurry after flurry at the wobbly blonde, trying to finish this thing. But, Michelle showing all the slick defense you'd expect from a Hall of Famer. She takes a pounding, but she makes it to the bell, staying alive but dropping the round 10-8, which puts Moner up 19-18.

ROUND THREE:

Moner on the attack. She wants to get Michelle out of there, because, no matter WHO you are, there's not much percentage in going to the cards against Michelle Williams. Mishy all defense. High guard, Giving ground, doing just enough in spots to keep the referee from thinking about stopping this. Moner showing quite a bit of maturity for an 18-year-old with just a handful of fights. She's aggressive, but rarely sloppy. Instead, she's setting up her punches nicely, not giving the blonde a lot of openings for counters. It's excellent stuff from the little brunette, and she's able to sustain it for the entire three minutes. When the bell finally rings, there's a trickle of blood from Williams' nose and Moner has taken the round via shutout to expand her lead to 29-27.

ROUND FOUR:

Moner right back at Michelle, but now Williams banging back. Mishy seem to have some leg back under her, and it's making a big difference. Now, she's giving as good as she gets in some long exchanges that mark the first minute of the round. After that, Isabela shows more maturity. Realizing Michelle's shaken the worst of the damage, the brunette disengages and gets moving. She's showing the legs and those quicks, bouncing all over the place. Michelle forced to use her own legs in an effort to bring the brunette to battle, and, while she's able to cut the ring here and there, Moner spends most of her time in open ocean jabbing, stopping, popping, then getting out of Dodge. Michelle resolute, working the feet, trying to recreate round one, but, she mostly can't, thus, at the bell, Moner's taken a third straight round to lead 39-36.

ROUND FIVE:

More of the same. Moner on the move, Michelle stalking her. Williams' legs looking all the way back now, and that's making a difference. She's not cornering Isabela as effectively as she did in the first, but she IS cutting the ring effectively now, creating free fire situations that she's able to gain advantage in. Moner still working the feet hard. She doesn't want to box with Michelle. She does OK when she's forced to, but there's no question Williams is getting the better of things on those terms. It's when Isabela can move that she's able to trouble the Hall of Famer, and, unfortunately for the brunette, she's not able to do that nearly as much as she'd like in the fifth stanza. As a result, though it's competitive, Mishy gets back on the board, taking the points and cutting the brunette's lead to 48-46 at the half.

ROUND SIX:

Moner on the move. Briefly. Because, Mishy's anticipating now, cutting, using her veteran wiles to offset Isabela's speed and bring the brunette to battle. And, when Moner is flat-footed with nowhere to go, she's forced to box with. And, that is not going to go well. Not well at all. Instead, Williams takes command, giving the younger woman a thorough thumping. Moner finding precious little time and space to counter and few opportunities to get to open canvas. And, even when she manages to get room room to move, the blonde quickly takes it away and forces disadvantageous terms on her. Final minute is either hard to watch or great to watch depending on which corner you're standing in. It's ALL Williams. Isabela isn't hurt, but she's getting picked apart by a fighter who's as good at that as any who's ever graced an FCBA ring. At the bell, Williams has it wide, but, the brunette still leads 57-56.

ROUND SEVEN:

Mishy even more aggressive. She's after Isabela in a big way, not chasing her, but stalking her brilliantly, bringing her to battle again and again, letting her have it with hard, accurate combinations. Moner all defense, trying to figure a way to get this turned around, but unable to do so. Instead, she's getting her lunch money taken away. And, then beaten over the head with the lunch Williams buys with same. After about 45 seconds of this...BOOM! Right hand, Michelle and Isabela is HURT! Moner wobbles and MISHY DROPS HER WITH A LEFT HOOK! It's an absolutely perfect punch, slipping behind the brunette's guard to detonate on her chin. Any cursory look at that thing on replay makes it clear Isabela isn't getting up. And, she's not. The brunette is still down and out when the count passes her by. It's OVER! And your winner by KO7 is Michelle Williams!

AFTER:

Mishy dismissive in the post-fight. "This is what I'm talking about," she says with a shake of the head. "They find these girls god knows where and toss them in the ring with ME? What do you THINK is going to happen? She's going to get starched and then forgotten just like...what's her name again? See? That was fast."
