Luisana Lopilato vs Summer Glau

BEFORE:
Second time these two are meeting, with Summer Glau having faced off with half the VIX roster by this point in time, and STILL hoping that her next will result in striking gold.

“Well, here we are again,” Luisana says first, all-smiles at the press conference backstage as she takes her seat at the table. “Summer wanted a quick turnaround after our last match in November, so I obliged her by accepting tonight’s rematch. It always stings when one loses a fight, so I can only imagine how hard it must be to be in her shoes.”

Some sting right there, but Glau isn’t paying close attention to what her opponents have in mind, somewhat graciously taking the mic when it’s her turn to speak:

“I still can’t believe I lost to Luisana under four rounds last year. That’s what tonight’s contest is all about: a little bit of redemption, a little action, and a whole lot of proving I have to do to prove that I still belong in the ring.”

Ladies set each other with steady stares at the podium, with the blonde Lopilato in a set of red lingerie that sets her up with plenty of wolf whistles through the room. Glau in a grey sports bra and yellow bikini briefs, showing off that tanned midriff. Later in the ring, Glau straps on white gloves, whilst Luisana is wearing a pair of black.

HERE we go with ten rounds of Bantamweight action!

ROUND 1:
Luisana takes advantage of the older woman’s sluggishness to score first blood: right hand stunner to Summer’s nose in the lead-up to her advance forward. Glau’s prospects for winning their rematch not looking too bright as she’s forced on the defensive this early, manages to bash a left hook into the blonde’s head later on, but it ain’t enough to temper Luisana’s drive. Lopilato moving and shooting like she wants this win badly herself, but more importantly, to prove that she can climb the top rankings of this division. She drives Glau back with another sustained offensive, shooting punches into her arms and then driving right hands straight into her midsection, for emphasis. Round ends and Summer is already left panting hard, driven into the ropes for support. Let’s see if history will repeat itself.

ROUND 2:
But boy can this 40-year-old still move! Glau frustrates her blonde opponent’s plans for dominance with a continuous attempt to keep her at a distance, out of range of her attacks and then a slow and steady blast of punches that are landing back into Luisa’s face. Luisana almost looks shocked by the unfair treatment, can’t believe she’s getting outworked by the older woman till it’s too late in the round. Glau still has the edge, or whatever you want to call it, able to get out of the way of Luisana’s hooks before timing her shots right on time, hitting the Vixen’s nose like a red button getting spamed. Of course, how much damage she’s doing is still debatable, with Luisa left rubbing her cheek at the end of three minutes, but never in any real danger of going down this round.

ROUND 3:
Seems like the older fighter has learned some tricks up her sleeze after the last time these two fought - Luisa still trying to overwhelm her with aggressive attacks, but Glau not having any of it, evades with faster feet and then firing short but effective jabs to the face. Luisa left groaning each time her assault ends in tatters, spends time covering her head and defending against Glau’s counterattacks, but Glau smartly knows when to circle back out of range and then rinse and repeat, leaving Luisana bewildered just a few feet away, wondering how to close the rest of the distance. Luisa’s tenacity does enable her to land a couple of jabs to close the round, with Summer’s age starting to catch up to her now after going full throttle for such a long time prior. But Glau ends the round still in the driver’s seat, a confident smile etched onto her face at having outfoxed the Vixen yet again.

ROUND 4:
Slowly but surely, however, Lopilato fights her way back into contention. She knows that Glau can’t keep up the pace forever, and all she needs to do is maintain her pressure and attack, attack, attack. Well, that strategy has mixed results, with the blonde rushing her foe again in the first minute but then taking as much damage as when the two girls were exchanging stiff punches to the lips and cheek. But Glau gets caught with a mid-round hook to her arms, sending her staggered to the side and slightly stunned at Luisa’s power. Lopilato keeping on target, more jab-jab-SWING combos designed to slow and overwhelm the older woman. But Glau hangs in there for the most part, firing punches less often and taking much more abuse to her body, but still standing tall by the time the bell rings. Luisa’s corner congratulating their girl as she heads back to turnbuckle - this might well be the lucky break that she needs!

ROUND 5:
Glau just can’t compete any longer in conventional warfare, slowly gets overtaken by her opponent, who’s ten-years younger. Luisa digs deep and pushes forward, despite her own reservations, keeps up the barrage to Glau’s arms, looking for that elusive knockdown. Summer lets out a yelp as another hook slams hard into her guard, reforms quickly but not quickly enough, as Luisana stuns the brunette with another lurching shot straight into the tummy, then another uppercut designed to take her head off, lands instead on guard in the nick of time. Glau moving backwards in a daze, however - that last combination didn’t hit home but she certainly felt the impact. Lopilato presses in without mercy, left-left tags on the arms just for show before a right cross sails in outta nowhere, STUNS the older actress on the chin! AND DOWN SUMMER GOES, instantly FLOORED by that haymaker!

It’s the same result this time, folks, as Glau’s left looking up at the stadium lights, her chest rising and falling to the ringing volume of the crowd. Referee hovers over her all the way to the doomsday count of 10, as Luisana steps back, slightly winded herself after all this early exertion. Glau however not moving through the count - looks like she’s completely knocked out cold!

AFTER:
Luisa also breathing heavily in the corner, finally letting out a huge sigh of relief as her hand is raised by the referee. For a moment there, the outcome of this match seemed all but uncertain, with Glau adapting well early on, only then to be taken down by the fifth round.

The two opponents share more words of encouragement later on, when Glau has been revived and is seen recuperating in her corner. Luisana comes over and the two ladies share a brief embrace, forehead to forehead, promising to do this again one day. Who knows if those words will ever come true, but if tonight’s rematch was any indication, there’s still some fight left in these gals.
