Before:
A historic moment for the SIRENs team tonight as they set their eyes on their first championship title opportunity, and hopefully of many more to come. Petra Nemcova setting the Welterweight scene on fire recently, cementing her status as contender with a win over her fellow stablemate, Melissa Satta, batting the Italian’s chances away with those powerful hooks last month. Petra turning 40 soon but don’t let her age fool you - the Czech Wonder is looking spritely as she enters the arena with a big smile on her face.

“I’m honoured to be here. I’m honoured to even have this chance against Smalls. We’ve met once before at a photoshoot, and let me say that while her footwork’s admirable, she doesn’t have the same punching power that I do.”

Joan Smalls strutting out with a defiant and sexy pose as well, her lean body covered in black lingerie that you don’t know where her body begins and the fabric ends, making for a mesmerising stare as her entire body glitters in the spotlights on her way down the walkway.

“Petra’s new around here so she obviously doesn’t know how this thing goes. In my opinion, the Welter picture was doing just fine before she came along, so I don’t how people are calling her ‘the next big thing’ and all.”

Ladies are almost identical in height but Petra built slightly bigger, toned limbs bulging threateningly and betraying the blonde’s power over the leaner, meaner girl. Girls are readying themselves at opposite ends of the ring, so HERE WE GO with ten rounds of Welterweight TITLE action!

Round 1:
Joan immediately shows how this fight’s gonna go down for a good majority of it - using her longer legs to establish distance and avoid Petra’s advances. This is definitely a good strategy for the champion, who has clearly been studying the tapes of her opponent tonight. Petra known for her one-hit-wonder KOs due to her superior power but not if Joan can help it, of course - Puerta Rican effortlessly dancing around Petra early on, jabbing steadily at her face and body. This is bad news for Siren, who barely scores this round, and when she does, her thundering hooks simply crash into Joan’s guard up high, making her stumble left and right but barely having any other effect.

Round 2:
Petra reminds herself that she’s in a title fight of her life - a once in a lifetime opportunity - and begins fighting a bit more smart. Joan still trying to keep her distance, but Petra simply mirroring her movements, now confusing the champion, who’s trained for her opponent to rush her at every opportunity. Petra responding instead with long jabs into the guard at first, but then scoring on the face as Joan underestimates her longer reach. Smalls’ return jabs to the tummy and chest the wrong targets to target at, with Petra merely shrugging those off and returning fire with a left hook of her own that grazes the chin, sending Joan stumbling off to the side. Thankfully though the bell rings, denying Petra any chance to follow up immediately. Still, the blonde returns with vengeance and starts putting the champ on notice!

Round 3:
Joan naturally more wary this round, once again trying to rely on her long legs to stay out of harm’s way. Petra biding her time as well, refusing to charge in after her into what’s surely going to be another trap. Stalemate therefore occurs for a good thirty seconds, the ladies exchanging punches from afar but barely scoring or hurting the other. It’s only when Joan tries a counterattack does the tide turn all of a sudden: Petra firing off a quick one-two into the guard when Joan seizes the chance to swing a step-in hook aimed at the head - MISSES though, when Petra anticipated the move, ducking under, the Siren bringing a right hand escalating upwards STRAIGHT into the champ’s chin!! UHGGH! Joan BLASTED backwards flying into the ropes, rebounding forward and down onto her knees! It’s the first KNOCKDOWN of the match for Petra Nemcova!

Wild cheers from the rafters as the audience thinks this is it - but hell if the champion is going to be put down so early and so fast. Joan grunting as she forces herself back up by the count of 7, a look of pure anger on her timeless features rather than that of pain.

Last minute on the clock and Petra trying to keep up the pressure, steady advance and hounding of the high guard but Joan still keeping her defences tight as she retreats and backs away, trying to survive till the next round. At the bell, it’s Petra’s round for sure but her failure to put Joan away may come back and cost her.

Round 4:
Petra back to her reckless ways in the fourth, thinking her opponent’s ripe for plucking. Here she comes, charging hard and fast, straight hands landing on the middle of forearms and into the brunette’s chest and stomach as well. But Smalls not idle or a lame duck either, her legs still working fine as she trapezes side to side, still avoiding a majority of the blonde’s punches. Petra too fixated on scoring a second knockdown of the night, doesn’t notice she’s eating a sh*tload of punches to the face until it’s too late, and starts bleeding down one nostril towards the end of the round. Joan simply smiling at her handiwork, but doesn’t deem it fit to charge back at the blonde either, knowing she’s just barely succeeded in enraging the animal in Nemcova. Joan Smalls retaking the fourth in such a measured manner that it’s impressive coming from that knockdown in the prior round, picking the challenger apart and effectively negating her punch power.

