Brie Larson: 30 years old, 5’7”, 11-5 since 2017, Fates Boxing

Alyson Michalka: 30 years old, 5’8”, 32-16 since 2010, Bazz Fight Club

Before:

Two of the top blondes at bantamweight collide tonight in the hopes of inserting themselves into the title picture. Alyson is slightly taller, but Brie is also one of the taller girls of the bantamweight division. Their press conference is uneventful, and it's clear that the two girls are much, much more interested in fighting than the media.

When the time comes for the two girls to get into the ring, Michalka has elected for a green sports bra and gloves with black trunks while Larson went for an all-white outfit. They touch gloves and the bell rings, and off we go.

Round 1:

Both blonde actresses on the taller end of the bantamweight division and they start the match circling, each trying to get a gauge of the other’s range. Michalka and Larson both jab at each other to start with neither girl landing much more than glancing blows for the first minute. Midway through the second, Larson fakes right, then goes left when Michalka falls for the fake and Larson slips a right through to Alyson’s chin. Michalka takes a half-step backwards and Larson connects with a hard left into her opponent’s body. Brie chances a right to Alyson’s head but the bigger blonde gets out of the way and absolutely smokes Brie with a right! Larson staggered and Michalka drives a big left into Brie’s jaw and Larson’s legs wobble as she’s careening back into the ropes where Michalka pounces on the vulnerable blonde. Alyson driving rights and lefts into Brie as the Avenger struggles but eventually manages to clinch. The referee separates the two girls and for the rest of the round, Larson keeps her distance. The bell dings and Alyson goes back to her corner fairly content after a strong first round, winning it on points, wide.

Round 2:

Larson gets a talking to in her corner from Fates, and the message is clear – she doesn’t have the reach advantage and needs to alter her style or just get dominated by Michalka. Both blondes start the action in the second round a bit quicker than the first, circling for a full rotation around the ring before Alyson bullies Brie into the ropes with a strong left-right combo, driving her blonde opponent backwards. Michalka throws a right at Larson’s head but the smaller girl ducks and clips Alyson’s chin with an uppercut, and now it’s Alyson who’s retreating as on comes Brie. Larson advancing and driving punches into Michalka’s body, knocking her into the ropes and pummeling her body until Alyson clinches. The referee gets the two girls apart and they return to circling for the final seconds of the round. The judges determine that Larson won the round on points, wide, tying us all up.

Round 3:

Larson and Michalka both take a little bit of extra time getting out of their corners, slowing down from the previous round. Brie starts diving in and out, trying to break down the bigger girl’s defenses. Alyson limits the damage from the smaller blonde’s blows and keeps Larson in front of her, jabbing at the other girl and striking her just below her left eye. Michalka immediately follows up with a left cross that snaps Larson’s head to her left. Brie drops back with her guard up but Alyson buries a vicious right straight into the Avenger’s stomach that drives the air out of the other blonde’s lungs and opens up her guard for just long enough to allow Michalka to connect with an uppercut that drops Brie on her back for an early knockdown! Alyson moves to her corner as the referee starts to count over Brie. The Fates fighter grits her teeth as she moves around on the ground, working her legs back underneath her body and getting up at the count of eight, looking far more exhausted than she would like to for only the third round. The tells the ref she’s good to go and the round continues for another minute as Brie does her best to avoid Alyson until the bell. Unquestionably, Michalka won the round, and the staff in the Fates corner is left scratching their heads about how to get Brie back into the fight.

Round 4:

Michalka sensing that she can go in for the finishing blow on Larson and jumps out of her corner as Brie is noticeably slower coming out of her corner than the previous round. Alyson quickly covers the distance between the two girls and immediately gets into a rhythm of attacking Brie. Move forwards, right punch left punch, drop back, reposition. Start all over again. Alyson has free reign for the first minute as Brie is covering up and Michalka goes for a hammer blow, but Larson takes the blow and then goes right to Alyson’s body. The bigger blonde winces as Brie buries the follow-up left into Michalka’s solar plexus. The bigger gasps as she lets loose a wild desperation right that actually gets Brie in her left shoulder, knocking the Avenger backwards. Alyson looks to clock Brie with a big blow, but Larson doesn’t give her any opportunities. The bell rings and the two blondes return to their respective corners after Alyson wins the fourth, close.

Round 5:

Michalka again comes out of her corner strong and starts off with a feint to her left before following up with a right. Larson takes the with her guard and counterpunches at Alyson, connecting with a right to her opponent’s chin. Michalka retreats and when Larson advances, Alyson sticks her opponent in the mouth with a right and drops back before Brie can even think about a counter. Both blondes start circling and they trade feints before Larson dips to her right and then sticks Michalka with a left, knocking her head backwards as the bigger blonde covers up and Brie goes to body with two fast shots to the ribs, but Alyson is quick with a right of her own and the two girls end up wrapping their arms around the other in the middle of the ring and the ref has to separate them. Larson gets in a quick punch after the break and retreats before Michalka can respond and the two girls circle for the final seconds before the bell. Larson takes the fifth on points, close.

Round 6:

Both blonde actresses show some signs of tiring as they enter the back half. Larson moves around more quickly than Michalka, moving around in a hit and run fashion that keeps Alyson on her heels as Brie peppers her body with punches with the occasional shot to the chin thrown in when Larson sees an opening in her opponent’s guard. Alyson plants her feet and throws a left that clips Brie on the chin, but the Avenger comes right back with an uppercut to Alyson that wobbles her and on comes Larson! Brie keeps her punches quick and efficient, picking perfect moments to go for the head and otherwise going for the body. Michalka taking a beating and backs off enough to throw a punch, but nobody is home and Larson comes back with an uppercut that gets all of Alyson’s chin and drops the bigger girl! Alyson drops to the canvas and Brie gets to a corner as the ref starts to count. Alyson’s blinking her eyes, but she has a blank stare doesn’t have enough strength to get up before the count of ten. Your winner by KO6, Brie Larson!

After:

The Fates corner breaking out into smiles as Larson looked like she was in trouble early, but was able to bring it back. Larson takes a few moments to catch her breath in the corner before going over to check in on Michalka, who is now sitting up with the help of her trainers. Alyson manages to lift up her gloves and Larson returns the favor, telling her she fought hard before the Avenger leaves the ring.

“She had me early,” Brie tells the press, “But I came back, so at least there’s that. Not the way you want a winning fight to go, but you have to take those.”