Round 5:
Petra still slightly in the lead and reluctant to lose it. Joan on the other hand determined to catch up, decides to take the fight to the blonde at the urging of her corner as well. Bad move for the champ - all she manages to get in is a flurry of lefts and rights which land on Petra’s forearms, before her head’s SWIVELLED right with one of Petra’s patented right hooks! Joan lets out a throttled grunt as she’s flung far off field, then before she can steady herself, EATS another hook to the cheek that rotates her about on the ropes! She’s in trouble again as Petra moves in to have her way with her! Spanking shots off the lean tummy as she goes to work with due diligence, breaking down the brunette’s resolve by first winding her over and over with invasive hooks off the body, then attempting another knockout blow up high by wailing on the guard. Smalls trying to hang in there, still trying to scoot away without giving the blonde the knockdown opportunity to her head, and she succeeds to some extent when Petra fails to deny her escape route - Joan managing to scamper away but not before taking some dull shots to her stomach and ribs. She’s soon out of that danger pocket, and Petra surprisingly CAN’T give chase due to her own exhaustion. The girls stand panting apart for the remainder of the round, neither having the will to get in close to brawl again. ANOTHER big round for Petra but if you look at it from Joan’s corner’s perspective: ANOTHER round that she fails to put their girl away.

Round 6:
That failure is now starting to cost Petra. The Siren looks winded as she struggles to come forward with the same energy as before. I guess that age gap is finally starting to catch up with her because Joan having no such issue here, even though she’s been on the receiving end of some of the worse torment so far. Joan still hesitant for the first minute though, merely focusing on keeping her opponent at arm’s length with shooting jabs at the head. But they do the trick, and Petra barely displaying the courage to go out all-in similar to the previous rounds when she dominated. This gives Joan more confidence, and she scores another barrage of punches to Petra’s tummy, further knocking the wind out of her lungs. She dodges under a wild hook from the Siren and then delivers a satisfying comeback uppercut into the chin that snaps the big girl’s head back. Petra grunting loudly as she backtreks a bit to regroup - if Joan was expecting to knock her down so easily, she’s clearly disappointed. Important thing is the champion comes back into contention but those pundits still keeping score have her at a disadvantage in terms of points. She will need to exploit Petra’s weakness and exploit it now!

Round 7:
And capitalise she does! Joan flying forward on those long wings of hers, stunning Petra with another quick combination to the nose and lips before resuming that body abuse! Petra getting hurt by pesky punches, but still fully intends to connect hard and fast. She’s throwing punches back but for some reason isn’t aiming that properly any longer - majority of them land stiffly on Joan’s chest and body, buffeting her about, but otherwise not delivering that knockout blow she’s craving for to the head and chin. Last minute and girls still intent of punishing each other, but Joan displaying her chops when she launches inaugural hooks of her own into Petra’s face, one after the other, finally managing to STUN the big blonde enough to make her lose her balance - Petra backs away on shaky legs, head looking groggy as well as she collapses down on into a heap, in a well-deserved comeback from Joan Smalls!!

One knockdown a piece, ladies and gentlemen! Petra looking VERY out of sorts as she attempts to get back up to her knees. Joan sauntering over to her corner to await the inevitable. Petra’s cornermates banging on the apron, hoping to encourage her back up - the one Siren left with the unbeatable win record; the one Siren who’s gotten the title opportunity thus far. But no dice - Petra too dazed from the attacks to her head - each time she attempts to rise to her feet only to collapse back down in a hazy daze. Referee hits the ten-count and this match is OVER!!

Official Decision: Joan Smalls defeats Petra Nemcova via KO7! Joan Smalls is STILL the Welterweight Champion!

After:
Joyous moment from Smalls as she leaps up and down into the air, big grin on her face as she celebrates another win in an impressive resume.

“I TOLD ya this would happen! Petra’s old and new at the same time - not the best combination and CERTAINLY not championship material. Let that sink in for a while… WE are the newcomers and we RULE this division!”

Petra being comforted in her own corner by teammates Danielle Robertson and Diana Korkunova, with her second-in-command Melissa Satta notably absent.

“That was a tough fight...” Petra commenting to reporters later. “The best fight of my life, if I’m being honest Even though I didn’t get the belt, it was still a good learning experience for us all.”

Classy fight and classier outcome from both ladies today. Let’s hope they face each other again sometime in the future!
